Quantum Break Hype Thread - GS Review 6.0

I was truly excited for this game. I played a good portion of it today with a good friend of mine who purchased the game. It's a solid game, but far from great or a masterpiece. In my humble opinion, it is not worth the $60 asking price and think the Gamespot's score of 6/10 is both fair and warranted.

I decided to cancel my pre-order of the game (which I was going to pickup from Best Buy later today) and rent it instead when it comes to RedBox or purchase the game when it goes on sale or clearance.. It is a win-win situation as I can finish the experience I started with my friend and save a good 50 bucks in the process. I simply can not justify the full $60 asking price for what the game offers. This is coming from a life long MS and Xbox supporter. I have never had any desire to own any other platform as I don't have time to game as much as I once did. The older I get, the more picky I am at which games I'm willing to spend full price on. Unfortunately, as much as it pains me to say, this game is not one of them.

The game looked mediocre from the beginning. I looked at the walkthrough which is already available on youtube because I like third person shooters. The story was uninteresting, the set pieces were boring with nothing but cut scenes, the live action parts were trash and ruined the immersion -as did the loading screens in between chapters, the characters were bland, the character models were average at best and the game's world was boring. Other things like repetitive game play, the lack of color, uninspiring level design and obvious over use of the time effect on the environments ruined this game. It was short too with no replay value. Alan Wake is better than this game. Quantum Break is not the game that MS hyped it up to be and it deserves no more than a 6/10 from everyone. The game will be forgotten about by next week.

I just finished Act 1. This games plot is right up my alley. This is another one of those games, like The Last of Us, where I feel like the "video game" portions are getting in the way of the story telling though. This may have just made a better T.V. Show than video game. It's kinda generic beyond the best time things. Then again I'm still pretty early. Graphics wise I think it looks slightly better than I expected even though the screen tearing is pretty jarring and some of the character faces are off. This is a pretty cool game overall so far. I just need to do everything I can to finish it this week. If I don't I may never with the heavy hitters coming next week. That and Trackmania Turbo is still heavy on my mind.

Another thing. GOW2 and Ascension already used time travel and time powers as did Ratchet & Clank Future so that is nothing original. People keep saying they took a risk and were ambitious but they just reused an old idea that Zelda has used back in the day as well as Chrono Trigger. Time Shift also did the same abilities and time rift effects.

LOL I think the "risk" taken was more in the mixture of the The 22 minute episodes with variations effected by what the player chooses to do in junctions, not necessarily time powers.

LOL even then Wing Commander already did that concept back in the 90s with live action sequences playing out the choices you made and it was much better implemented. Loved WC3.

Also, Tomb Raider and Indy Jones games did what Uncharted did before it but doesn't mean another game cant or shouldn't do these things. Remedy tried to make the best game they could with this I would wager. It hasn't been received the way they probably hoped critically but that's life. I haven't knocked the ball out of the park at every turn at bat in life either.

The term "blue falcon" in the US Army means "buddy fucker". Someone who would leave a fellow soldier out to dry to save their own skin. Just thought you were having a laugh with it.

The difference is that no one says Uncharted did anything never done before as far as the concept or game play ...just did it much better. Also Uncharted made TR change its style to compete with it. T wouldn't be relevant again without Uncharted giving CD the ideas for the reboot and sequel. Indiana Jones is a completely different medium as you could say Star Trek did what Mass Effect did first.

Cows are spending an awful lot of time in this Xbox Quantum Break thread. They are on high alert due to the overwhelming praise for the game from everyone here who has been playing it.

Guy guys...cows...just fire up your PS4 and enjoy MLB The Show 2016. It's the best baseball game ever in the history of baseball games. Why are you here posting when you could be playing that AAA game right here, right now. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Can't this be said for every game/ movie/ music out there ever created that got negative reviews. No matter how bad a product there'll be some people that like it and no matter how great a product there'll be some that hate it.

When the Order came out there were still some people liking it, heck even that game Devil's Third on the Wii U had some people liking it, on the other hand games like Witcher 3 and MGS 5 had some people bashing them.

It's just the natural order of life.....

I can definitely say that I too enjoy Haze on PS3, very underrated game but still fun to play.
