I can do that too, a rebooted game with no longer horror and crappy story and control vs an excellent designed game with great story and gameplay. Also you are wrong about re4's influence on uc2 and cover based 3rd person shooters in general. Killswitch was released before all those copies of it and it was the first third person shooter with a cover based combat.A generic tomb raider rip off vs one of the most influencial games of all time? I don't see much contest here.

hold left ctrl to pull out gun, aim with WASD. (read: the most awful controls i've ever seen in a PC game) and it's the uglier version. god knows why, but it is.The fact that Uncharted 2 is tied with RE4 in the poll makes me sad. Cowspot am confirmed.

Stop hating. The question is which game is better NOW, not which game had a bigger impact. Games like Gears and Uncharted improved upon what RE4 started. I played through RE4 like a100 times when the game came out in 2005 but now six years later better games have come out. You don't need to be a Cow to understand this.

And nice to see the poll having a fair fight, and not ownage as people claim it is.
I have played and beaten both multiple times.
U2 is still a decent, well polished game. But RE4 is better due to the impact it had on third person shooters. Hell U2 might not have even existed if RE4 wasn't made.
It's silly to think that no one would ever come up with over the shoulder cam.actually, comparing a 2005 game with a 2010 game is unfair for the former. if the latter can't keep up with standards set up 5 years ago, then there's something wrong.Ok so you made a poll for a PS3 exclusive vs a game that released isince 2005-2006 around on every single console of that time plus Wii and PC...

Resident Evil 4.
Uncharted 2 is an elegant game, so much about it oozes polish and sheen, and it has been very thoughtfully created.
However.
Resident Evil 4 took risks and was genre defining- it didn't stick to tired and true formulas like Uncharted, and it genuinely threatens the player with challenge and risk - its action sequences from the first Ganados village feel like they're on a knifes edge, and the game keeps ratcheting up memorable set pieces and enemies as you progress.
Whereas Uncharted 2 has this plateau of design; it's all remarkably well done but it lacks that scaling difficulty and foe variety. The platforming never really challenges and the enemies except for a few mid and end game are all very well, stale and don't force you to rethink your approach.
Which I think has to do with how meticulously polished and designed it is, and why it will never be a milestone game compared to the likes of Resident Evil 4 or a more modern example in a different genre - Demon' Souls.
For all its advantages the lack of risk and chance on so many levels is its most glaring fault.

i'm not a hater and, as far as i know, i didn't vote for you on that contest :P OoT is still a great game, and we owe it 90% of what's considered a given in 3D games nowadays. but it's a dated game. camera was beyond broken, lock-on could have been better, among other things. just look at twilight princess, it's basically a remake without the "seven years" part :P[QUOTE="sanim02"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] OoT is, control-wise, a broken game. the formula it created, the standards it brought, the revolutionary features about it, all of them have been perfected.BrunoBRS

Resident Evil 4, no question. Capcom wishes they could make another RE4 but failed w/ that co-op nonsense in RE5(should've been a seperate mode, IMO).
UC2 is a great game this gen, but I prefer RE4 100x over.
Ewwww RE4 on PC.:P
sanim02
Stock? Yeah PC got the middle finger. With the strong modding community though RE4 turned out to be really awesome on PC. Mouse support, high-res textures, HDR (Even though fake :P ) and way more. Theres even weapons from MW2, custom made skins, sounds that make the gun sound powerful and not a weak popgun...just so much stuff :D RE4 PC is the definitive version.

Wait, what!? Im not gona even try to comment on this bs. The U2 being like gears bs.Nostalgia= past. Doesnt have to be 20 years ago or ten. Heck, it could be 2 years.[QUOTE="Wiimotefan"]

Yeah, maybe if you're 10 years old bud.
UC2 came out in the past. Does that mean people are already nostalgic for it?
When I think nostalgia, I think of NES games that I hold fond memories of even when they are crap. I'm sorry, but I don't have highly exaggerated memories from my youth about RE4. Its just another game I played a few years back that is still comparable and in many cases better than similar games today.

Hmm.. I see your point. But give Re4 4 more years, then it will be nostalgic?Eventually sure. People who played RE4 in their youth and thought it was the greatest thing ever will surely exagerated its greatness in years to come. I just dont see nostalgia as a factor now. When I see people claiming FF7 and OoT as the greatest games ever, thats what I consider nostalgia. The games where excellent for their time and in the case of OoT the game is still great even by todays standards, but wildly over praised.
uncharted 2 by far it's not even funny, Re4 killed the series for me. I remember stoping playing the game after you fight the monster in the lake. RE4 is probably one of the most overrated game of all time
da_illest101
Ok, I completely understand where you're coming from in terms of RE4 "killing the series" for you. If Capcom really wanted to make such drastic changes they should have just made a new series. I guess they were banking on introducing a new formula under an old name for marketing purposes and it worked. Unfortunately fans of the old styIe get left in the dust. I gotcha on that.
But if you look past the title, the game itself is outstanding.
Its funny that you quit the game LITERALLY AT THE BEGINNING and then turn around and call it the most overrated game of all time. You really have no right to as you haven't played the game. You didn't get to experience the great level design and tight gameplay systems in full effect.
Maybe its not a great game for RE fans, but it is a great game nonetheless.
Yeah, RE4 was more heavy gameplay oriented, hella fun. These are both completely different games, but phenomenal at what they do right. It certainly feels like RE4 had the most potent impact.
I'd say RE4 revolutionised the genre, Uncharted 2 evovled it.
tonitorsi
Uncharted 2 evolved it's genre as much as Halo: CE did... They are just polished games period. (Still Excellent games though)
I mean the entire Uncharted franchise did nothing to revolutionise gaming. While the Resident Evil franchise defined survival horror practically and revolutionised gaming with RE4.

Both of you have sad,so very sad opinions. :twisted:Meh. I liked both Uncharted games. Didn't love them at all. RE4 I beat about 10 times. Both Uncharted? One and done rentals. Granted, I don't have time to game like I used to but something about RE 4 was more fun to me then UC. Perhaps it was the intentionally over the top "horror" stuff instead of grounded in "reality" until the very end stupid supernatural crap that BOTH Uncharted games through at you.
Maybe Drake just got on my nerves and Indiana Jones did it all better? Who knows. I just know that RE4 is a game I enjoyed immensly, and both Uncharted games as well made as they are were finished once never to be played again.
Opinions.
