The specs are the same as reported by Digital Foundry weeks ago. So it is the same document.

Doubt the hardware has changed. Lol @ cows hoping for a clock increase. Scorpio will eat it alive.

Calm down, PC Junior fan. Neo will likely get more exclusive games between October and November than the Scorpio ever will.

And it will still be weaker. We're talking raw performance here, not games.

Also seems like framerate is not a priority for Sony, but image quality is. RIP 1080p60 dream again.

So although it's 4K capable, devs are having problems hitting acceptable frame rates and are reducing the internal resolution to compensate and up-scaling to 4K. Due to the mandate that Neo must match or exceed in frame rate to its OG Ps4 counterpart.

This means games on PS4 original could actually take frame rate hits if the Neo version has frame rate problems at the higher resolution. Devs could build in frame rate caps to get around that. IE: Neo only gets 30 fps with added graphics fidelity and resolution, so the original PS4 counterpart would also be limited to 30fps even if its capable of doing 60. Balls.

Your obsession is weird, I have a PS4 and X1. My most played PS4 game is overwatch. A multiplat taht is only 2 months old.Their exclusives have been very niche and I haven't cared for any of them. The top 25 selling games on PS4, is 23 multiplats and 2 remasters from the PS3. Even with double the consoles sold, UC4 still hasn't outsold halo 5. PS4 exclusives are highly overrated by their fan boys

Not as good as the Scorpio but oh well. Also what do they mean they're using the same HDD? Does that mean there's still no external hard drive support and the NeO will still have the same HDD limitations as the original PS4, man this is hardly an upgrade. This is a PS4.5. I wish they went all out like MS and really introduce the most powerful console ever and not this .5 "upgrade".

Some older titles but not too old. RE5, Saints Row 3, South Park, DMC, Naruto UNSR, Team Fortress, Left4Dead2, Strider to name some I recently tried.

How?

Some games just require you to turn off AA with is perfectly fine with that amount of pixels.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1720?vs=1721

Those waiting for Scorpio to eat neo alive will be in for a shock, the difference between the 290X and the Fury X is 3TF yet performance difference is minimal,in most cases lower than PS4 vs XBO,the difference between neo and scorpio is 1.8TF,so the performance delta will not be huge.

The problem with this ^^ is that you are a blind biased lemming.

So what you like means nothing, and since Halo hasn't sell 5 million units since no official from MS has claim so,we don't know how it is vs Uncharted which did outsold Halo 5 on launch without problems even that halo came during the holiday season when sales tend to be higher.

The best games on xbox are all multiplatforms basically,at least the PS4 has 2.

2.3X the PS4...hahahaa Not 2.3TF...lol

4.14TF if nothing change.

No what it means by same is 500GB internal, the least thing i care about is the HDD which one can upgrade quite easy.

Well the whole argument was about supposedly rumor from the same leaker of neo claiming sony was still deciding between using jaguar or upping the CPU and charge more.

there is nothing about that document that even suggests an update in specs if it is real. I mean nothing. They are talking about launch windows, when you can have you code, how to do the "4K" rendering the different methods you can use. I don't see anything there that suggests a revision of spec is even possible. Mass production is supposed to start before the prototypes are returned at the beginning of 2017. Where is the window for the update? Remember they found out about the new xbone in june. The doc specifically says call us if you can't hit 4k on your games which makes me believe this is it. Either way the specs for the Neo are fine. It is not in the same position the xbone is in. The xbone is sub par while the PS4 hits the bare and I do mean bare minimum. The neo is not in either position. Its up to par with what is needed for a solid console even though it's not going to be as powerful as the scoprio

@tormentos: I think the slides label the 2nd prototype that was shipped in June as "final spec". Could be wrong tho.

Anyway, Jaguar and a 5400RPM drive would be pretty disappointing.

@tormentos: That's not a fair comparison because the PS4 and XBO do not run games at the same settings and even in the rare cases they are near identical (they are never the same) there is a frame rate cap so you don't really now ho high the PS4 could really perform over the xbone in most games. But carry on I'm not arguing with you just pointing that out.

also this. There is no spec revision if this doc is real. Either the doc is real and this is it or the doc is not real and we don't know anything really. But this doc can't be real and a spec change be eminent at the same time. This doc describes something well into it's development process and on it's final legs. Way too late for a major change in specs like new GPU or CPU. october launch. they just found out what the scorpio has in june. So either they try to build a new console in 4 months or they say f it and take this entire year as a loss. Either way you talking lots of money wasted and despite the success of the PS4 I don't think sony is in a position to just eat that. Especially since they are embarking something new to the industry (mid gen revision) and there is no guarantee it's even a success to begin with.

This is what they call an upgrade? Our current pathetically weak cpu is now 1.3x more powerful? Good job, Sony. Incredible job.

You just read the difference in peak performance between the R9 290X and the Furyy X.

The R9 290X is 5.6TF the Fury X is 8.6TF do the math, and i linked a site Anandtech comparing both GPU,which show a rather small gap for the kind of gap in flop performance.

Any other doubts just ask. :)

But we do have games that do run at the same resolution and are not hold back on PS4,those show a nice gap, what we see now is developers mostly shifting power from keeping parity resolution wise to keeping parity frame wise,so the xbox one mostly get parity or close frame wise while giving up resolution.

Most of the settings most of the times are equal, but the resolution is dropped.

The document is old and the same happen with the PS4 which showed early kits with 4GB of memory only, hell VGleaks Orbis spec leaks even claim 4GB/s of memory and sony added 4GB more at the last minute.

I don't think they can do anything without delaying a few months, but the leaker of Neo claimed sony was thinking about upgrading the CPU,apparently it wasn't on the documents,he was told so by some one close to neo back then.

I say they are the documents that people claimed they saw. They where out before MS announced the Scorpio. Who knows if Sony changed their plans since then?

This is a good mid gen upgrade. Titles that are 30fps on the original PS4 can be 60fps on the NEO, and maybe few titles can be 4k 30fps. I run GTA5 on my GTX970 at 4k 30fps on high, no AA. You aren't forced to upgrade, unless you want that extra power and 4K Bluray.

The Scorpio is just stupid. No exclusives, probably a 5-600$ price tag, a weak X1 that will hold it back unless they ditch it, which wouldn't surprise me, and a new generation just a few years away after release. Yeah, real smart.

It's been a while Since Sony had 3rd place in graphics (PS2). Cows are not going to take this well.

The PS2 was release almost 2 years before the xbox,so it nos like MS beat sony on day 1,they arrived late which is why sony completely destroyed both Nintendo and MS combined by more than 100 million units.

I don't think they can't much without a delay or without having another model side by side on the cooking table.

I think at 2.1GHz that Jaguar is at peak.

Actually the Neo is not that bad if its releasing soon. Sony sells it for 400 dollars lot of people will buy it to have all their games run at 1080p 60frames

I prefer Scorpio but i don't think its bad releasing the Neo now. The most important thing is they have a good price.

Gaming on 1080p TV's is good to be norm for another three years at least. If the Neo can have comparable performance with the PC at 1080p 60 frames thats not bad upgrade. Only downside the console is not going to be future proof when can't play games at 4K native.

This is only knock down on their console right now if they go with this spec at launch?

@tormentos: I think the slides label the 2nd prototype that was shipped in June as "final spec". Could be wrong tho.

Anyway, Jaguar and a 5400RPM drive would be pretty disappointing.

Not really if its releasing in October that means it shipping 13 months before the Scorpio. MS thinking is be cheaper next holiday to have a 4K console. I am surprised they release this early because they could end up being the weaker machine for years and years. I think they would just delay after watching how people reacted to xbox resolution issues?
