Rein: PS3 *DOES NOT* have enough resources for all UT3 maps

If the ps3 doesn't have enough resources, neither will the 360, end of discussion. Ownage would only apply if ps3 could not handle 360 maps.rarsi123

um, its well cemented now that the 360 has more useable memory than the PS3 so it obviously will be able to handle maps that the PS3 cannot

UT3 will be great on the 360 and will be the game I'm expecting considering the 360's only limitation. Cows on the other hand have been bragging for months that the PS3 version will be identicle (some said even better) to the PC version simply because it supports KB/M and they honestly feel that the PS3 is more powerful than top tier PC's..

You're assuming that the 360 has enough free ram to get the job done here (presuming video ram is the issue). It may not either.

Graphics card? That and the RAM are the two main areas the PS3 lacks in....well that and getting the most out of the Cell when working in conjunction with the others.

You spend approximately US$200 dollars every 4 years on an online service that would otherwise be free on the PC, not including the fact that you also haveto purchase mods and what not for about$10 dollars that would otherwise be free on the PC. Add theadded cost per console game ($60 dollars - $40 dollars) and the accessories like extra controllers and such. Then yes, its only a couple hundred more.

yes you can plug in your 360 controller. And the $10 your paying is to Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo and is it that hard to install and adjust your settings? And you don't really need to update your drivers everytime a game comes out

So the PS3 doesn't get all the maps --big deal. At least its coming out on the console, unlike the original Xbox where ithad the dumbed-down Unreal Championship. The more important matter is how it will run. If it runs smoothly, plays well, and looks beautiful then you will have happy PS3 fans.Mortok

What the hell does RAM have anything to do with how many maps are in a game? The only logical explanation is that since the game on the PS3 only supports like 32 players the addition of the 64 would be pointless.

I would not presume number of players a map is designed for would be the deciding factor. With user-created maps, there will be maps of all shapes and sizes that we'll be downloading. Anyone who has played a UT game on PC for any length of time knows this. We also know that while the big maps may have a bit more space, it's still not a reason to include them, as many UT's large maps are enjoyable even if a room isn't filled to the brim with players. Having only 32 players in a big room doesn't make the game less fun; it simply changes the dynamics of how you approach the level.

Consequently, I think the presumption that they'd leave off big maps just because they're big is a poor presumption. Especially given Epic's "let the gamers decide" approach to things. I'm sure they'd put it on the disc (surely there's a ton of extra space on the BD-ROM) and let the gamers decide if it's worth playing if the PS3 could handle it.
