Just wondering what the weight of that thing is going to be? I'm not going to condemn it to I have seen more of it in action, it really doesn't make me want to pick it up and play with it.TimburyBased on what people said last year, it's fairly light. Really want to get my hands on one though.
Yeah casual games may support them, may. Do you think casuals will even be encouraged to buy Wii U yet though? Just to play games the same way they do on their Wii? The rest of us will buy it just because its new. Motion control in games like Wii Sports stole them this gen, I think it will be social apps running on the tablet that they hope will steal them this time. Not more waggle.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"][QUOTE="SuperFlakeman"]
a) 100m Wii's sold => 100/200/300m Wiimotes out there in the wild.
b) having the wiimotes in play is a great way to off-set the loss of not getting profits off of Wii U tablet sales, since those won't be sold separately.
c) Nintendo heavily depends on local MP; Wii Sports, Resort, MK Wii, NSMB Wii

You are out of touch with reality.
Well tbh it's software based, but I'm certain Nintendo has nailed it. Wii Pictionary = print moneys
For a moist slice of reality pie you should take a look at how popular tablets and social connectivity is becomming, then take another look at the controller. I could be wrong but I'm just putting two and two together. Trust me if a Wiimote isn't bundled it won't be taken anywhere near as seriously as Dual Analogue. Nintendo has become a here and now company and the Wiimote is on its deathbed.Interesting, this is making the wait for E3 even more exciting. I want to play it now! When I do get my hands on it, I will be sure to let you know what I think! I found the tablet very light and easy to hold last year, and the thing was not even that heavy, despite the big brick on the back that was tethering it to the wall. yoshi_64That's good to hear about the weight just look at the WiiU controller and think about holding my iPad up for extended periods.

but what i want from nintendo is good online support and proper hardware for proper graphics.
i dont see at least one of those happening :(

Most Nintendo games will be tablet based ofc.
I said your're out of touch with reality because you think it's all gonna be F-Zero, Metroid, Zelda, 3D Mario, StarFox and sht, nope, there will be a ton of focus on Mii stuff aswell for the expanded audience. Wii U sports, animal crossing mmo, wii pictionary, wii fit 2/vitality sensor, nsmb mii with "shtty graphics" and mii integration, etc.

I didn't say that's all its going to be, I just said its very unlikely you will see much support for the Wiimote if its an accessory IMO. Its on its way out otherwise we wouldn't have the tablet at all, but an improved Wiimote/Nunchuck combo instead and I'm glad they're not doing that.I didn't say that's all its going to be, I just said its very unlikely you will see much support for the Wiimote if its an accessory IMO. Wow you just don't get it man.
The only game leak we have so far is Rayman Legends, and that game requires Wiimotes for multiplayer, which is a huge deal for that game.

Aonuma is incharge of Zelda Wii U? Miyamoto said that he was handling Zelda Wii U personally.[QUOTE="SuperFlakeman"]

You should know that it was Miyamoto who championed for WM+ in the first place, while Aonuma was sceptical.

Cool, but you're going to need more than that to convince me :PConvice you of what, exactly? I haven't proposed anything outside of what I said. Those two alone solidifies that the Wiimote is very much in play, to what extent we don't know yet.
I have another one for you. They showed Wiimote gameplay in the very first Wii U reel, you need it to play golf in Wii U Sports.
We know multiple devs are happy with the system's hardware capabilities, and that Ghost Recon Online will be a release game.controller actually looks pretty good to me now.

I expect it to be used alot. You need Wiimotes for local MP and that's huge for games like Mario Party, NSMB Mii, Mario Kart Wii with its Wii Wheel, Smash Bros 4.
For the OMG HARDCORE FZERO STARFOX METROID NINTENDO IS BACK BABY = uPad. Core games that are SP focused will mainly use the uPad, unless it's Zelda where wm+ is a better fit. I think that's where your ignorance stems from, you only care about this part of the spectrum.
3rd party games will obviously only use the uPad because their games are SP or online MP, not local MP, and all they will do is port the PS3/360 experience which practically demands the dual analog setup.
As much as I like the Wii remote for certain games, I hope it isn't a "need". There are many games I can think of where I'd much rather have the ability to use at the very least two tablets for local multiplayer. You need Wiimotes for local MP SuperFlakeman

...what I want from Nintendo is... proper hardware for proper graphics...
taterfrickintot
This is the mindset I have a problem with in gamers, "proper graphics"? How about good hardware for more freedom to create? Imagine what Nintendo could do to their action/adventure games, like Metroid and Zelda, with enough power. Imagine what new tricks and physics Mario could deal with-- but nope, graphics.
The analog stick doesn't have the octagon gate around it this time. This basically makes the Wii U controller analog sticks the first 'true' analog sticks Nintendo has ever had, with full 360 degrees movement, and L3/R3 functionality.charizard1605Nintendo copying Sony. Finally took them long enough to admit that Sony was right with their true 360 degree analog sticks and clickable ones.

thats ok..we actually invented the analog stick...sony liked it so much they put 2 on their controllers.
That's the best Nintendo could do given the entire year? They're nearly identical! The revised one looks bigger and bulkier as well and still fail to address the cheap lousy single touch resistive screen that requires the controller to be held with one hand and stylus with the other. It's was miserable enough playing kid icarus on the 3ds, just imagine how much more miserable it's gonna be with the 3ds replaced by a giant bulky controller. runbleduckWow you talk like the Wii U controller was a bad thing when it first came out. The truth is that almost all analysts loved the controller and most people accept the resistive touch screen as a way to keep the costs down. Since the games will still be mainly on the TV screen and will be supplemented by the touch screen I think it is the right call. So no, the Wii U is similar but not completely similar to the DS in that way. I agree that it seems strange that it apparantly got a little bigger than it was before but it doesn't look that much different. The WiiU controller will always be bulky, which is PREFERABLE because that's what allows the innovative touch screen to exist, and besides everyone who's tried it says that the bulk is hardly noticable.

It looks about an inch wider and then from top to bottom it looks smaller.
Is it seriously going to be that large? I don't know about this....
Too bad they don't do the same thing with the 3DS, it needs better controls my God. The thing is unplayable.

Nah sorry, its resistive. Its for the low costs, sorry.I swear that touch screen BETTER be capacitive and smooth as butter like the iPad. It's 2012, there is no excuse for it to be using a resistive touch screen. Especially on a screen that big, it will be a nightmare.

Rumor: Employee Responsible for Leaking Wii U Controller Photo Fired, May Face Litigation
Nintendo doesn't mess around when people leak stuff they'd rather save for E3. According to Erlend Wollan, a system development consultant for several platforms, the employee who posted up the photo of his dev kit Wii U controller has been fired and may face a suit in court. Some secrets are best kept to yourself, especially in a business that takes information leakage very seriously!
"Dev at Traveller's Tales who leaked updated WiiU controller (now with sticks!) already fired and may be taken to court. Respect NDA's folks."
