It just looks like Demon's/Dark Souls combat without the RPG elements. Whats the point? Looks boring. Its visually impressive though
[QUOTE="Mr-Kutaragi"]Sony would have never greenlit this low quality. We give Demon Souls and God of war, MS gives Ryse. god of war show how to do combat right, this look likes poor copy.blackaceRight, They greenlit Haze, Lair, GT5 (which wasn't even complete), Sorcery, PS All-Star Battle Royale, LBP Karting, Yakuza: Dead Souls and a lot of other crapping games. Sony is far from perfect. No one is excepting Ryse to be a "AAAE" game, but I still expect it will be good and fun nontheless.
All of the above of which are at least competent aside from Haze and Lair and out of those only Lair was greenlit (as opposed to approved) by Sony. Lair notably had an awesome concept that has rarely been done and a developer with a great track record in the same genre, but failed to live up to expectations in good part just due to unresponsive controls. Panzer Dragoon and Drakengard showed how enjoyable it could be to pilot a dragon, so the idea was exciting to people.
Ryse is more played out as a concept and Crytek as far as I'm aware hasn't done any work within the hack and slash genre prior to this, so why would you compare the two?
The game is linear. You still have to go from point A to point B, but the combat is open.
The animations are implemented poorly even current gen games like The Last Of Us has way better animations.
Still holding out judgement, but that looks quite a bit more promising than the E3 demo.clone01agreed, I was like ok wont be getting this, then I saw this... now im gonna have to get it. If it scores AAE ill be happy, looks like it definitely has nice graphix...
Not linear my ass. That areas probably one of the biggest in the game. It wasn't even really that big. Still.. hope it turns out better than what weve seen so far.

To be fair Naughty Dog makes just about everyone else look bad when it comes to animations.

Where the hell did you get this from?Don't even dare to put DeS and DaS in the same sentence with f-cking Ryse.It is a blasphemy.
The combat looks bland.
He says the aim was to make execution type moves more interactive, and address the loss of control associated with them, but I don't understand how this is accomplishing that. You're hitting a button when the prompt appears over a dude's head, and then control is taken away as the execution animation plays out regardless of anything, but if you want to you can complete this QTE to gain more points/health/whatever. He says it's not a QTE, but beyond there not being a fail state it plays out exactly like one. Being given the choice to not interact does not add interactivity.
If these executions happen with frequency you could start getting annoyed by them due to the loss of control, so I get why that's something they're looking at. Hopefully they'll figure it out. Like, don't make the player lose control of his actions. Make these execution moves actually interactive.
100 execution animations huh, guess that's not gonna happen then. They've gone all in with this system.
He said "master the game" when all you do is spam X to attack with same animation and QTE triggers even if you don't  "MASTER THE GAME" lol this guy..............
Why would you need to press an additional button to complete an action you've already initiated? That makes no sense under most forms of conventional game design. Yeah you already get the kill if you do nothing, but if you press 'X', for instance, you get a 'Fatality' style move and a bonus. I know it's really not comparable to MK Fatalities, but it makes me think of it like that. You can take them out, or you have the option to take 'em out in style and get achievements out of it as well. I don't really see it taking anything away from the game.[QUOTE="R4gn4r0k"]
Oh so its not a QTE because you don't even have to push the button for the action to complete...

I'm talking about the blocking/parry mechanics. They do have similarities, though Demon's/Dark do it better
Praise Jebus Combat still looks abit clunky.Jack-BurtonYou know what game also looks clunky? Demon Souls and Dark Souls. And those games both had awesome gameplay.

They do everything better.wow, this is probably the worst exclusive for the xbone. "I dont have to execute anything" lol so QTEs happen for you as previously stated.campzor
but but...mastering the game!
This game is Too Human. LOXO7
I agree, both games have great concepts but the way they are executed are absulutly terrible
I guess this is the M$ answer to God of War.I wonder who would win in a fight between Kratos and generic roman dude.LOL
Ryse is visually very impressive but the gameplay just looks like crap. Sorry but it does.
Maybe they'll show more and I'll be more intrigued but for now, it looks like Xbox One's Lair.

I had so much fun playing Too Human. Just another game people LOVE to hate on.I liked the idea of an Diablo-like rpg on consoles. I also loved how it blended Norse mythology and sci-fi and the whole artistic direction of the game, however the game had big issues that fvcked everything up. First the level design was really terrible and repetitive. Second the games horribly unbalanced which is atleast for me the biggest issue. The game is ok when you are character is between level 1-30 or so but from level 31-50 for some stupid reason every enemy kills you in one single hit making it always unplayable and it feels like your character has become weaker instead of actually stronger and that exactly removes the reward thats comes with leveling up. And to make things worse the game was filled with glitches.
