also why is Crysis 2 on consoles more blury than KZ2 yet xbox360 fanboys and 360 fakeboys pretending to be hermetsare all over in Crysis 2 talking about how good it looks...the console versions that is?
Crysis 2 console...
Killzone 2 PS3
Chutebox
that Killzone 2 gif is actually from the 2007 pre-alpha build, which was before they spent a few years rebuilding the engine and re-doing a lot of the graphics
Killzone 2 definitely looks pretty decent in motion, mostly thanks to effects, but if people want to talk about graphics technology then you'd expect them to know better than to say Killzone 2 didn't take a lot of cheap ways out in order to achieve what it does (like exclusively using pre-baked lighting), or to diminish how capable Cryengine is... kinda failing graphics 101 if you ask me
Decent?! What is with this SW love for undervaluing KZ2's graphics!
The game is freaking astonishing. (I know, opinions, opinions blah blah blah!)
Also, were you saying KZ2 doesn't look as good as that gif?
well i played the campaign about 3 times, and played the online quite a bit (69 hours according to killzone.com)
overall the game looks like you took an average looking console fps, take something like Call of Duty: World at War
then plastered a ton of screen effects like motion blur, depth of field, sparks, blood splatter, film grain, etc.
it's a worthy effort, but it lacks any sharpness, and after awhile you kinda start seeing through the effects which makes the game look worse
imo the sound design is more impressive after you spend a lot of time playing the game than the graphics, i've played a lot of MP where you stop caring about the graphics and if anything they simply get in the way, but you rarely ever stop enjoying the sound (although i never cared for the campaign's musical score)
