I can see GS giving it a 6/10 just because they're Xbox hating Sony shills, and probably feeling the entitled sense of rage because they can't play it on PlayStation. Surely the MetaCritic score will dragged down by sites nobody has ever heard of from countries most people couldn't point to on a map.
But on the upside, it won't matter. 10 years ago a game's MetaCritic score could be the game's instant death. These days with Game Pass, review sites can crap all over a game and it could thrive regardless because 25-30 million subscribers can check it out for themselves at no major sacrifice, whereas 10 years ago getting people to part with $60 would be an iffy proposition for a low scoring game. High On Life on Game Pass demonstrated that despite poor reviews, people will check it out anyways, and strong word of mouth will counter-balance the shills in gaming media putting their thumbs on the scales.
So, what's it score? Don't matter to me, I'll play it anyways, make up my own mind. Seems most the hate for the game now comes from the same people who were crying and begging for it and claiming MS took it away from PlayStation and how regulators should go after MS for it. Now that the definitive answer is "no, no, never in a million years, oh hell no", now they're like "that's okay, the game is trash anyways".
I see people recently mostly critical of its graphics, which is funny because it's pretty much on par graphically with Deathloop, or Arkane's other games for that matter. Deathloop was widely celebrated for its gameplay, but the Sony Defense Force seemed fine with this back when Deathloop was a PS console exclusive. Now that Redfall won't be coming to PS consoles, suddenly these graphics are problematic. But, typical reaction given context we're all aware of.
