So soyu're complaining about how the hub part of Hyrule never changed? Because outside of every dungeon is a new area. But whatever.

I'll re ask my question; when did atmosphere become so important in non horror games?

Sushiglutton

Atmosphere is obv important in action adventure games and RPGs. I don't think that's something new.

Really? Because I've never even considered it before stepping foot into this forum.

I liked it. It's definitely not better than OoT though.

That's fine, we all have different priorities. Maybe I have low atmosphere standards :P. I think Assassin's Creed, Batman and RDR all have great, but very different, atmosphere.

This.

HOw is Ocarina of Time's world repetitive. I am a stickler for interesting and diverse environments, and OoT nailed it. Every place looks unique and each have their own feel. Even if its a grassy field to a lake surrounded by grass there is a huge difference. I honestly do no know how anyone could say OoT has repetitive environments.

Our definitions of Atmosphere must be different or we are thinking of different words because the whole OoT games had areas that looked like I had seen it before. I will add this only implies to areas outside most vilages. However, that is where you spend the majority of the game.

So soyu're complaining about how the hub part of Hyrule never changed? Because outside of every dungeon is a new area. But whatever.

Outside of everydungeon that isn't in the village is the most of the time a bland recolored area. i will give you that there are exceptions. Also, the dungeons themselves outside of the stomach of the beast is terribly repetitive. Not just in atmosphere to. Both games are repetitive regardless, but neither are master pieces so does it matter?

Dude... I think you and I played a different game. The areas inside, outside and around dungeons are various, but whatever.

Maybe it's just me but I don't care if I'm a part of the world or not. In the end, it all boils down to gameplay.

Unfortunatley for that argument, that's not saying much, because there haven't been a huge number of western games. And, to be honest, I had more fun with Red steel 2 than I did with RDR.

I haven't heard of too many, but I could be wrong. It does happen, and I'll admit it if I am. And by western games I mean games set in the west like RDR.

I'm sorry, not the largest, but there have even been western games made by devs in the east. it is not that rare as you calim. However, in terms of quality you are right.

Ok as long as we didn't have some miscommunication thing or whatever.

I honestly didn't know that there were more than I though, the most I've heard of is Red Dead games, the Call of Juarez games, and GUN.

western as in the setting and not where the game was made? People like to call movies and games about cowboys and stuff in the 1800s and early 1900s in locations like in RDR, "Western".

I recently completed it as well. While I loved that game and thought that it was great especially the open world. In my mind I kept comparing it to Zelda. the game reminded my of it, but something was missing. I'm not sure what to call what was missing, maybe a soul, a feeling of life, love from the devolpers. I don't know what it was but something was missing

I thought it was ok. Impressive as hell (like many Rockstar games), but in terms of gameplay.. it was ok and I'll just leave it at that.

There were quite a few better games to come out last year though, and the only one I felt was a masterpiece was SMG2.

When info of this game first started coming up I was extremly hyped(I love rockstar, I love the wild west, and i love free roaming adventure). But when I played it I was dissapointed(probably my fault for hyping it to death). I still greatly enjoyed it but it was not a masterpiece imo.

Opinions are great...and it was my opinion that RDR was a bore-fest about half way into the game. Same missions over, and over. Hardly a masterpiece.
It was even worse once you went back to the farm and started doing the stupid ranch hand missions. Also only a brain dead nat couldn't see that predictable ending coming.
