"Graphics don't matter" is the new cliche phrase of the year...

I'm so tired of hearing it over and over... Please stop trying to impress us with your "I see games for their inner beauty" crap... Graphics mean as much to us as they always have... they sell consoles, they immerse the gamer, they are everybit as important as anything else in a game...They're art.

Graphics are very important. But thats not to say art style isn't. If you make a game good to look at with nice art style aka Okami, you'll be happy.

All in all, no one would want to go back to pac man days.

I've never said graphics don't matter because they do. I just think gameplay>graphics. And it irritates me to no end when people pass up on a game or says it sucks because the graphics aren't as jaw dropping as Gears of War or Mass Effect.peaceful_anger

And the graphics don't matter as much as gameplay, but the graphics are still important in improving the game's atmosphere. Not even sheep would still play games with pong graphics if they had the Xbox 360 and PS3 as an option.
Actually, if Nintendo were making games for it, and it was affordable, I would buy it because the games would still be great. *backspace won't work.*

Well, if you take gamespot's rating system:

(Gameplay = Tilt) > (Value = Graphics) > Sound

Gameplay and Tilt being twice as important as graphics.

Gamespot favors gameplay more, but graphics still matter.

Nobody says graphics dont matter, but they are nothing compared to gameplay - otherwise thousands of people wouldn't still play old games on emulators or older consoles.

Less photorealism doesnt mean its not pretty. Super Mario World is still a graphically wonderful games, and that was made 15 years ago. And Less power doesnt mean its not still enjoyable, otherwise I wouldnt enjoy Ogre Battle on the SNES etc. over 10 years after their release.

Its like saying KISS Pinball must be better than Manic Miner just because KISS Pinball has 3D graphics :roll:
