Skyward Sword... FLOP of the gen thus far?

Made better than SS flop because unlike GT5, Zelda fans did not have a extremely similar product from a competing console maker (Forza vs. GT) on which their fanboys could have insulted for years while saying "Just wait", only to get utterly owned.

I can't deny that the ownage of us GT fans saying "just wait" was a monumental backfire lol. GT5 flopping was one of the biggest moments of ownage on a fanbase than almost ever before :(.

Maybe it's the flop of a generation for System Wars using Gamespot.com metagame...but, it's certainly a great videogame. Thanks Nintendo for giving us a True and proper Zelda Exclusive for the Wii. It took almost all generation, but it's arrived. Sure, it's an AAA at metacritic, and it's an A at Gamespot.com, but that's how the metagame works, lol.

As far as the drop, it was AAA HYPED and got two grades lower of a score A. However, the lack of Sheep outrage I think factors in too. Not sure if I care too much, but SS is certainly a contender for SW metagame, sure. :P

As far as reaction in SW, it's not like the Toilet Princess situation we had in SW, lol. Toilet Princess is trademarked by SolidTy Inc.

Nah SS was far from it, after TP who thought GS would give a Zelda game fair score? It only got 1.0 lower score than the expected 8.5

You cannot generalize :? .. Some people find TP amazing until this day .. and same will be also for SS .. One review from GS doesn't make the game bad. It is a flop here on GS, but from MC, I can see it has a very strong MC (more than U3 and GeOW3) :)

It is a matter of opinion in the end .. I find ES games not entertaining for me, but I like Zelda games .. does this make Skyrim a bad game? Hell no!!

GT5s the biggest flop in my opinion. For a game so viciously hyped to beat Forza 3 it fell well below the bar.

I don't think the other system fans genuinely care one way or the other if a Nintendo game makes the grade or not, they just love an opportunity to rub salt in the wound.

No offence to the Nintendo fans, but I couldn't care less if the it Scored a 10 or a 1. I think you have to consider how much the flop meant to SWs not just the fanbase.

For example, on the other end of the scale MGS4 was a big deal and a big victory for the cows (and they don't let people forget it :P) yet no one really cares that SMG 2 scored a 10 other than the Nintendo fans.

I love how quickly people forget the truly biggest Flops of the gen...hell i could even thrown Spore since it wasn't only hyped AAAE, it was also going to be the next revolution in gaming.

And my point stands, EVERY single Flop thread ends with the most recent Flop being the biggest Flop of the gen.

Action rpg that focuses on character bulilding and questing=/= action adventure which focuses on gadgets and puzzles

It depends on how a flop is rated on a scale. Is the size of the flop only determined by the score or is it also determined by the fan outcry afterwards?

I saw very little outcry from the fans from this flop, at least compared to the size of the flop I would say the outcry was small. I saw more people trying to harrass the sheep/Zelda fans than I saw fanboys hating on the review.

There are several other games that should be considered when outcry is also considered.

But even if it is only how far away the game was from the Hype'd score, then it still wouldn't be the winner. Games like Duke Nukem Forever, Lair, and Too Human had been much farther away from their AA-A Hype that they were being given if I remember right.

The way I see it, if this is all part of the SW metagame, we have to take into account that it is a "game" and that there must be some rules to govern how things are seen. People can't just shout out that a game is a flop of the gen without looking at the rest of the gen and showing why it is such based on the rules of the game.

Lair would have to be the biggest flop I've seen this gen. Scoring a 4.5 when it was hyped well beyond that by every cow known to man.

Let's not forget that it was sooooo bad it prompted Sony to come out a procedure for professional game sites on how to review this game. Talk about the ultimate damage control.

Lair was one of the most hyped PS3 games back then and Factor-5 being the developers had some influences on its hype. The gap between its hype and what it scored was bigger and its hype was bigger then SS, heck it flopped pretty much just about everywhere unlike SS. For a new IP it was hype to freaking sky high.

i beat skyward and gamespots score is just disgusting. Im not saying its a perfect game but its amazing.i think even gamespot knows this thats why skyward has been in the stickies so long. why does skyrim not have one?
