It has one unique strength over the other platforms, and that's Bloodborne which....that's great. 1 game in 3 years.

I get it, if you only own one system the PS4 is serviceable, but I would never take a console as my first choice today. PC is much cheaper to game on, and it objectively mops the floor with console libraries both in having better versions of the multiplats, and in having hundreds of its own high quality unique titles... not just a handful. Plus, it's capable of playing games in any genre.

The PS2... now that was a system. Heck, any system from that generation was worth owning. Even the two year old Dreamcast had a large lineup of high quality titles unique to it. It launched with more worthwhile exclusive games than the PS4 and Xbone have gotten so far.

@GoldenElementXL: no chance.. It would be a wasted effort on anyone's part for one simple reason... No one would follow it.

And it's not totally system wars fault.... Yes many old guard posters who entertained the metagame have gone to other pastures, and in its place we have a wave of folks who simply believe whichever review best fits their agenda (ahem metacritic...) but the industry itself has put out their own system wars fire.

The other factor is that our metagame was out evolved by an industry that places emphasis on services and features and "oh yeah we got all the big games too".

Gaming is a multiplatform hobby, plain and simple... . And what's even more sterile is that the exclusives that are released aren't guaranteed to light the world on fire... And often don't sans a few.

So for me, as much as I'd like to wave a magic wand and bring us back to a day where we could take a game like Quantum Break and call it the biggest exclusive flop of the year/gen, and discuss it's place in the xbox universe going forward... We instead have folks who will support and defend their arguments based on whichever media review they'd like while the rest just simply say, meh, it's a multiplat. . Its all just really sterile.

On a personal note, AAA games are not even the most exciting aspect of gaming anymore... We actually ignore better games so we can discuss the creativly starved big budget nonsense.

max payne 1 was defenitely goty material, scored 9.2 on gamespot and it scored very high on pretty much any respectable gaming site.

I played the last of us and I did not like it, that doesn't mean I would not give it a high score.

I think the reviews of other gaming sites make it pretty obvious that the 6/10 for quantum break on gamespot is not a professional score. Digital foundry technical analysis sums it up quite nicely, this is a original game in terms of gameplay and physics. The graphics do have its flaws but some aspects , like the characters, are extremely well done.

I hope not as 1m is not enough, it's going to need at least 3 million to have been a viable investment by MS. Remedy weren't too happy with the 3m that Alan Wake sold and they've stated they wanted this game to sell to a wider audience, dev costs are up this gen and i can see the live action portion of the game having been pricey too.

It's a bit shitty to speculate before the game releases but i could see things going south for Remedy with this as neither MS and Sony seem to want to fund the second tier size games any more e.g. Lionhead and Evolution. Remedy might be somewhat more insulated as they're third party but apparently Ryse almost gave Crytek some financial trouble. It's a shame too as Remedy are one of MS' few devs that actually attempt original IP.

In terms of the Xbox, they don't seem to have a killer peripheral like Kinect to boost sales this time and literally all of the biggest franchises thus far have fallen in quality, they can't rely on the Halo, Gears, Forza trifecta especially with Forza going to PC and Gears having lost Epic.

Sony doesn't really have anything to brag about this gen. Both consoles and their exclusives are incredibly underwhelming. Snail beats slug in a race.

What a short generation this was.

It seems our tastes are just too different. I dont see the PS4 lineup as sucking and that Sony is not trying hard enough when they had 4 conferences with 10+ exclusives announced (With some of them being highly sought for years) last year alone.

If Uncharted 4 gets a 8 or lower it's a flop on SW. Everyone expect that game to get a 9 or better without question.

I played all three of those games and I wasn't really thinking about them when I saw df's analysis,

maybe because quantum break takes the time based shooter to a whole other level.

In that sense it is original, digital foundry is spot on with their analysis.

As far as sales are concerned this gen yeah, the xbone i getting trounced nearly 2-1 but when it comes to high quality exclusives it;ts only 2 behind the Ps4.

Both consoles are Shit when it comes to exclusive games and this generation has been generally shit as far as exclusive are concerned unless you count the Wii-U which is killing both the Xbone and the Ps4 when it comes to high scoring quality exclusives.
