After getting my 3rd RROD, the last one happening a month after getting it and a right after a week of not even playing it... yeah... Apparently using the 360 breaks it and aso not using the 360 breaks it.... I bought a PS3.

After playing on PSN alot lately I have to say that PSN is the superior online service.

1. Its free, with alot more free downloads, like free wallpapers etc which you would be made to pay for on Live.

2. The interface of PSN is vastly superior as it reflects a PC online server more. An example of that is that you join the server and can view every game being held and play at and you can pick and choose which one you want to play or find a specific one with a friend. Unlike on Live where its just that random P2P garbage that 90% of the time enters you into a horrible game that dc's after 5 seconds...

3. Is it just me or are there a considerably smaller amount of absolute idiots on PSN. I played many many games before playing with someone that was even remotely annoying. This could not be said about Live with im assuming from experiences that at least 40% of the userbase is people under 11 that are there just to annoy and about 20% are drunk or high but not only that but they insist on telling you that they are every 5 seconds... Oh and lets not forget about all the racist's and the people that sound like they have swallowed the mike lol on Live.

4. Servers that can host 30 vs 30 games with little to no lag on PSN!!! Those games are just fun lol.

5. Home, yes you may say its pointless but nonetheless its a cool feature that has the potential to be great!.

6. Its free!!!! Yes I said this already but its so important it needs to be said twice. I refuse to pay for live anymore because its just not worth the price.

Anyways, this is why PSN>>>Live.

There's a considerably smaller amount of people. I doubt there's some sort of subconscious drive that makes idiots gravitate to XBL; it's just a larger community, and thus naturally has more idiots in it.

Less people= less strain on servers which is good. If you look at Live online stats I bet its way too overpopulated. All I know is that ive never had trouble finding a game, even a 60 vs 60 as there are many many of those going on 24/7 and I find alot more people that actually want to play the game instead of idiots who want to get high and yell at the game... lol

Wait, you're saying the PSN has less people which equals less strain on servers but at the same time you find alot of people up to 60 vs 60 to play with which contradicts the first part about less people?

Less people than Live. I meant that even though there is alot less people most likely than there is on Live there are still many games to be played so it really makes no difference.

the ability to talk with your friends while playing a totaly different game, listening to music during your games, send voice messages to your friends, playing with people who use headsets, having alot of great downloadable games, having heaps on achievments that are fun to unlock, gamer points etc make it a much better experience oh and BTW please dont mention trophies they are so boring to get and nobody even tries to get them

Hell yeah!! You named every point I love about psn... the reason that less annoying people on psn is less kids...more expensive console = older people who are more mature as they have to be to afford it(sure some spoiled kids get in but very few...) When your console is dirt cheap and advertised with kung-fu panda and lego indy for $199 you can just imagine that 90% of new 360 sales were to parents buying for their kids. My little nephews just got one, they are 10 and 6, they want to play online. My brother in law didn't know that it required a hard-drive, wifi and a subscribtion fee, they aren't going online anytime soon, but I am sure a lot are. Most 360 owners balk at the lack of cross game chat. Why would I want to get out of my game expeirecne to talk with someone in another game? I talk all day on the phone (as a tech support manger), I don't want to talk to people unless they are in my group in an online game....that's what ingame text message is for.

Yeah, I found myself playing more and more single player after every Live experience, But with PSN its been the opposite, the online is so welcoming and fun the way it should be. Especially in RE2, love the online there lol.

Give me a break, trophies are much better then acheivments, they look nicer, they give you a feeling of more acomplishment unlocking a bronze, silver gold, or platinum trophy, the level system is better. I already stressed why cross game chat is not nessesary. All new ps3 games have trophies mandatory. PSN has many many games... with a large lack of shovelware as most games are good. Sony uses dedicated servers, not p2p crap like on xbla. Less annoying kids, a slicker interface and fun expeirence. How can you talk the way you do? Take that lbp avatar as it's obvious you don't deserve it...lwith comments like that...lol...

I think there are a few games that have that now, the one I have is resistance 2. Im not sure if its 60 vs 60 or if its 60 players 30 vs 30, I think its around 30 vs 30. Either way its still an incredible amount of people and those matches are very fun with the right teams lol.

I agree 100%, ive never found any use for things like the cross game chat, and ive had much more fun unlocking trophies than any acheivments.

PSn is also more welcoming to a gamer who is used to pc gaming. Like the tc said the server browser and open archetecture, user made mods and content and non-proprietary accessories make it even more a plus for us pc people.

Just like to elaborate about what someone else said. PS3s higher price point means I have to deal with less kids and imature people. It's a welcoming feeling knowing I don't have to have my gaming experience ruined by someone immature.

Played plenty of R2 and Metal Gear online. Complete ghost town, sole reason why i stopped playing.

Gonna try K2 but I really dont know why it would be any different.

Agreed, it's like playing with bots, especially in Resistance 2 where everyone pretty much sucks.

Platinum is were it counts. I posted an article about this months ago. Trophies reflect more skill then achievements.

i strongly disagree...imo psn has way cooler dl games...fl0w, everyday shooter, the last guy, pixel junk eden, pixel junk monsters, echochrome, linger in shadows, flower to name a few. voice messaging....i dont rly c the point since i have a cell but ok...if i want music i can turn my stereo on...there rly is no difference between trophies n achievements....i like em a lot personally. they make me get more out of each game...plenty of people have headsets...but maybe less is a good thing.

While the PSN Store may be well done, and home is pretty cool. the actual getting online with a game and playing with friends or people you don't know is absolutely terrible. PSN is light years behind Live when it comes to this. Cross game invites, recently played games, and even adding friends is terribly implemented as Sony doesn't have 1 set way of doing it and rely upon the developers to implement the features into the game instead of having a set standard. Playing Online with PS3 is alot more difficult then on Live, as well as a lot more boring. PSN has frequent dissconnects even when using a wire based connection something Live has never had trouble with. PSN has got its work cut out for it if it hopes to be even of glimmer of good as Live.

I'd have to disagree with you saying it has more downloads, even free ones. Live has about 10x as much content as PSN.

[QUOTE="Juggernaut140"][QUOTE="world69star69"] Give me a break, trophies are much better then acheivments, they look nicer, they give you a feeling of more acomplishment unlocking a bronze, silver gold, or platinum trophy, the level system is better. Take that lbp avatar as it's obvious you don't deserve it...lwith comments like that...lol...jakarai
They look nicer? OH WOW A PICTURE OF A TROPHY!!!!! Tell me how unlocking a gold trophy is any different than unlocking a really hard achievement. Because the game tells you so? Please. And a high level is the exact same thing as having a high gamerscore.

Platinum is were it counts. I posted an article about this months ago. Trophies reflect more skill then achievements.

No they don't It's just they're given a difficulty label. It's the exact same thing as someone having a ridiculously hard achievement

sorry dude but you are wrong

the ability to talk with your friends while playing a totaly different game, listening to music during your games, send voice messages to your friends, playing with people who use headsets, having alot of great downloadable games, having heaps on achievments that are fun to unlock, gamer points etc make it a much better experience oh and BTW please dont mention trophies they are so boring to get and nobody even tries to get them

PUG_NASTY
i strongly disagree...imo psn has way cooler dl games...fl0w, everyday shooter, the last guy, pixel junk eden, pixel junk monsters, echochrome, linger in shadows, flower to name a few. voice messaging....i dont rly c the point since i have a cell but ok...if i want music i can turn my stereo on...there rly is no difference between trophies n achievements....i like em a lot personally. they make me get more out of each game...plenty of people have headsets...but maybe less is a good thing.

1) You cant use your cell to call up every player in the game and talk to them all at once. You cant communicate with your team members on the fly with a cel phone. 2) The whole point of the music feature on live is that it replaces the in-game music with yours. The sound of your stereo and the game music would clash, forcing you to either not listen to music or mute your game, which sucks as you then cant hear everything else going on. 3) I agree that there is little difference between trophies and achievements, though on live every game has them, as opposed to only a small number on PSN. Still, hardly an epic feature worth bragging about.

Trophies are terrible. As they rely on the developer to be implemented. Microsoft Enforces it so EVERY game has 1000/1000 achievments when it releases. Over half of m y PS3 games have ZERO trophies. You sir are high on crack to say trophies are better.

PSN is the best, free wallpapers and stuff and people don't speak that much so it's quiet and peacefulFFXIII360

Its not mandatory to have to wear a head set while playing on Live, if silent is what you prefer....

and Live also has free wallpaper and stuff, you can also put your own up....

Sorry but.... Anyone voting for the PSN is just purely a fanboy. Live is better, and that's not an opinion, it's a fact

I mean i'm glad I don't have to pay for my PS3 to be able to go online, but there's no question Live is far superior. Not saying SONY isn't capable of making something better than live, but as long as it's free it will never have as much features as Live.

I enjoy the unified service more..... I can expect the same features I am found of to be in every game that I play on live...I KNOW I would enjoy R2/SOCOM and soon K2 more if PSN supported 8 way private chat like Live does....

From that point alone makes PSN a sub par service compared to Live

Both are really good services. I like how live says you have friends playing this game because I'm too lazy to check usually if there is no proper clan system. Down part is, you have to pay for the service and PSN is free and gameplay is pretty much equal between the two from what I've experienced. At this moment in time, PSN is just a lot better for me. When it comes down to it, I'd rather not spend money for live right now if I'm only going to be playing 2 nights a week, 3 nights at the most due to a busy life. It's just not worth it no matter how good it is when I can just go on PSN for free and play a good multiplayer match or coop for an hour or two and get a similar experience. Live was better during winter break when I had more time to play though.

I find PSN better for downloadable games. There's no cap on file size so games can be huge (Wipeout HD, Siren...). I also like how you see the price in whatever currency you have and not 'points'. I can also do one click buys thanks to the wallet system. I don't play online enough to judge that but as far as I'm concerned PSN > XBL for downloadable games at least.

To jakarai. I don't see how unlocking a Platinum trophey is any different than getting 1000 out of 1000 achievement points in a game. Doing both means you had the skill to complete all the required tasks in the game. Seems exactly the same to me.

He's high on crack because he has a preference and supports it? So does that make you high on drugs for having a preference leaning towards achievements? Come on, it's one thing to disagree with someone, but now you're just being a hypocrite.

I prefer PSN simply due to the fact that I'm not getting milked out of even more money to pay for something that should be free. Paying online fee's on top of internet fee's?

[QUOTE="jakarai"][QUOTE="TheOwnerOner"]Its freaking boring playing on PSN, no one has mics, the games are silent, no one giving orders, no one taking orders, everyone running around like you playing with bots. a welcoming feeling? LOL, more like a ghost town.TheOwnerOner

I guess your playing the wrong games. Play some Call of Duty or soon to be next big hit Killzone 2. :D

Played plenty of R2 and Metal Gear online. Complete ghost town, sole reason why i stopped playing.

Gonna try K2 but I really dont know why it would be any different.

Join a clan to give/take orders.

Why would anybody give you orders if you are lone wolf and nobody know you

I havnt renewed my xbl account because... i cant quite work out what it is im actually paying for. Unless a game is massively multiplayer, IT MUST BE FREE to play online.

PSN probably has less idiots than Live, but there's a reason why Microsoft have a price for online: the service is much, much better. There are more features.

I wish the PSN had free trials for every PSN game like how XBL has free trials for every XBLA and XNA games.

If you were in the military, I really doubt you'd "know" your CO, but I bet he'd still give you orders...

Anyway, I can't really comment, as I haven't had any experience with PSN yet. All I know is that XBL is great to use. Even more so when you have a bunch of friends to talk to and play with. I'm getting a PS3 this year, so I'll be able to see what PSN is all about.

Yeah thats definitely something I'd like to see them do also. That and I really wish they'd put a lot more PSone classics up on the PSN like they do in Japan. I mean that service has a lot of potential yet very few developers take advantage of it.
