Everything you said there is actually in the game. I don't remember any diamonds but that does indeed sound like one of the quests. Oh really, a simple quest can be done in hundreds of ways? You can influence NPC's ? I don't think so.[QUOTE="Mozelleple112"][QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] GeneralShowzer
Of course you can influence PC's, it's called the Bribe button :P and technically a simple quest can be done in many ways, that's a very general statement, and he never said simple quests; he just said quests in general. Though I do agree that "hundreds" is a bit stretching it.
[QUOTE="FoolwithaLancer"]RPG of the year confirmed???? A man like me can only hope. :Ptrollop_scat
Nah that honor will go to Dark Souls
Dark Souls is hardly an RPG. It's more of an action-adventure, just like Mass Effect 3 is more of a TPS. You'll notice that out of the three, Skyrim is the only one listed as purely "Role Playing" under genre on Gamespot.[QUOTE="XVision84"]

The more I hear about Skyrim the more hyped I get! Animal companions, Fast travel costs money, hand to hand is improved, more realistic thievery, bards, more lively NPC's, NPC's can become partner's, hand crafted dungeons and loot, Skyrim is fixing a lot of problems that plagued Oblivion, and then some. I'm looking forward to playing Skyrim...WITHOUT MODS, and yes, it's playable without mods ;)
XVision84
Eh, i suggest you believe nothing until you play the game, Oblivion recieved massive hype and tons of info. from the developers before release, yet they were bashed because almost half of what they promised never came true. (that's one of the many reasons why Oblivion is hated)
Really? I never knew Bethesda were like Molyneux :? I hope this doesn't happen with Skyrim :( thanks for the heads up though.
Not to crush your hopes for Skyrim, but yeah they did make some promises they didn't keep at all... :P
[QUOTE="lawlessx"]Anything not Brotherhood / Thieves related was weaksauce. I remember when I first played it. I pick the brotherhood/ theifs guild first and was having a blast. The rest of the game was dull compared to that, with the expection of a few quests. (like the painting one)Most of the quests in oblivion can only be done one way.

Does this translate to celebrity actors for this game? That's what it sounds like to me, which I wouldn't know how to respond other than I WANT LIAM NIELSON RIGHT NOW. No, no sorry for the confusion. Games.Net: considering the fact that Oblivion is making such an immersive, living, breathing world, can we expect full surround sound features? Will we hear brooks babble and trees rustle? Will there be music in-game, or are you striving for the most natural experience? We also know that Patrick Steward (Captain Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation is starring. Are you folks ready to announce any other voice actors for Oblivion?
Todd Howard: Yes and yes. Full 5.1 surround, dynamic score, the works. I saw some crazy stat for the number of Xbox users with 5.1 setups and it was staggering, so we plan on fully using it. As far as voices, yes, there are more well-known and brilliant people in the game, and they'll be announced later. We were able to get our "dream-team" of actors for this.

"Honestly, and this is just my opinion, I think the hardcore RPG guys are going to love what we have in store for them in Oblivion. The depth, the level of polish...it crushes Morrowind. That doesn't mean that other people won't want to buy it and play it because it's a beautiful game that has fun combat and cool quests. We'll make enough copies for everyone."
"You'll be reading LOTS of stuff. All of the quest lines are much more in depth, challenging and interesting. And there's a heck of a lot more to the game than just the guilds and the main quest. Lots and lots of other things to do that haven't been mentioned. Stats play a huge, huge role. Class actually has meaning this time. The game is better balanced. You have more rewards for advancement besides just getting better at things. The dungeons are better designed, the NPCs are more interesting, the dialogue is better written."
"The compass, the quest marker and compass icons, are NOT the hand-holding, dumbing down babysitter some folks paint them out to be."
You can find everything they hyped here.

They don't care if it's purely RPG. ME2 won last year and it's listed as Action RPG just like TW2, Dark Souls, and others. Oddly enough DA2 is listed as "Computer...RPG."

The most interesting one for is how fast travel costs money. It is a nice concept but it needed something to offset the convenience.

I also wish they would've kept the Stilt Striders. My jaw dropped when I first saw those giant beings, I'd love to tame one and keep it as a pet
those things were amazing. one of the coolest things ive seen in a game, for sure."If everything was leveled then you'd have no fear of anything in the game ('I can beat everything!') We plan on scaring the heck out of the player by higher level creatures." - Oh that's a good one!! Oh god i wee'd a little. :( Thats great info, nice link!

No problem, man.
I funny as hell to read, but that doesn't change my hype for Skyrim at all. I love norse mythology, and i'm going to love playing trough this game.
Then after that, add a hella load of mods to play it forever.
I like the animal companion part. Makes me really want to play a wood elf/hermit wizard type character who wanders the woods with a pet wolf. :D
Bards will be appearing in the game!?:o
Please tell me they are more Leliana from Dragon Age and less...bards from Assassins Creed II.:P

Hollow promises make for a hollow game. That's Oblivion in a nutshell.Bethesda must be doing something right even if you haters still won't shut up about their games.Nice information.
Let's just hope the writing isn't as horrible as Bethesda's last outings and the central plot (and so many overarching things) aren't dumb as bricks and pandering to simpleton syndrome.

This wasn't the usual PR stunts this was straight up lies.I hope the lock picking mini game is as good as the one in Thief.
Since that is the only game I played with Lock Picking and I liked how they did it.

This. Especially with the Elder Scrolls games; shopkeepers usually sell stuff that's much worse than what you can gain from loot. At level 21 in Oblivion, I find daedric claymores and armor, but shopkeepers are still stuck with selling dwarven (not even glass) armor, and the enchanted stuff they sell in Oblivion is pretty bad. I hope they make stores a little less useless when it comes to weapons and armor.

Gibsonsg527
I prefer it that way, and you can't fast travel to places you haven't been to yet. This forces people to explore and take in the environment, which is a big part of the Elder Scrolls games. That feature was much better in Morrowind because the world was a lot more interesting than Oblivion (which had a pretty bland environment). Cyrodiil didn't have enough environmental variety and dungeons were all the same, thankfully that's all fixed in Skyrim so I look forward to exploring that continent.

Same, I always have a ton of money left. Indeed. In the later game when fast traveling actually becomes something worth doing since you've explored all the area you would be going through most people have so much money it's almost useless. It's not going to be anything insane in price either I would bet. Probably around 80 or so gold for a trip across the entire province like it was in Morrowind.No. GAME OF THE YEAR CONFIRMED!!!![QUOTE="Mozelleple112"][QUOTE="FoolwithaLancer"]RPG of the year confirmed???? When I wanted to just get to my next objective quick I did just that. There is no doubt that I will explore Skyrim for several hours without using fast travel. I'm level 20, 60% through Oblivion, and have almost 30,000 coins. Getting money isn't hard in Elder Scrolls games, especially when you can work jobs in towns for money in Skyrim. It's just personal preference, but I prefer fast travel because it's also a lot more realistic since you have to think about routes to places, and stock up on items before travelling. It makes for a much better roleplay experience IMO.
