Dumbest. Ending. Ever. So no.GunSmith1_basicI loved the ending except for all the annoying yelps that Jack said "WORK YA DAMN NAG!"
I'm sorry, but it just made no F***ing sense.
Who the hell walks right into the middle of twenty well-armed enemies ant tries to shoot them?!?! Had that not been a cutscene, I'd have handed their asses to them.
it's definitely one of the most well-made authentic pieces of video game entertainment ever released.
i'd say it is a masterpiece on many levels , a lot of people might not like the gameplay and claim rightfully that the game gets repetitive on some levels, but a certain level of appreciation is expected from gamers that play this game; the attention to detail and passion put into RDR deserves, at the very least, respect.
walking through armadillo and its meticulously rendered houses, passing through the frontier on a horse, everything is incredibly well done. definitely one of the few games that are worth the full 60 dollars.
One of my absolute favorite games of this generation, gets a solid 9.5 from me. It's only not a 10 because Mexico got really boring after a while in terms of story missions. It's a masterpiece yes, but I think OoT is still better.
And to Head of Games (can't get quotes to work for some reason.):
He knew they wouldn't leave him and his family alone. The number of men they sent after him even after promising to leave him be made that pretty obvious. Yes he could have run. He didn't because he knew - or at least believed - that they wouldn't keep going after his family after they got him. Marston clearly loved his family very much, so it made plenty of sense to me that he would do whatever it took to protect them. One man can't fight off the entire U.S. government, game mechanics aside, so he sacrificed himself to spare his family.
It's not better than OoT, but there is no doubt that it's a modern materpiece, and the ending (and especially the aftermath imo) is right up there with the greatest moments of gaming ever.
I still prefer GTA IV though, I found it to be a much more replayable game than RDR, much due to fast cars combined with exaggerated though realistic looking physics and the awesome ragdoll system = hours upon hours of mindless sadistic fun. :P While in return all RDR had was the hunting & collecting elements, and the game kind of lost its merit once you've 100%'ed it.
Man, if it weren't for Rockstar I'd quit gaming long ago, lol.
i am playing it atm and it is SO good!!!! one of the best this gen.I finished the game yesterday and it is one of the best games I've ever played, even better than ocarina of time
anyone agree?

Awesome game. One of 2010's best, but Vanquish and GoW3 were the absolute best that year.Master_ShakeXXX
NOTHING about god of war 3 is better than red dead redemption, NOTHING. it's a fun rental though.
i've yet to play vanquish.
No, not at all. RDR > RDR. Everything about RDR was leagues above RDR, as least mostly. Personally RDR is the true masterpiece, while RDR was just a pile of ****.AmazingGamingYeah more midget clowns hooting and fat clowns with gatling guns and dynamite, thats what a Western game needs! Wait, what? :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzQZiztdMfE Don't think you quite understand, RDr just was simply better than RDr, don't deny that one part of RDR beat the whole RDR experience put together.
RDR is a 8, but it is overrated The story is hideously flawed, poorly paced, with one dimensional characters, pointless tasks, no choice except for side missions, morality system that doesn't work...etc. The story brights spots are at the begining (with Bonnie and Marshall) and the Cormac McCarthy ending. The middle sucks, especially when the three stooges (Nigel Dickens, Irish, and Seth) are introduced. This game could have easily been called Red Dead Retarded....whats with all the characters having mental problems? Most characters are either A) Stupid or B) Psychotic and clearly messed up. Look at the stranger missions...it actually gets predictable with their twists. The world is just not believable. Rockstar are overrated storytellers. Silly game critics want to praise their plots for being a movie like experience, but R* has so many flaws in their narrative, its nowhere near close. Same goes to GTAIV. Hopefully LA Noire will break this trend.texasgoldrush
I agree wit this post. Story was bad until the end.

It has better graphics and tighter controls (I still can't understand why R* related games have such bad movement), that's a start.

What really makes me mad is Bonnie, the BEST character ion the game, just completely disappears from the story until the end after she is hanged but survives. She is not even EASED out of the story, the McFaralane's just vanish. The greatness of the story vanishes at this point as well. Now I have to deal with the three idiots....with more idiots in Mexico, and some more in Blackwater. In fact Reyes gets WORST character in the game. Rockstar just doesn't know how to weave tones together....its irriatating, and the rebel leader highlights this flaw.
RDR's graphics were better, espeically artistically than GOW. RDR is more inspired than GOW III as well. GOW III is just a corporate game nothing more.

And Reyes is probably one of the worst of them all.
IMO the game was at it's best in the last "set" of missions as far as story goes, but the gameplay was just boring... any mission in the game that didn't involve shooting was bad.

RDR's graphics were better, espeically artistically than GOW. RDR is more inspired than GOW III as well. GOW III is just a corporate game nothing more.It has great draw distance, some beautiful vistas, but nothing in it was more impressive than the boss fights in GOW3 showing off a huge scale. Then there's polish which is another category GOW3 has RDR beat, RDR has too much pop in and some bad framerate drops to be on the same level of graphical polish.
Everyone has their favorite games. I would give Donkey Kong Country 2 a 10 even though most would probably give it around 8.0.Meinhard1
Donkey Kong Country 2 is the second best platformer ever after Super Mario World. There's no doubt it's a 10.
