[QUOTE="luis1972"][QUOTE="stylesPS3"] uncompressed files dont need to be loaded thats the whole benefit, or dont u think they would compress them, like holy ****. they are read straight, only 360 needs to do this.stylesPS3
Um, what? All files, compressed or uncompressed, must be loaded into RAM in order for it to be seen or heard. If you have an uncompressed wave file on your hard drive, does it just play itself automatically? LOL! Dude? Do you know anything about anything?

wow. just wow. optical. disk. look it up. more specifically look up optical.

Here, youre gonna need this

Jeebus! You're not shy about showing your ignorance, are ya? Are you really under the impression that files on an optical disc go straight from the disc to your TV? Wha? Let me enlighten you to the computing process... files (optical disc or HDD) ---> RAM ---> game engine (for in-game inputs and outputs) or video codec (for cutscenes) or sound engine (for sound files) ---> TV. In any event, all files in an optical disc, whether they be compressed or uncompressed, must be processed through software and hardware and in each step, those files must be "loaded." Information don't go directly from the disc to your TV. LMAO!

the point was all optical disks read basically the same way, the difference is bluray ALREADY HAS THEM DECOMPRESSED so it skips that step. what is so hard to understand about this. are you guys really going to argue that compressed files are an advantage? guess what then the devs could easily compress them and it would save them even MORE space, why wouldnt they do this. how bout we use some common sense shall we?

360 games use compressed data and every time a game needs to load, the data needs to be decompressed either with RAM or in the HD. Bluray's space is utilized for decompressed data and this simple fact is why you will notice ps3 games have shorter loading times then 360.

ahahahahahhah ram decompress data waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha thats all i have to say really

ram is memory, thats where it is stored temporarily. the decompressed files dont float in the air.

Not true, The 360 load times are usualy half of what they are on the PS3. Dosent matter anyways i dont mind waiting a few more seconds.djsifer01
dont mix up start up screen with ingame or memory loads.

i would rather have to wait a few extra seconds at startup but have a faster in game experience.

LOL! I missed that gem. I didn't realize compressed files must be uncompressed first before it can be used! LOL! I should tell my iPod to stop playing all my mp3 files since they're compressed afterall.

well you do eventually at some poitn have to uncompress stuff, but not in ram, and with ps3 and 360 having almost identicle ram they compression vs uncrompressed ratio inside probably won't be all that different, but ram is just liek a cd except its a volitle storage medium thats faster, you coudl run a OS from a cd if you caould make that cd read/write at a reasonable speed, and i don't mean like the linux live discs they load things into memor, i mean if you had no ram and a cd drive capable of reading and writing a cd like ram. You need a processor to compress/uncompress stuff.

I realize ram is storage which is why i'm laughing at his claim that ram decompresses data, it doesn't... you need a processor for that.

maybe you misunderstood but i meant that it has to use ram with the decompression process, while the ps3 has it already decompressed on disk.

So what mulitplat games have faster loading "in game" on the PS3 then?

And could it be that the 360 version could load faster when installed to the HDD?

Also you have to take into account the partial install of some PS3 games.

What is fair? Partially installed PS3 game vs completely installed 360 game, partially installed PS3 game vs uninstalled 360 game, non partially installed PS3 game vs uninstalled 360 game? Or what?

but the ps3 woudl be better off with compressed files since there won't be as much to read, lets say 360 reads something thats compressed and takes 10s, the ps3 would read that in 15s but because its uncompressed theres more so we are now up to 20s, if its compressed in ram its not going to be decompressed there, that would make lots of swapping and end up with holes in memory because it unloaded the compressed data after. It would just be uncompressed on the fly so it is still shorter to load on the 360. And not everything is compressed, probably just sounds and textures which are uncompressed once they hit the gfx or sound card, not in memory/

the 360 finishes first... the guy is playing a game on the 360 before the ps3 finishes... how does this prove YOUR point about the ps3 being faster.
