So almost 7 years later... Halflife 2 vs Halo 2

So I havent been on these boards for years, but when I was it was all about Halo2 and Halflife 2 and which was better. So after all these years I wonder what the consenses is here now in SW. Of course it should be Hl2 but I wanna know if there is anyone still standing behind Halo 2.

Half Life 2.

halo 2 is more fun because of its multiplayer, but hl2 single player hands down, although i do find it a little overratted

I had a lot more fun with Halo 2. Gunplay was a lot more fun and it had multiplayer so it was like twice the game that half life 2 was.

Half-Life 2. Master Chief can go home.

Halo 2 for multiplayer and Half Life 2 for single player. No need to argue.

I still find Halo 2 easily more enjoyable.

Half Life 2, but I like Halo CE better then them both, I loved its campaign so much.

I had HL2 day one and i honestly couldnt finish it (or even go that far in it) just didnt find it very enjoyable though the graphics were awesome at the time :P. As for Halo 2, i got hundreds of hours of fun with the MP, though the SP wasnt as good as Halo: CE's.

So yeah, Halo 2 gets my vote.

I was a massive Halo 2 fan at the time. However on reflection and when the games came out....Half life 2 Easily,However....

• people tend to forget Bungie had to scrap virtually everything they had with Halo 2 and re build the game in 9 months to shipping. Notice the difference from the E3 Demo (which looked amazing). To what they delivered. Halo 2 was virtually a Beta of the game it self.

Half-Life 2 easily. Halo 2 I find extremely boring. The first one is pretty excellent (at least the first half of the game), but the second one just feels pretty meh. It's easily the weakest in the Halo series.

I will also mention how much it seems to me that the first Halo had an definite influence on Valve with HL2, with the vehicles and large open levels during the middle parts of the game most especially.

Halo 2. I enjoyed both though.

I could play the Halo 2 campaign all day erryday. I have not once beaten Half-Life 2. I've tried playing it 4 times now. I keep getting bored. It's an extremely overrated game, from an extremely overrated series. And it's funny, because I own Half-Life 2, and the first expansion. However I don't own any Halo game, nor an Xbox at all.

I think I put a 1000 hours into halo 2. Maybe 10 for half life 2.

I don't know if I'd call it weakest in the series... Halo 3 was pretty poor in terms of single player an really the exact same game in terms of multiplay, so yeah... I'd say Halo 1 is the best, reach and 2 are second and 3 is a distant third.

Also, I like half life 2, but never understood why people think it's so amazing compared to other shooters. What made it good was it's technical prowess. Things like physics weren't really common, the gravity gun was sort of cool, and the graphics were pretty good. But the gameplay? Truthfully, it was sort of meh, and the only thing that saved the gameplay from just plain not being fun for me was it had a pretty cool atmosphere which sort of helped me ignore the fact I didn't have much fun shooting anything in it.

Back then I loved Halo and didn't really care for HL.

I was super dissapointed with Halo 2's SP.

I then played HL-2 and was blown away, it also came with CSS for the MP portion of the game and that beats Halo 2 any day.
