that is maxed out PC version, it barely looks better than the xbox version(it seriously looks just upscaled), compare this to say tomb raider maxed on 1440p the difference is HUGE

This is what I've been waiting to see. I'm certainly waiting for a drop if this is consistent on multiple machines. This is also why I'm concerned about this UWP. They''l just develop the game for consoles and deliver it everywhere else at different resolution scales. but the quality will be the same.

Ye this is quite ridiculous to ask for 70€ for a digital PC game that barely looks better on 1440p on a 980ti, my concerns were raised when it was ON/OFF for AA

Loving it so far, only played around 2 -3 hours.....just woke up, gonna play all day, Dirt Rally also. Yes graphics wise I agree some areas look better than others on XOne, lots of details though and overall a very immersive and good looking game. I'm taking my time(no pun intended) and exploring everthing for the collectibles.

Controls are fine so far and the mocap is well done. Ok I'm out, got work to do :)

A few weeks ago, it’s been confirmed that all those who purchase Quantum Break on Xbox One will also receive a free code for the Windows 10 version of the game. Unfortunately, these codes won’t be available instantly, as it’s been confirmed a few hours ago that these codes will be sent within 7-11 days from release

It looks slightly better in some places as you can see here:

But that's still not what you'd expect

Interesting to see what DF has to say about the PC version

@Heil68: You know me, I am a MS supporter. But lately man, they just can't seem to get out of their own way. 7-11 days for the PC code? Really? Not to mention the alarming info about a bad PC port.

It seems like static objects are better looking than dynamic ones. I think the same was true in the XBO version according to DF.

I've got to say, this is one of the most technically impressive games I've ever played or seen, the amount of stuff that's going on is quite remarkable and it's beautiful even in spite of its resolution pitfall, but honestly it doesn't affect anything and still comes out looking fantastic.

Quantum Break is what I would call an inconsistently beautiful game, at least on Xbox One, the PC version is still not available yet. At times it looks normal, still good but nothing that stands out as something overtly impressive, then at other times which is more commonplace it's absolutely astonishing, you just kind of stop and stare, it looks incredible. In terms of the game itself, it's quite enthralling and the story and dialog so far is top notch, it starts out a bit slow which gets you comfortable with what's going on and how to control things, and then after that it's full speed ahead. What Peter Brown said about the weapon controls and movement being sloppy is true, but only until you get used to what you're doing, after about 15 minutes it all feels fine and familiar, it starts out foreign but that doesn't last as I suspected.

When you get comfortable with your time powers you really do feel like a god, but not unstoppable, I've gotten myself killed several times already being arrogant and thinking I can juggernaut through anything, that's a big nope. I'm going to tell you right off this is not a cover shooter, the only times I've been using cover is to recover from getting my ass shot off and to reload if I'm about to die, aside from that it's time powers and bouncing around the environment taking out the trash. The platforming hasn't been a big deal, it's pretty generic, you know do this to get up there, or use your powers to manipulate something so you can bypass it, but all in all I haven't found it to be negative or detract from anything, it helps with the pacing.

The TV show portion so far has been great and the production values seem pretty high, it really does humanize the characters and makes you care about what's going on in the game on a completely different and new level, it's a strange feeling but I find it very welcome. It's nice playing a game for 90 minutes or so and getting a break but still being a part of what's going on, I grabbed a few beers and let it take me for the ride.

I'm going to say flat out, those 4/10 reviews, I don't care what they say, they're completely non-objective, absolutely asinine in every possible degree from what I've played so far. Scores like that are reserved for really screwed up garbage, junk, the worst of the worst type of games and stuff that is absolutely broken, there's no objective means of reaching a score like that for a game like this. Now I can understand this not being everyone's bag and that's fine, we all like different stuff, but to tear something down which all around works and quite proficiently, its just someones personal bias clouding their ability to objectively rate something for what it's doing right even if they don't personally find it to their liking, you should still be able to appreciate it regardless.

All in all I am impressed, it's something new, it feels fresh and what they set out to do works quite well, it's not perfect but I'm really enjoying it and I'm going to jump back in for some more.

finished chapter 3 last night. chapter 2 was a little bit slow, but act 3 & the show were both a step up.

Got the junction of act 3 and then episode 3 of the show to watch tonight before it get into part 4.

I'm doing what you're doing, I'm taking it sectionally, this is something I want to savor and not just blow through.

totally, enjoy the show and then get into the action. it is more fun combined than i thought it might be. it really does work well in my opinion.

I woke up 2:00am just to play Quantum Break before heading out. I gotta say that I was very impressive what Remedy has done with QB. The tied-in t.v segments isn't all that bad and the choices do in fact impact both game and t.v so making you're choices very complicating. I came this very close to picking the choice if I wanted to kill the girl who you meet during your first play but ended up picking the PR approach so that's pretty much what I got out of it and it shows every choice does effects the t.v show and game. The combat is very generic, it's not Gears cover base shooting that you would expect for a 3rd person shooter, my issue is the pistol has unlimited ammo and breaking the immersion of the game and Uncharted does it better when your low on ammo. there is no melee which is lame, the powers of bending time is really cool but could have done better in my opinion.

The actors on the t.v makes this game more interesting, Lance Reddick is one of my favorite actors so having him in QB makes it more fun to watch. I'm on Act 2 atm so I will continue more so later on today.

All in all, I gotta say that QB get's a 7/10 now that I played the game in the palm of my hands.

I haven't gotten my PC codes so yet and will try out the PC version probably after when I'm finish playing my first playthrough on Xbox One.

Agreed, so far so good. Game looks amazing. I am loving the story, the animations, and the controls are spot on so far....though a bit finicky at times. I took about a dozen screenshots or so to bring to this forum. However, stupid upload studio won't let me save them or upload them yet. I really don't understand why upload studio has to be such a piece of s*** sometimes. I never have this issue with my PS4.

Is everyone looking for the collectibles? Did anyone see the Alan Wake Returns footage at the beginning of the game....my hair on my arms stood on end with excitement

Im digging it so far. It looks great for the most part, the acting is good, the gameplay is fine. So far there isn't anything remarkable about the game but its a good solid experience. I really like when you dash and all the shit in the environments goes flying everywhere

Nice to see everyone that has bought it so far is enjoying it! Great reviews, indeed an awesome game.

Does it really matter? you are getting the code for free. did they specifically state that it would be given instantly?

if you bought the x1 version with no intention to play it, then i can understand the wait might be annoying. but these promotional things have taken time before. same thing with the Gears ulitmate edition, it was a while after the game came out that the codes for the Judgement etc came through.

Honestly, I just didn't feel like commenting on this but yep, complaining about free always strikes me as just weird.

What it be better to not get both copies for the price of one but you need to wait a week or so for the Free copy or you rather pay for the PC version right now? :P

Yeah it does matter....I did preorder the XB1 version for the PC code and 2 other free games, seemed like a great value at the time, they never really specified when the PC code would be available but common sense would dictate the same day of the game release. I had no intention on playing the XB1 version once they announced the PC version. This is silliness.

Can't say that I'm surprise. I was wondering why I haven't receive my codes just yet but I can live with that. I was gonna play this on my Xbox One first then PC later anyway.

As for the PC version problems, I'm assuming that the test /development systems had that much RAM (16GB) and at some point it was ferried along to whoever wrote up the Specs. For the developers, it was most likely easier to develop that way. I'm wondering if this game has some kind of Xbox One virtual machine of sorts that emulates functions of the Xbox One that the PC doesn't have. This would of course cause performance issues, and need exorbitant amounts of RAM. (Or it could just be some kind of caching that takes advantage of large surpluses of RAM). I mean RAM is not at all expensive. If you're spending $300 on a 970, you can spend $60 for 16GB of RAM.

Thanks for your impressions of the game of the generation! I'll be playing it soon myself though I already know it'll be even better than Halo 5 ... if such a thing is even possible.

I would have just bought the PC version had I known....maybe it was my own fault for not digging enough but according to that report I posted it was just barley confirmed about the code release, which is bad customer service to not have this info available for the customer to make the best choice for them.

this is with DSR 2.25X to 3840x2160

Quite the improvement but it's obviously more taxing and you can kiss 60fps goodbye and no it doesnt support sli/crossfire

Not really sure why I bought it. Wanted something to "push" my PC. I currently have the money so whatevs.

This is the first game I have bought on the Windows store. Even got Rise of the Tomb Raider on Steam.

As you walk around and about, the graphics are nothing to write home about, just fine I guess, lots of details though it's fun exploring.... but it is when you start using all your abilities that the graphics engine truly shines. Also, I agree that it should not be played as a cover shooter, I think they might have designed it like that to entice you to use your time powers, which are really fun to use by the way.

Now my only minor complaint so far, (minor act 1 spoilers ahead............................) is that Jack suddenly starts killing all these people and appears to be almost unaffected by it, emotionally, like nothing happened, they could have done that better......but no big deal, I mean can be explained as well, just like a movie they don't necessarily show you every scene in the continuity ....and you could say he is being affected by his new powers. Oh well, that's what I like about sci-fi.....different ways to interpret it, and it's just the start of the story.

If they had made Jack like emotionally about him having a hard problem killing people, he would've gotten the complaints on him being all emo and for Jack himself, he did talk about he used a gun before and it almost like he's done this shit in the past from what I got out of him. It's not like he's Alan Wake after all who was a hell of a jerk and Jack is pretty much different from Alan. The graphics are just standards, wasn't expecting ground breaking to say the least but the fracture of time is what I was amaze so that's saying something. the combat is similar to current Tomb Raider but Remedy could've done better then that at least make it more to Gears cover at the very least. Loving the time bending powers btw. My complaints so far is the pistols are unlimited ammo and it breaks the immersion in my opinion.

It's actually 10 hours, without finding all the collectibles (more like 15 with collectibles). I bought the game for $59.99. For that price I got the Xbox version, the PC version, Alan Wake, Alan Wake Nightmare and Alan Wake DLC. Great value for the price. Not to mention, playing it right now, it's awesome.

The most disappointing thing of all, so far, are the reload animations. They set the absolute standard for being ass. This is some low budget last gen game kinda shit.

Of all developers to get reloading guns wrong, I didn't expect Remedy to be the one.

I played the game last night and have to agree that its not consistently beautiful but mostly exceptional looking game. My main beef with the game is the game itself. The movement is laggy and overall feels like a mediocre to poorly made game. Its very basic in execution in that it feels just functional and does not try to go beyond just being functional. Unfortunately I enjoyed the FMV more than the time I played the game. Its a shame that there is significantly more advances in the game's graphics but very little advances in core gameplay. At the moment the game is very scripted and walk friendly. Hopefully this changes as I delve deeper into the game but my first impressions were not good just OK.

Well after my first play I must say I'm impressed. Soundtrack and sound FX are out of this world. Graphically it has clear limitations- don't lose time doing comparisons with U4 cause you will look silly- but the art direction... OMG, beautiful job. And above all the gunplay. Honestly, from the first moment I had absolutely no problems at all, and I must say that I don't remember any game having such a rewarding and satisfying gunplay, truly superb.

On a negative side, the graphics can be a bit odd at times. Some textures drop into extremely low res - I hope they patch it soon- the main antagonist model looks odd in some occasions and the low res of some effects look odd.

@davillain-: Yeah I do remember him saying that....actually I just found the Jack Joyce dossier file, and it explains a lot about his background.

@howmakewood: How is the performance at 1440p max settings? Does it dip below 60fps? I also have a 980 Ti.

I couldn't say, have to install riva tuner server on phone or something for monitoring UWA, but it was quite smooth and didn't really notice major drops

@dynamitecop: Could not agree more. This game is so well done. I have hit a couple minor bugs but sure they will be ironed out. But damn if this game isn't addictive! You just get sucked in. The game play is new and challenging.

I dig it.

I am not usually an Achievement hunter, but this game makes me want them all.

Tho the performance doesn't seem to be equal for everyone, should take a look at the gaf performance thread for qb, some poster was having issues on 980ti then there was some fury x post with terrible frame times

I am too. I probably try and get all the collectibles with multiple play through to get most out of game.

According to the reviews on the Windows Store, they're having trouble downloading the game. Stops at about 20GB then errors out, resulting in them having to restart the download. Yup definitely waiting.
