Skyrim because I yet can't see the big deal with Dark Souls... I've watched some gameplay videos from E3 and I coudn't see nothing special about it... at the same time all I hear is good things about this game, so I'm keeping one eye on it and hoping they release a demo so I can play it and feel how it plays.
[QUOTE="caughtjoo"]Dark Souls if it was on PC. Since it is not, Skyrim.Postal_Guy
pretty much this
Interestingly enough, Dark Souls will be a better game most likely. Do you guys not have consoles or just against getting a console game? I'm a PC gamer at heart by far, but I know Dark Souls is going to kick Skyrim's butt. At least, according to the previous games: Demon's Souls and Oblivion.[QUOTE="Postal_Guy"][QUOTE="caughtjoo"]Dark Souls if it was on PC. Since it is not, Skyrim.DragonfireXZ95

In your opinion. nothing shows this as fact, if anything Skyrim will have a higher metacritic and gamerankings score than Dark Souls, like the past games of each.
Oblivion outscores DS at mc,gr,gs.
[QUOTE="TheMoreYouOwn"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] Or the whole, "It's a console game" thing. :PDarkLink77
Well...console gamers win this round. They get to play both. :)
That is true. Though I admit, the thought of playing TES without mods scares the bejesus out of me. :P why's that.In your opinion. nothing shows this as fact, if anything Skyrim will have a higher metacritic and gamerankings score than Dark Souls, like the past games of each.

As a PC gamer I respect, I didn't think you would resort to just using Metacritic and Gamerakings as a be all, end all. ;)
Dark Souls will be quite different though, it isn't hub and locations, it is more like Zelda with just going everywhere at once.

I can't believe you're using metacritic or any review scores at all for that matter to compare those 2 games.
That deserves a face palm.

For me I see no point in purchasing a console this late in the generation. A blue-ray player does me no good because I am not a movie buff, and I have no interest in playing Black Ops with some old college buddies on live. Mostly though, its the time we are in the generation. If the next playstation/xbox are bc, I will likely pick it up then.[QUOTE="Jankarcop"]

As opposed to your opinion alone being the hard fact?
I've played oblivion, fo3, and demon souls. I think demon souls was the worst of the 3 and I completely disagree with your original claim.

Have you played both games in detail? Put more than 5 hours into Demon's Souls? And how long was that? And why?I've played it enough to realize why it didn't get higher than oblivion or fo3 at gr or mc.

I think Skyrim will be far superior, as were Oblivion and FO3.

You still never said why... I'm just asking you why. Also, User score for Demon's Souls is higher than Oblivion. Fancy that.DragonfireXZ95too many user give games 1/10 to lower average score making it utterly worthless

True, but too many critics gave Demon's Souls a lower score because it was too difficult when in fact, they probably just don't have patience for games with an actual challenge.
Simply put though, why would anyone give Oblivion a bad score if it didn't deserve it? It's not like it's in competition with any other game. It's not an exclusive. Why would they unless it was a bad game?
If anything, Demon's Souls deserved to get hit with low scores from Lemmings. It's a PS3 exclusive that won GOTY at a few places.

There is 49 of them, and Oblivion has 137 of them.
Also, did you read the Demon's Souls ones? They are all because the game is too hard for people. Now, the game is not that hard, I saw a youtube video of a guy speed running it in 10 minutes.

That still doesn't explain why there isn't that many for Demon's Souls, but a ton for Oblivion.
As I said, Demon's Souls was a PS3 exclusive, and Oblivion was a huge multiplat game. Why would Demon's Souls not have more negative user reviews considering all of the Xbox fanboys out there?

That's a fact, if you've ever played Morrowind. Which basically surpassed Oblivion in everything except combat and easiness.
You would think a sequel to a game would improve on the aspects of the prequel, not in this case though.
Dark Souls probably
But my xbox 360 gets all of Witcher 2, Skyrim, Dark Souls, FF13-2 so i dont have to choose, i can play them all

i did play morrowind, i just enjoyed oblivion more.Skyrim all the way for me, I'm a long time fan of the Elder Scrolls series and am a pretty big Fallout 3 and NV fan. Skyrim will feature a bigger world with more gameplay options and almost endless amount of fun time. Skyrim is a bigger game than Dark Souls and I'm sure you can just adjust the difficulty in Skyrim so you can make it just as challenging as Dark Souls.
Oh my God, an exact tie! Only broken by my choice of Dark Souls (by one).
But yeah, Dark Souls won't have as deep a world or NP interaction, but that action will be muchmore fluid and polished of Demon's Souls is any indication. Plus Elder Scrolls games are great, but they tend to be too easy, especially once you spend more time with it. With Demon's Souls, the game never let up in difficulty and tension.
[QUOTE="Chutebox"]
Dark Souls.
Skyrim combat just looks....dull.
Stringerboy
I don't see why. Infact the core gameplay is pretty much the same as Dark Souls, accept in first person.
Ugh, not even close. In latest videos, Skyrim doesn't look much better than Oblivion. ES combat has always been terrible.
Demon's Souls has the physics, the impact, the variety in weaponry, all of which actually feel different. Its combat is dozens of times better than all ES games combined.
Dark Souls probably

Lucky. The Witcher 2 looks so good.
Relating back to the poll, I would have to pick Dark Souls. I played Oblivion, and it felt so boring.
Just too difficult for me to choose, as they are both equally my most anticipated games of the year. I will enjoy them for what each brings to the table. Skyrim for it's vast world that is rich with exploration and overall content. Dark Souls for the incredible atmosphere and rewarding challenge. I am just happy that I don't have to choose between them and will be buying both.
