correct me if i'm wrong but didnt' Resisance get a big flopping 8.6 if thats the one thing sony got right its over. Nugtoka
How about a console that lasts more then five months before you need to send it in to get it fixed or replaced?TheCrimsonKoopaUm sorry to burst your bubble but if you remember from last gen Sony had more DISC READ ERROR problems than Xbox and 360 combined. I have had my 360 since they launched and play hours upon hours and have never had a problem
Price?
Blue-ray?
Backward Compatability?
Games?
So far it seems like they totally missed the mark on a lot of things. I'm sure in about a year or so they will get in line but man that's a bad way to get thigns started.

Oh this is easy........................ they included a hard drive standard with their console.
the only thing the PS3 has gotten right is catching on fire, sucking up lint, spare change, dollar bills, and your dignity from your wallet, and having one good game to play on it the first three months and 20 less available new games to buy.
darth-pyschosis
that may be true for you but not for everyone; and for a $600 system, it's selling surprisingly well.
You wish Blue Ray was the next gen in video viewing.... I bet HD DVD will be around longer than Blue Ray besides why would you want to go out and Re-purchase your entire inventory of DVD's just so you can have them on Blue Ray when most of your tvs you have dont play 1080pDrkLrdofSthWhen did movie studios stop releasing movies ? You don't have to rebuy anything if you don't want to and the ps3 plays dvds anyway.

Price? It has the best value of all NextGen systems. No arguing that.
Blue-ray? Doesn't necessarily enhance a game, but lots of storage space is not a bad thing at all, especially when you consider the rise of HD sales in general.
Backward Compatability? There were some issues there, but they are now fixed. Unfortunately, the Europeans won't be getting this, but if it's going to save Sony some money, it's a smart move. I for one never used the BC on PS2...not once. I'm playing PS3 now because there is nothing left for me on PS2, except God of War 2. Gotta play that.
Games? Not so hot right now, but at least 1 great title (R:FOM) at launch was nice. We all know the games will be there.

Blu-Ray is smashing it in sales. Not to mention Blu-Ray drives are being put into to computers for serious storage space (25gb and 50gb discs). And you answered your own second question. Why would "I" want to go out and replace "my" DVD library? Because I do have a tv that supports HD resolutions. Just because some people don't have a HD tv doesn't mean I don't.
. . . . .besides why would you want to go out and Re-purchase your entire inventory of DVD's just so you can have them on Blu Ray. . . .DrkLrdofSth
You know they said the same thing when DVD was in it's infancy.

another thing sony did have all those disc read errors but you know i would rather have a 200$ console tear up then a 400$. and so fare no problems with ps3 over heating i think only one and that was cause it was turned on for like 5 days in a walmart case. but anyways sony isnt out of the war. actually sony could still win.dcm06Why would it matter if Microsoft replaces it for free.... you wouldnt be paying any extra? I could understand if you were arguing a convenience issue but your argument has no support logically

[QUOTE="DrkLrdofSth"]Still Sony still forces you to fork over the extra dough for a Blue Ray player when most people dont care to have one.ArmoredAshes
People can buy whatever they want , Sony is not forcing you to buy one. Is Microsoft forcing you to pay to play games online ?

i was trying to say is that sony made mistaked everyone does humans are in charge. microsoft makes mistakes just so many people go over board wit hthe sony messes. its stupid.
and you dont even need to tell me that im not smart cause i know im not but i stick up for my opinions and i stick up for sony.
you know when your 10 years old your family fighting all the time shoot your grandma dead cancer grandpa dies cause of shooting mom hits you for nothing cause she feels like it then you see this white controller in the floor and i felt joy at play the playstion it gave me hope somehow like i found a friend and im not giving that up.
never dont care what happens somehow the idea based around the playstation is my hope might sound lame to most of you people but i just couldnt tell you how much of a relief it was to skip my reality and just believe i was could in final fantasy 7 it just mad things feel right.

Sony sucks and alot of people are finally coming around to it.
How about "no 3 rings of death type of problems" or "no external but internal power brick" How about a "Blu-ray player" that will most probably be the standad next-gen movie video disk? User replaceble Hard drive? 97% backwards compatibility (sorry for the europeans, but software emulation may be even better after a while).kentaro22
Blue Ray will not become a standard until they allow Porn on the format. And replacing the hard drive voids the warranty. Two things that it has definitely done wrong.

blu ray is kicking hd dvd in sales cause ps3 has blu ray it could be called a blu ray player more ps3 sales more blu ray sales. and more people that buy ps3 more might be willing to buy a movie with it just to give it a shot. dcm06Again, its not like the PS3 has been flying off the shelves either.... lets see some sale numbers here to backup what you are saying

Hurt it more than anything. Ebay sellers, robbings, etc.
- The launch
Again, hurt the system, as it was not a supercomputer and did not blow the 360 away graphically like Sony claimed.
- Hype
Good game. Give you that.
- Resistance
Not out yet, but solidly AA by most reviews.
- Motorstorm
Good fighter, coming to 360 though and not really a "system seller".
- VF5
And PS2 BC, which Sony did well.
- Downloadable content and PS1 emulator
Again, a good thing for Sony.
- Free online play
Not as robust as the 360's PC linking,IMO, but far better than the Wii.
- Multimedia features
Not sure what you mean, but it is a solid machine so far.
- The actual hardware (eg, cooling system)
Best selling, maybe, but not the best. Home theater review sites have many others that top it in quality.
- Blu-ray movie playback (considered by many as the best BD player)
True
- Tried and true controller design
Does not make much difference from a gamin perspective. Makes development a bit trickier, but nothing really drastic here.
- HDD standard
Need I say more? That's more than what can be listed for the Wii or 360.

Wrong on both counts. Porn... That's what the internet is for, and eventually it will find the way to blu-ray if blu-ray wins (most probable) And exchanging the HD doesn't void the warranty. It's even on the manual!i was trying to say is that sony made mistaked everyone does humans are in charge. microsoft makes mistakes just so many people go over board wit hthe sony messes. its stupid.

What I would say to you is that it is good you found something to make life better, but Sony really had nothing to do with that. If anything, you should defend Square/Enix for making FF VII. Sony, MS, and Nintendo all make products that can take you to other worlds and entertain you. You should look at each and see their strengths and weaknesses and decide on a case by case basis what system best suits your needs.
Don't just follow one brand on name or memories alone. Sometimes companies lose sight of what is important, and that is the consumer. Instead of dictating what consumers should want, the companies should listen to what you actually want, and cater to that to earn your sales.
