If you "could" care less, then you must care for it. :P I agree with Riverwolf, of course no one is saying that flops are terrible games, we're just going by the crazy SW metagame.[QUOTE="RavenLoud"][QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] hahaha, i could care less which flopped bigger, their both good games that alot of people worked hard on, they just didn't meet some people expectations, it happens. then by the meta game, zelda flopped harder than gt5
You mean scores? Yes, but GT5 was bigger because of reasons we both stated above. (i.e. fanboy lol ownage etc) I don't know about sales though.By the the "rules" of System Wars, yes. But it means absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing. Anyone who takes review scores that seriously is an idiot.
Depends on the criteria.
One way to judge whether it is a flop or not, is to poll a small sample of internet forum users and have them all guess what a single reviewer from a website will give the game, and then subsequently see if that reviewer gives the game a lower score than the plurality of that vote.
Another way would be to see if the game is extremely well received commerically, critically and by fans/gamers in general.
If we chose the first criterion, yes it is a big flop. If we chose the second criterion, than obviously it's not even close.

This is why I hate the gamers that come on these internet forums.....I'm not even sure if this is a joke or not......I don't even want to come here anymore whats the point? When games like Skyrim can get away with so many bugs and glitches and then yet a solid game like Skyward Sword gets bashed......I just don't get it.

You mean scores? Yes, but GT5 was bigger because of reasons we both stated above. (i.e. fanboy lol ownage etc) I don't know about sales though.they can tell themselves what ever they want but lets look at the hype straight from the ps3 guys themselves.Hyping AAAE, with an outside shot of AAAAE.
There is absolutely 100% no chance GT5 will get below a AAA score.
awesome thread GT5 AAAAE game for me best exlusive this year and day one purhase
AAA garanteed.
AAA from me, and a shot at AAAA. All i know, is that this game needs to get a 9.5 or above.
AAA with out a doubt
GT5 will be the game that takes the sales of the PS3 above the 360s in total
AAA. with out a doubt its going to be the best racing game to date
I'm hyping a solid 10. As no racing game in this generation has had this much content.
I'm going to be a realist and say AAAE.
Game will be at least AAAE.
Definitely a 9.0 or 9.5 but damn it could well get the 10...
I believe that GT5 should get 10 if its very good game, because we wait so long for this $@%&$*% to get out to our hand!
Mark my words GT5 will be the next 10/10 title! cant wait
gt5 took a very very long time and taking a very very long time means it will be very very good. gt5 will be the first racing sim that will get aaaae garanteed without a question
I'm very surprised at how close the AAAA votes are up there
I voted AAAAE. I got the balls to.
I vote AAAAE. Only because after seeing the list and knowing PD's work I can't see it scoring less
This is the most AAAA votes I've ever seen, and honestly I think the majority of them are legit
I think it will get a 9-9.5/10.
and this went on for like 1,000 pages and right up until the game came out not to mention the years of hype leading up to the actual hype thread.
edit: btw here is my 1st post in the gt5 hype thread just so this is fair.
in the past i have been very critical of the gt series.
i have watched poly not be able to keep up with even the least of the driving game makers with their inability to go online or provide what people expect a modern race game to provide like damage.
now here we are in the home stretch of release and i don't see much to convince meanything will change.
half-assed damage and an inexperenced online team is not convincing me that gt5 will be that great.
my guess is that gt5 will ship with broken online and will not get called out for it like say socom did and manage to get a 9.
will i buy it? maybe, the 3D announcement took me by suprise and i am really hurting for 3D software to be able to take advantage of my tvs capabilities.
The score was based off of faulty reasoning which has contradicted most review sites, and the ones that do agree has even less credibility and professionalism. If they truly wish to bash the controls, the only fault would be the technology itself, and how Skyward Sword did its best to work around it. Motion controls are only going to get better from here, and personally, the only fault I found with Skyward Sword is that you can't do quick swipes or else the controls can't catch up. That is not the fault of the game itself, rather the fault of the limitations of motion controls right now.Zelda getting a 7.5? Yea, I'd consider that a massive flop, at least on this site. I'd never imagine in my wildest dreams Zelda getting such a score.

Would you really expect a critic to go ahead and give the game a 9 when he wasn't all that impressed?Zelda getting a 7.5? Yea, I'd consider that a massive flop, at least on this site. Holy dumbass look people logic!
IGN started as a Nintendo fan site. They have zero credibility where it concerns the reviewing of Nintendo games.it got 10 on ign, its not a flop
Sorry but a current metacritic score of 93 is by no means a flop. Tom McShea is a dumbass. I mean even though I don't own the game and I have only ever played a friends copy of it, it still seems underrated by GS and having a score thats so much lower than the metacritic score of 93 proves my opinion.DeX2010He didn't like the game doesn't make him a dumbass.
So I suppose all the other sources that gave it 9's and 10's are fanboy sites too right? :roll:IGN started as a Nintendo fan site. They have zero credibility where it concerns the reviewing of Nintendo games.it got 10 on ign, its not a flopGarrusVakarian7
I take no issue with the 9 reviewers other than considering such a high score suspect but I wouldn't outright call those people liars. The reason I wouldn't is because to give Skyward Sword less than 10 suggests it is NOT a perfect product which it isn't. A game loaded with fetch quests, shoddy controls and a guide that spouts an endless wall of text at you and annoyingly holds your hand all throughout the game to overprotective babying insult your intelligence levels is NOT a game that is perfect but rather one that is heavily flawed hence deserving of a less than 10 perfect score. -Silent Realm fetch quests -Tad notes fetch quest -Shoddy controls in need of constant recentering and recalibration -an annoying guide that breaks the 4th wall by informing you the batteries of your Wii remote are in need of recharge -shoddy Nintendo 64 quality washed out kiddy graphics -Linearity -Another BS ending to the story where they still don't kiss eachother And THIS is supposed to be the Ocarina Of Time killer? Give me a break. This game gives Superman 64 a run for its money though as one of the worst games ever created. A bastardization of the Zelda series this insulting hasn't been seen since Celda's unveiling all those shameful years ago.So I suppose all the other sources that gave it 9's and 10's are fanboy sites too right?

No, it's gotta be Lair. That was just epic.
Plus, as someone else said, it was enough to virtually cripple a studio that was once thought of in high regard.
The TC reminded me of Spore, LOL.
Well I suppose among the games with an actual history in gaming Zelda wins by far this gen. Otherwise I'm sure that Lair, Too Human or Haze are still above it.

Haha glad someone caught that.:P I guess SW is too young nowadays to forget the serious HYPE behind that one.:( As for the topic, yeah I totally meant it in that way, I mean c'mon 7.5 and the game doesn't even suck or isn't as unfinished as GT5 was at launch (which got an 8.0).:P
In this realm of SW, perhaps. However, I know not ONE person who doesn't think the game is absolutely amazing. I don't even know a person that has problems with the controls.
I'd have to agree with the above poster on Brink. Not only was it sort of hyped with ads and whatnot, but the game turned out to be a turd and can be bought for $10 new, now.
[QUOTE="mems_1224"]i haven't played it but its been getting amazing reviews. idk how that can be considered a flop :|lundy86_4
I do. Due to the System Wars definition.
Game is bomb.
You are so right,it is da bomb. Its only a flop on this lame site.Nothing about Skyward Sword flops.A broken game like Skyrim gets goty, and I love skyrim when it works, but Skyward Sword works and has great gameplay. This gen is over populated with reviewers who dont care about games but how cool they look putting down popular games.Skyward Sword controls great,if you know what your doing. My game of the year. Please Log In to post.
