I own all consoles but i still await a game that has:

-Multiple DIFFERENT enemies on screen.

-Drawback distance of 1km.

**Lair is the first one to archieve this IMO. With different and loads of enemies on screen, each with different programed AI. (Ice dragons, Rhinoes, thousand of soldiers, and a colossus on one screen, each programed with different AI).

**Draw back distance without objects not randomly popping up  like 360's Saints Row and Oblivion. i dont see anything like thiss in Lair, where objects just randomly

I havnt seen a 360 game do this yet.

"Viva Pinata can not be done on PS3"

 Too heavy a demand on parallax mapping.  You'll never see a game like that on the PS3.  Ever.

wanna discuss that too?  every system has pros and cons.  move on.

And if you remove the graphics engine used for PS3 games, lo and behold they too look like crap. Amazing what we just discovered! If you remove a key component to the graphics, they no longer look as good! We must report this discovery.

just like DMC4 couldn't be done right?

and how Factor5 said it's easier to port from ps3 to 360 because the 360 is more flexible.

who said DMC4 couldn't be done on 360? if you haven't looked at the screens, the game doesn't look all that impressive (graphics wise). GS even said it was not meeting next-gen standards for graphics on one of their hands-on.

still have yet to see a game this gen that can't be played on both systems with minor downgrades and upgrades in each of their respective systems. one system may not be able to do 'task a' better, but it can do 'task b', the graphical gap is too small this gen to think a game would just be -impossible- ever.

Lair supports native full HD 1080p graphics and 7.1 uncompressed audio [1] and also takes advantage of the following technologies:

  • Progressive Mesh is a technique rendered by the Cell microprocessor, which allows for an intensive amount of detail to be placed upon vast number of objects, both up-close and far away.
  • High-Dynamic Range Lighting: All of the lights, shadows, reflections, and highlights in Lair are in HDR, and are rendered in real-time by the Cell and RSX, thus allowing the lighting scheme to completely change, just like the time of day does in-game, however, due to the advanced programming of the lighting system, it will be ever-changing, and rarely, if ever the same twice.
  • Real-time Dynamic Physics: Every second of gameplay, Lair renders hundreds of physics effects on everything from your dragon, down to the cloak on an enemy soldier. All enemies and allies have their own physics-driven animations, and have individually programmed ragdolls.
  • Real-time Fluid Dynamics: All of the water effects in Lair, such as waves, are run by real-time fluid dynamics on the Cell.
  • Parallax Shaders: Parallax shaders are used on almost every object in Lair, including fire and clouds.
  • Real-Time Renderings/Volumetric Effects: The fire in Lair is rendered in real-time, and has its own physics. All of the clouds, smoke, and fog effects are volumetric. Lava, rain, wind, fur, and more are also rendered in real-time.

who said DMC4 couldn't be done on 360? if you haven't looked at the screens, the game doesn't look all that impressive (graphics wise). GS even said it was not meeting next-gen standards for graphics on one of their hands-on. 

Did you even read the hands on? back at TGS, they thought that DMC was actually a God OF War Title, that the right analogue was used to roll the character. None of the DMC games had the right analogue as role :? I rather check out 1UP,IGN, and GT hands on, they know what they are on about.

any game can be redone on another platform.  it's simply a function of what compromises your going to make and from where.  Bungie will say the same about Halo 3.  Bioware will say the same of Mass Effect.  It's a half-truth.  A game can't be done on that other piece of hardware...but if they finished the sentence, it would read like this:

"_______ game can't be done on ________ hardware [without making some changes]." 

It can be done.  Anything else that's said is just a dev trying to sell their product.

Halo 3 runs on it's own engine built from the ground-up for that game, like all bungie projects. Again, cows demonstrate that they dont have the slightest understanding of the things they bash so often.

Gears of War can't run on PS3 because of it's split Ram architecture, Alan Wake can't run on any single core system. Seriously, you guys need to stop buying into developer hype.

Ok, lets say if it is being from ground up, lets say it is still in Pre-Alpha stage to, the same can be said for Lair. Its Pri-Alpha, and its built from the ground up, and it shows what Next Gen really means. Halo3 however hasnt shown anything mindblowing, hell, it looks like Halo 2.

Just because you haven't seen a 360 game do this, doesn't mean it CAN'T do it. Plus, Oblivion is a solid example of this. I have no idea what you're talking about, things don't pop up randomly in Oblivion and the draw distance is ENORMOUS in Oblivion.

but theres not as much loading screens in lair AND theirs TON AND TONS of more things happening in lair

Lair never even had a pre-alpha build. You really haven't got a clue what you're talking about. The footage shown of Halo 3 is from months ago; running on a modified halo 2 engine. The game now runs on the halo 3 engine, built specifically for this game; like all bungie projects.

The halo 3 BETA starts in a couple of weeks; yet the game isn't out for half a year. It is impossible for Lair to be in alpha, if it's out in two months. Impossible.

Yeah just like Capcom said that DMC4 couldn't have bee done on 360. Good thing they decided to make it multiplatform on 360 because they would have been laughed to death at by Team Ninja when Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out.

Capcom, "DMC4 can only be done on PS3."

Tecmo, "I'm then why does our Ninja Gaiden 2 look so much better? Hell why does our remake of an xbox game look better?"

Moral of the story. Don't listen to devs anything on 360 can be done on PS3 and vice versa. Cows you guys claimed that Itagaki was a freaking Saint because he was real about developers complaining about PS3 architecture now you're just being hypocritical about it. If the dev is talented enough he can make the game for each system, period end of discussion. Sure there might be some minor differences but more or less they will be the same.

Crackdown also had incredible draw distance with a bunch of things onscreen and some pretty impressive explosions. I don't recall slowdown being an issue at all in that game. You could climb to the top of the agency tower and shoot a rocket launcher and hit something miles away and still see the impact.

Just because you haven't seen a 360 game do this, doesn't mean it CAN'T do it. Plus, Oblivion is a solid example of this. I have no idea what you're talking about, things don't pop up randomly in Oblivion and the draw distance is ENORMOUS in Oblivion. 

I never said it can. I said i await a game to reach this level. It amazing that a first wave game can already archieve things.

I own oblivion, and sometimes details need to be loaded when you are exploring. Just check the 360 Vs PS3 comparision video on GTrailers, and you will notice it.

I own all consoles but i still await a game that has:

-Multiple DIFFERENT enemies on screen.

-Drawback distance of 1km.

**Lair is the first one to archieve this IMO. With different and loads of enemies on screen, each with different programed AI. (Ice dragons, Rhinoes, thousand of soldiers, and a colossus on one screen, each programed with different AI).

**Draw back distance without objects not randomly popping up like 360's Saints Row and Oblivion. i dont see anything like thiss in Lair, where objects just randomly

I havnt seen a 360 game do this yet.

 You own nothing. Nobody who own X360 will never hype crap looking Lair, it's just laughable after Gears, Crackdown and so on.

The original Far crys draw in distance was 1.2km with 20 or more enimies on screen as well / thread.

A halo 2 vamped engine running on a next gen console? its pretty obvious it will have a large range.

 

Halo 3 runs on it's own engine built from the ground-up for that game, like all bungie projects. Again, cows demonstrate that they dont have the slightest understanding of the things they bash so often.

Ok, lets say if it is being from ground up, lets say it is still in Pre-Alpha stage to, the same can be said for Lair. Its Pri-Alpha, and its built from the ground up, and it shows what Next Gen really means. Halo3 however hasnt shown anything mindblowing, hell, it looks like Halo 2.

Lair never even had a pre-alpha build. You really haven't got a clue what you're talking about. The footage shown of Halo 3 is from months ago; running on a modified halo 2 engine. The game now runs on the halo 3 engine, built specifically for this game; like all bungie projects.

The halo 3 BETA starts in a couple of weeks; yet the game isn't out for half a year. It is impossible for Lair to be in alpha, if it's out in two months. Impossible.

and what do you know about Pre-Alpha stages and stuff? The dev himself said it was Prealpha, a game can be optimized at any time and vamped up near the end to, so you - clueless.

Let me get this straight - did he seriously just say the current build-state of Lair is pre-alpha build, yet it's releasing in two months? Do these people even know what the words they're using mean?
