Today, the South Korea GRB (Game Rating Board) apparently approved Crysis for the Xbox 360. Crysis has not been released on the Xbox 360. It's a Windows-only title.

According to the Korea GRB, the game will be published by EA Korea. The rating page, which also went live today, specifically states the game is Crysis. Crysis 2 was already released in South Korea earlier this year. Does this all mean the Xbox 360 is getting a Crysis port?

South Korean game site Inven apparently contacted EA Korea, who supposedly confirmed the Xbox 360 version of Crysis, adding that the release date was TBA.

Doubt it, didn't that game have like ridiculous reqs for low or whatever?

But if true then I'm guessing Crysis 2 sold the best on 360.

I think it would be pretty sweet. There isn't anything in Crysis 1 gameplay wise that can't be done with a controller. Hell the default game nativly supports and Xbox 360 controller.

The graphics wouldn't be nearly as good, but it would be intresting to see if they could do a port of Crysis 1 with the CryEngine 3 and get it to run on the consoles.

Lol! Yeah right. how are they going to cram a whole island into the consoles?

They couldn't do it with Crysis 2 and those crappy textures, bad lighting, terrible AI, and runnign at low resolution.

They would have to make Crysis 1 look even CRAPPIER to fit it in.

Lol.

That's the point. It can't look as good.

The areas in Crysis 2 were dumbed down because of consoles. Crysis 1 areas where huge chunks of island with tree, foilage, rocks, and buildings as far as the eye can see.

To do that on a console will take dumbing down the graphics considerably, and possibly robbing the already poor AI out of even more CPU cycles.

This. Also with all the latest rumors and so called exclusives going to other platforms I think we will be seeing less and less of "exclusives" in the near future.

The more I think about it, the less likely I believe this to be true.

Aside from the technicla issues, which would mean Crysis 1 would be terribly dumbed down, there is the feasability of the project.

Isn't Crytek working on a kinect game, and at least 1 other project right now? On top fo all that they are going to take dev time to port an entire game over to the consoles?

AND they never bothered to mention it on the biggest console video game conference (E3)?

It's pretty much every year we hear about a Crysis 1 console port rumour. They have been going on since before Crysis 1 was even launched. Official Xbox sites felt the need to list it as a 360 title, despite having no official confirmation from Crytek...

It's a years old rumour and the response is just as old and valid as it was back then, not enough memory. If anything, Crysis 2 confirmed the arguments I was making in 2007 about consoles memory limitations making a direct port impossible. Crysis 2 screamed memory limitations, consoles cannot support Crysis 1's maps. But trying to get that across to some of the console crowd has been a chore, even years later, many of them are still convinced the magical powers of optimization can make console memory act like four times the amount...

This game will most likely run terrible on a console and the sales for Crysis 2 were underwhelming I'm not quite sure of the decision to port Crysis over

What I said in 2007 is still valid now.

A direct port of Crysis is impossible. A console port would have to be converted into a cell streaming memory management model, which would dramaticly shrink the scale of the game play experience; to whatever will fit in consoles memory. Changing the core game from its original experience, despite any efforts made to maintain a similar visual experience.

This point is usually followed with people questioning the value of anything consoles cannot do, usually until consoles can do it; and it suddenly matters. Whether or not you think large scale environments are of any value, it is a intended part of the Crysis 1 experience, as reinforced by the head of Crytek himself.

Consoles cannot duplicate what Crysis 1 did on PC, and I'm not just referring to visuals. Usually the desire to see Crysis 1 on consoles in SW is meant as a jab at the PC crowd; rather than a genuine desire. People want to believe consoles can do anything a modern PC can, and they don't care about the details; so long as they can see a game called Crysis 1 on 360/PS3.

This is interesting if this is really true because I'd be curious to know what Cryengine 3 could do in its attempt to bump up the graphics to aproach PC standard. Yes we know Crysis back in '07 was simply a sight to see and consoles will probably never reach that standard but like I said this would be interesting to see how Crysis 1 would fair today on consoles with Cryengine 3 :)

lol wat.

Not only is this a 4 year old game, but the game will look and run like ass on the 360. Not to metion that using a controller is rubbish for Crysis...I tried with my windows 360 controller and couldn't last 5 minutes.

I have my doubts as well but it sure would be fun to see them try. They're going to have to cut back a lot. For example it's inevitable that the textures most notably the ones in the environment would have to be scaled back big time unless Cryengine 3 has secret magic :P

Fair enough. There is nothing wrong with wanting to play a game on your platform of choice, it's just with this being SW; some people try to use everything as ammo in debate. Having to explain the the same thing over and over again since 2007, only to have it disregarded on the grounds of "magic optimization powers will make it work" can also be irritating.

It's not like a console port of it can hurt the original, the Crysis series has already been made console orientated.

It´s not possible to emule the game on high settings but it´s probably possible on medium. Same happened to The Witcher 2 right?

...exaggerate much?

From Digital Foundry:

"Put simply, on certain stages, frame-rate varies rather drastically to the point where the game can feel almost unplayable.Thankfully these areas don't account for the majority of the gameplay by any stretch of the imagination"

PAL360

It's not about graphical settings. It's about the core components of an entire game level being stored in memory simultaneously, rather than cutting it up into chunks; and streaming those chunks depending on the players location.

Consoles are built for streaming, they don't have the memory to store large amounts of information at once like PC can.

don't think it's possible on just 522MB RAM.

PAL360

It´s not possible to emule the game on high settings but it´s probably possible on medium. Same happened to The Witcher 2 right?

I think crysis looks great on medium

dont believe its true but i was impressed with how good the 360 crysis 2 ran technically, for me its the best lookin game on the system, so maybe they could pull it off... don't know why they'd bother though tbh

You were impressed by a game that routinely dropped to 15 fps?

...exaggerate much?

From Digital Foundry:

"Put simply, on certain stages, frame-rate varies rather drastically to the point where the game can feel almost unplayable.Thankfully these areas don't account for the majority of the gameplay by any stretch of the imagination"

"a variable 15-20FPS update in an intense fire-fight is hugely disorientating, and this makes Crysis 2 one of the most inconsistent performers released in recent times." Crysis 2 must have fewer fight scenes than i remember :[

Wow, this is surprising, and seems rather unlikely to me, considering the speculative nature of the report. Of course it would be great if they could get it to run on the 360, though i suppose it'll be quite difficult to achieve similar levels of visuals as present in the pc version. Still, medium-ish would be great too.

its possible, but it would have to have much lower visual settings and less destructability etc.

i don't think the processors or gpu in the current consoles would be up to it.

but who knows with rumours of MS next console maybe being at the next e3 it could be for that.
