Just to clarify, more advanced =/= more powerful. Apologies, if English isn't your mother tongue.

You are Torm are equally ridiculous. Its like you all are twins of being wrong and in denial.

You don't understand conditional statements with equal probability. Your "Most likely Yes" statement is too strong for Zen. I didn't outright telling you to tone down your "Most likely Yes".

The speculated GPU is smaller with RX-580 and 384bit bus. MS placed a larger GPU with 44 CU which will consume silicon space for any potential larger CPU.

Did they use Vega or Ryzen? No! Making you wrong.

No ZEN for you. You got half baked Jaguar with Zen uncore improvements.

  • X1X's GPU has 4MB secondary cache (2MB L2 cache +2MB render cache) like Vega 56/64's 4MB L2 cache which I prefer for 4K.
  • Polaris IP still has pack math not Vega's rapid pack math. Vega is still GCN.

@ronvalencia: This is getting more and more sad with every response but its hilarious how wrong you were and how hard you trying to twist it to the contrary. LOL.

Now your argument is "No Zen for you." LMAO. I run Zen on my PC.

Keep trying though.

PS5 ‘Definitively More Powerful’ Than Xbox Project Scarlett, According to Dev Kit Users

| **Jun 15, 2019.**

Earlier this week, a rumor surfaced that suggested the upcoming PlayStation 5 was more powerful than Microsoft’s recently unveiled next-gen Xbox console, codenamed Project Scarlett. It was enough to generate a lot of buzz around E3, even if the power of a console rarely correlates to its success. Now, an additional source claims that they have heard similar rumblings about the power of the PS5 compared to the next Xbox.

According to former IGN editor Colin Moriarty, the PS5 is definitively more powerful than Project Scarlett. Moriarty made the claim on his podcast, Sacred Symbols, while talking about the prior rumor from Game Informer’s Andrew Reiner.

But unlike Reiner, Moriarty elaborated a little further by saying that this information comes from developers working with both consoles’ dev kits. Apparently, when working with both, the developers found the PS5 to be more powerful.

Nice unsubstantiated rumor you got there brah. You also left out this important piece of information:

"Of course, dev kits and final consoles are not the same so it’s possible that this information and power comparison could change. It’s also worth mentioning that Moriarty is known for having a stronger relationship with the PlayStation brand than the Xbox brand and so his anecdotal evidence comes largely from PlayStation-focused sources."

lol that "importantinformation" I left out goes without saying for anyone with half a brain.

There is over a year's time between now and the release of the next gen systems and things could change, like DUH my guy! You needed someone to actually say that before you know this?

Also this report is CLEARLY only referring to the current builds for each next gen dev kit, Another DUH! LOL.

If I didn't report this "important information" people might actually think these development kits were from the future and not right now!! Thanks for the tip.

You seem rather upset by reports that developers are giving about the power of these systems with those silly objections. It's going to be okay!

lol yes, they seem to upset some people. I don't know why.

It's all funny to me because I already have neutral expectation out of all of this. Weaker or more powerful will make litter difference between multiplats on these two systems next gen outside of ground up exclusives.

Well, my expectation between the power of these two systems is. It really doesn't matter.

The jump from this gen to next gen will be huge and as long as they're both powerful. I think lockheart got waxed due to developer push back.

So even if the new base line for development of next gen starts at the "weaker" systems capabilities, is going to produce virtually indistinguishable real world performance compared to the "more powerful" console due to diminishing returns.

They're both going to be blistering 4k 60fps high end graphics. The minimal difference between 1 or even 2 TF of power or a slightly more advanced shader ect isn't going to be enough to show a noticeable difference in multiplat development.

With PS5 and Scarlet both being in the ball park of 10TF only specified development will make one unit shine over the other.

At the same clock speed, 5700 has more than doubled the ROPS and TMU resources when compared to X1X

32 ROPS --> 64 ROPS. Similar to Vega 56/65 and Vega II. Advanced from X1X

32 bit bilinear filtering (TMU) --> 64 bit bilinear filtering (TMU). Advanced from Vega II. NAVI 40 CU is equivalent to 80 CU GCN on bilinear texture filtering.

Move towards unified 4MB L2 cache from X1X's split 2MB L2 cache and 2MB render cache. Advanced from X1X. Similar to Vega 56/64 and Vega II

5700 has twice L2 cache storage over PS4 Pro. Advanced from PS4 Pro.

5700's ROPS can access 4MB unified L2 cache, PS4 Pro's ROPS are old school GCN. Advanced from PS4 Pro with ROPS accessing multi-MB L2 like cache

5700 has DCC for the entire graphics pipeline which starts from geometry to the external memory end point. Advancedfrom Vega II/X1X/PS4 Pro since these GPUs has partial DCC graphics pipeline coverage.

5700's CU has wave32 format similar to CUDA. Both NAVI CU and Volta/Turing SM has 64 stream floating point processors and wave32 format. Vega II's wave64 format dumped. NAVI's wave32 has better fit with AMD's source code CUDA app translation software in the HPC/Cloud markets. NAVI has NVIDIA's Gameworks wave32 shader programs consideration. Advanced from Vega II/X1X/PS4 Pro

5700's CU has twice the branch hardware over GCN CU. NAVI 40 CU is equivalent to 80 CU GCN on branch hardware. Advanced from Vega II/X1X/PS4 Pro

5700 is similar to Turing GPU without split integer CUDA units, Tensor cores and RT cores.

Both NAVI and Volta/Turing has hardware Async compute command processors.

NAVI is AMD's 1st Volta/Turing clone GPU.

Increase graphics hardware is paired with SSD storage for larger artwork fetch scope.

NVIDIA is the road map for AMD's GPU just as Intel being AMD's road map for AMD CPUs.

AMD is back at cloning the other company's products i.e. might as well use the patent swap agreements with Intel and NVIDIA to the letter.

NAVI should have better Unreal Engine 4 result when compared to GCN.

I like want I'm seeing with NAVI's basic design.

Xbox One X GPU has 4 MB L2 like cache (2MB L2 cache + 2MB render cache) like Vega 56/64's 4 MB L2 cache. Polaris 10's cache design is dead!

Pure TFLOPS argument is almost meaningless when it's bottle-necked by external memory bandwidth and higher latency memory access hit rates.

NVIDIA Maxwell design has superior ROPS cache over Polaris ROPS.

Vega's inferior compression ratio when compared to Polaris!

Note that Vega is still GCN.

Try again.

In the end, I hope they have some great software to make it compelling to buy from the get go. I love my Xbox One S, but I joined late and only because I got it at firesale prices. Have a great lineup of must play exclusives and I’ll jump on board earlier.

MS has stated that Devs are still waiting on Scarlett dev kits so any rumor based on a comparison of dev kits is a false rumor. During E3 MS and AMD have stated that Scarlett will be based on a newer architecture than PS5.

"The result is that the next PlayStation will feature custom 7 nm AMD Ryzen Zen 2 and Radeon Navi architectures, while the Xbox Scarlett will include "next generation Radeon RDNA gaming graphics architecture" as announced by Lisa Su, CEO and President of AMD. AMD has confirmed that next-generation RDNA will be based on a 7 nm+ FinFET process, which will support hardware-based real-time ray-tracing and next-gen RDNA. By contrast, the 7 nm Navi architecture will only be capable of shader-based ray tracing and current gen RDNA."

Scarlett more advanced than PS5

Colin Moriarty's article is bull who is known to have a Sony Bias then the only developer mentioned only makes games for Sony's platform. Let me know when Ubisoft or EA are making comments not Sony partner studios.

The Yakuza dev doesn't know what an Xbox dev kit is like and he makes games exclusively for the PlayStation.

At the same 1172 Mhz clock speed comparison with X1X 40 CU vs NAVI 10 XT 40 CU

  • ROPS bound workloads, NAVI 10 XT is 2X ROPS read/write capability i.e. 32 ROPS ---> 64 ROPS. 2X increase.
  • ROPS's tile render storage increase from 2MB render cache to shared 4MB L2 cache. 2X increase.
  • TMU's tile compute storage increase from 2MB L2 cache to shared 4MB L2 cache. 2X increase.
  • Texture filtering workloads, NAVI 10 XT is 2X Texture Filtering capability HW i.e. 32 bit texture filter ---> 64 bit texture filter HW. 2X increase.
  • Shader branch workloads, NAVI 10 XT is 2X increase.
  • Instruction queue is 2X increase.
  • Wave compute latency reduce from 4 clock cycles to 1 clock cycle.
  • Shared 4MB L2 cache eliminated copy latency between 2MB render cache and 2MB L2 cache for micro-tile cache render workloads.

Classic raster GPU hardware has 2X increase. It's about time AMD improve the classic GPU hardware instead of adding compute.

Reminder, this is a gaming GPU not a DSP compute with small GPU hardware.

I don't care, I've already set the goal posts.

I want Game Pass, and I'm getting Xbox Scarlett for it cause even though PCMR, I'm keeping Ultimate Pass, and anything on that service, I'll NEVER buy on a PS5, nor will I buy a EA Game on PS5 cause I'll get it on Origin Access and now uPlay getting its own PC Service, so literally nothing left on PS5 except maybe random Japanese games that PC will get anyways, and in the extremely rare cases, I can get on Switch, that is filling up with exclusives way faster than PS4.

Although I'm not sold on PS5, I really like PS Now, and hope that it becomes better, cause I love PS2 games, and liking PS3 games as well, and digging the download option. $5 a month is a steal right now.

:) I do and "I" won't be disappointed, lol at least not with my expectations of PS5. You, however, may be disappointed with whatever you decide to go with.

PS5 literally can't do worse than PS4 which has the most impressive looking games this generation minus the native 4k and 60fps bullet points.

The PS5 will be a minimum of 5x increase in power over base PS4 which all games this generation have been developed around so I'm not worried.

I can't be disappointed because I am grounded in reality. :)

BTW the 5X the power of the PS4 is just 2.2x the Pro and 1.5x the Xbox One X. :)

lol Pedro, Pro and X were never base systems for game development at any point during this generation. Their existance is no more relevant to this console generation than a PC's GTX1070 or 2080TI.

Bringing up mid gen systems when speaking of generational leaps is literally pointless if you understand this basic concept. I know it means a lot to you to include mid-gen systems in this equation because you chose to buy an Xbox One X thinking it had some effect on this generation but it really didn't.

Swap out the Xbox One X's enhancements over base PS4/XBO developed games with any PC GPU around GTX 1060 level or above and that's all that happened. Simple up scaling of base PS4/XBO developed games.

All games were and are still developed with PS4 as the base reference for this generation.

Next gen the base will be around 10TF. Again it's a 5x jump over current generation game development. Sorry if you're still confused about how game development and generations work after all this time.

Question: With Scarlett, can you talk a bit about the strategy of announcing a console so early? It reminds me a lot of Scorpio. Was there something about the experience with Scorpio that made you think, “This is how we should do it”?

Phil Spencer: I definitely think doing the announcement of Project Scorpio 18 months-ish before we launched X was good learning and background for us this year. I think that’s definitely true. I think that gave us some confidence that we could keep buzz. We also know that we’re going to have dev kits out, developers building games, and I’d rather not have to pretend that something is not happening when everybody knows it is happening.

"We also know that we’re going to have dev kits out" intent indicates Xbox Scarlet dev kit has not been shipped.

I'm glad to hear the Xbox Scarlett is going to be stronger than PS5!

lol, why?

There are "rumors" and "leaks" for PS5 too.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for xbox because I doubt it will amount to much.

Unless MS plan on releasing a $699 console you're not going to get much of real world difference if any at all in the multiplats that are so highly praised on the xbox platform.

Xbox One X GPU has 4 MB L2 like cache (2MB L2 cache + 2MB render cache) like Vega 56/64's 4 MB L2 cache. Polaris 10's cache design is dead!

Pure TFLOPS argument is almost meaningless when it's bottle-necked by external memory bandwidth and higher latency memory access hit rates.

NVIDIA Maxwell design has superior ROPS cache over Polaris ROPS.

Vega's inferior compression ratio when compared to Polaris!

Note that Vega is still GCN.

Try again.

I don't have to try shit idiot you didn't prove me wrong.

I quoted you hyping Vega as the xbox one X GPU,you were wrong not only on Vega and Ryzen but also on FP16..Hahahaa

While Vega is GCN that doesn't mean is the same GCN as Polaris and you know it,Vega has polaris improvements + other improvements as well. But it nice to see you spining your bullshit using GCN to try to imply you were right when you claimed Vega,is as stupid and moronic as your claim of one xbox one sold = another xbox 360 sold.

Now TRY again fool.

You are a HYPOCRITE the sources for this thread are MisterX media bad and has been confirmed and you say nothing about the article because it serve your best interest.

Colin Moriarty has more credibility that the sources in question in this thread, and i haven't see you complain also i already told you there are 2 sources not 1,as my thread was based on a journalist from gameinformer not from Colin Moriarty which is the second one.

Yakuza developer ass didn't claim the PS5 was stronger, and Sega which is the developer of Yakuza make xbox games ass,so yeah if developers have dev kits chances are high sega has them to.

Yakuza maybe be only on PS but other sega games are on xbox fool,Sega is not juts Yakuza buffoon, that little you know about this industry.

You are so desperate to win the argument that you are damage controlling something Sega never stated,as the Yakuza developer never claimed the PS5 was more powerful than Scarlet and you are already damage controlling it claiming they don't have dev kit because Yakuza is a PS game, ignoring that Sega is who make Yakuza and Sega has xbox games as well.

@saltslasher said:

So you still pretending to be a Hermit dynamitecop?

So basically you are not getting a PS5 because there is nothing on it that you would miss, but some how you are in on scarlet a totally redundant console with nothing exclusive.

Make sense..lol

With 1080 v 900p being the biggest and longest narrative this gen and the frenzy over ps5 leaks/ reveal coupled with the obvious huge deal for fanboys of who has most powerful console next Gen after anaconda revealed a little more.

XB1X would like to remind you that it wears the crown for da power for MS, and it won by not the tiny margin next gen will be decided by but by a landslide

So when your bigging power up for next gen don’t forget the ass whopping Xbox one x gave out

Yeah that is some horseshit lie..

See this video and how is been clearly stated by MS team that they have hundreds of people working in next gen experiences first party and 3rd party TODAY..

If they are working TODAY on those next gen experiences on what they are working if supposedly the dev kits are not out?

Hahahahaaaa........

You can't read between lines specially MS ones, remember MS didn't say they have the most powerful console ever built like they did with the xbox one X,so yeah going by your excuse of Sony need to CONFIRM HB RT then MS need to confirm they have the most powerful console or simply they don't have it.

LOL I see the old fart from the banana island having a meltdown in here too, dev kits normally are more powerful than the specs of the console because of the developers environment ( they have more ram and overclocked specs ) and remember that the new navi tech is suppose to have CU more powerful than the current ones.

You mean beside E3 2016 when the Pro wasn't even unveil yet.?

Beside ""delivering the world most powerful console"",the fastest frames highest resolution and no compromises?

How can you deliver the fastest frames and the highest resolution whithout having the most powerful console?

Oh did i forget and emphasis on TRUE 4k.?

But so that no doubt stand here.

We’re building a beast. It’s gonna be the most powerful console ever made, and as a guy who was here when we built the original Xbox, that being such a powerful box, and we pioneered with Xbox Live, and some of those innovative games, it really feels like we’re getting back to our roots.

There's was some very accurate leaks out before E3 2016 and Microsoft new they where releasing later.

Easy for them to claim more powerful. Not the case this time.

PC can have the best graphics, if you have an adequately powerful rig (which most don't). I know hermits love to claim that it's a hard rule, but it ain't :)

There are more adequately powerful rigs out there than the number of PSPRO or XB1X sold. Same with Rigs that can beat PS4 and XB1 and the sales of those systems. Same with PS3 and XB360. This is easily seen through video card unit sales.

The same will occur next gen with Scorpion and Scarlette. PC is always ahead in not just hardware but number of people using said hardware.

It's clear is who is paying AMD more is going to have the most powerful console. You can't base past success on future success.

Kudos for not spining my finding credit were is do.

Well the xbox one cost more to make than the PS4 even taking Kinect out of the equation and still was weaker with slower ram.

Not saying it will be the same but just saying.

You never know.

Going by leaks the PS5 is stronger but it just leaks.

The difference is the leaks actually came out with specific details about the PS4 Neo that where correct and not from a journalist baiting clicks. The likelihood of Microsoft having access to these specs at the same time are pretty high if someone can post them on the internet and the fact the PS4 Pro was releasing way earlier than the X gave them confidence at stating it was. This time round they dont know when the PS5 is coming out, no specs of any kind have come out, Microsoft have stated they haven't seen them and have said in interviews they are aiming for the most powerful console.

All we have is rumors and if you going to just take them all as accurate, there where plenty of rumors before E3 stating Scarlet was more powerful.

As I've said before if I was Sony I'd make PS5 more powerful and take the hit, but your reading into one specific thing Microsoft said (or more haven't said) and ignoring all context, which is just stupid.

It might end up with the PS5 being more Powerful, it wouldn't be mind-blowing. But the leaks looks like are coming from media that basically does Sony's work even if not being paid by them. In fact this E3 was rich with media people showing their inclinations.

Don't do that the xbox one leak came with ALL the damn details and most of you would not admit it,would call it rumors and some even claim there were other specs or that the spec would change, some even claim developers were under NDA and could not talk about it.

Don't do that if you are going to give validity to rumors do so universally.

NO there were non other than from blind fanboys.

So what context i am ignoring?

They stated clear most powerful console we created, and even sites notice it,in fact sites make a direct comparison with the xbox one X which MS could not stop hyping it as the most powerful console ever built.

If Scarlett is really 390-400mm2 die as rumored , it’s going to be a beast.

That would be 52-60 CU. 11-12.5 TF’s

That would outperform a GTX 1080 and it’s 11.3 TF
