Still awesome to play with friends in the room. Me and my friends play it regularly.
In sells yes, but not in games. When they announced the Wii U I actually took an interest. Well I decided to go look and see what Wii games I would like to get for the Wii U if I decided to get the Wii U seeing it is BC with Wii games. I was a bit surprised at just how little they have that interest me. I think it was only like 5-6 games. The Wii has been out all this time and that's all the games they could come out with that appeal to me. I hope with the Wii U being as powerful as the true current gen consoles that devs will take it more seriously than the Wii.
Anyone who says it is the winner better also believe CoD is the winner.millerlight89
Thats how the winner was always decided, but CoD wouldn't win because there are a few games that've sold more than Black Ops/Modern Warfail 2.

CoD the winner of what? and yes, the Wii is the winner so far of this gen, it sold the most, is really that hard to understand.

No games matter too. And the Wii has suffered a sudden death. How ironic that all that seems to matter for Cows and Lemms are sales.
madsnakehhh
Question, did Wii win this generation? Answer Yes, you can complain everything you want though.
Oh, and yes, i can replay Zelda again, and again, and again, and again, trust me, it never get's old.
Whoever wins a generation shouldn't be determined by sales alone, you have to take everything into consideration. If the Wii had a library that could even remotely compete with the 360 and PS3, then yeah the sales would sure make a case for it being this generations winner. However that is not the case, the Wii's library is pitiful.
The PS2 won last gen because it had the sales AND games. Wii does not.

So who won this gen?Sales = wii
Games = PC.
Overall? PC, because it can play Wii games :P It it was only consoles (But its SW so you can't count it out) then the Wii would win because sales determine the winner. PS2 won last gen because of that. IMHO it had the worst selection of games (Not saying it was bad) but I'd take the GC/Xbox selection over it.

Who won then? who had the best games then? whatever it is the answer one thing is pretty clear, Wii has sold the most this gen making it the winner thus far, you can argue about libraries all you want, the fact is that we will never determine who has best library, that's why we got to go by hard numbers, which are Wii way ahead of the competition.
PS2 won because it sold the most, i could argue the library was pretty awful but that wouldn't take away the fact that PS2 beat the crap out of the Xbox and the GC, which would it be the same thing you are doing.
Wii sold the most, is pretty much Wii won the gen.

Hate to break it to you, but the generation aint over. The 360 and PS3 have the potatial to catch Wii sales in the next couple of years.
We compare libraries based on critic averages etc. Which is pretty fair thing to do. The PS2 had the best library last gen. Its not exactly a fact, but its the general consensus. Same can be applied for this gen. The Wii has no chance of winning that, its just missed out on far far too many games that the 360 and PS3 share.

Granted, gen isn't over, so let's see if any of the twins can get some other 40 millions of sales in 2 or 3 years.
Compare libraries based on critics averages? why? why we should do that, what could that indicate us when there are a lof of other factors, what sites should we choose? should we go by MC or by Gamesranking? doesn't GS scores are the only one that matters? Should we only count Exclusives? does MLB The Show 09 count as a PS3 exclusive? does ToV count as an exclusive? What about PC? etc, etc, etc, etc, Gamers will never, never, never will agree what library is the best.

Definitely achieveable with further price drops.
And yeah, metacritic or gamerankings would be the obvious choice. Gamespot would just be for the SW metagame. And no, only counting exclusives doesn't prove anything because there are a ton of games (GTAIV, RDR, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, LA Noire, Deus Ex etc etc) that the 360 and PS3 share, that do not appear on the Wii.
People don't have to agree. They need to recognise what the general consensus is on which library is the best. If one library has 100 AAA games, and the other 200, it has to be accepted that the one with 200 AAA games is better. What your preference is, is irrelevant.
well, if you are going by sales, yeah (but of course sales =/= quality). if you are going by exclusives, I think it has more good ones than than the 360 but less than the PS3.

It isn't over, but the Wii is going to be supported still. It could pull a PS2 and drop down to $100 bucks.
And no, when comparing who won generations we compare sales. I don't remember anyone saying anything about PS2's games except for God of War and Onimusha (we so need another one of those.) Sales are the best way we have of comparing who won, unless someone wants to go dig up and compare all the score data and tell every other gaming message board.
And no, the Wii library is fine. Does it have blockbuster hits that the 360 and PS3 have? No, but it still has a ton of quality games. IMO, way more than the 360 has.

Lol no. According to the SW Spreadsheet:

Wii has:
Of course these are from the SW spreadsheet, meaning they are just representative of Gamespot scores, but im willing to bet that the metacritic / gameranking results would not be far off. The Wii isn't even close. And thats not even counting XBLA games, which for the record, destroy the WiiWare library.

they are the only ones that matter simply in SW because they are games that a console offers that none of the other ones do. thats why people in SW generally talk about exclusives. multiplats prove nothing for a specific console. this is SW basics here. i shouldn't be explaining this to you.[QUOTE="RR360DD"][QUOTE="arbitor365"]

Those consoles are so similar that it really comes down to the exclusives. But the Wii this gen has went off on its own path, which is why big multiplats such as GTA, Bioshock, Assassins Creed etc. do matter. Despite them being multiplat, they do not appear on the Wii.
There is absolutely no way the Wii beats the 360 in games. In exclusives sure, but not games as a whole. Not having multiplats really hurts it.In terms of sales? Yes!
In terms of games? It was close second behind PS3 in my opinion.
Great console to own.
BlbecekBobecek
Sales yes
Games, no
Unlike the past 2 gens, the #1 console didn't have the most sales and most good games at the same time.
Though PS3 or 360 could still beat the wii in the long rung (since WiiU might kill it early)
But the Kinect would have to become much moe succesful, and a 199 PS3 would have to sell extremly well.

i dont think the the ps3 and 360 are catching 8-+ million honestly with 360 nex console comming in 2012

yes it isIf we're talking pure profit, then, yes, Wii wiped the floor with everyone else.
turtlethetaffer
If you mean profit on hardware then yes the wii was overpriced and it sold 85 million units plus accessories. So clearly it won on hardware on software that is another story. On the nintendo side they did great but the console had the worse attach rate by far of all three consoles. Also not sure how many 3rd party games broke 1 million in sales out of 85 million consoles. Not sure on the number but maybe 5 would be my guess. So yeah nintendo did good on things but how many games did nintendo make for the platform out of the 500 games on the system ??
The rest besides a dancing games did poorly. I have to take a look but if I remeber it was 14 or 15 and they did 90 to 95 percent of the sales on the wii. So you have a console with great 1st party games not counting the wii sports/fit/play ect stuff and the rest was shovelware barely worthy of a rental. The wii was a good 2nd console at best and a waste of money at worse. I sold mine before the price drops like many people did.
At the e3 before the wii's launch nintendo claimed the wii had great 3rd party support and was talking to devs about the online gaming platform. We all know how that turned out. Now the ps2 last gen had the worst graphics and the online was free but not that good but it had games. Any kind of game you wanted the playstation had you covered. It was truely like the ps1 the system to own. I had the wii and it was many months with nothing to play and the online when it worked was painful. Also this gen is far from over the 360 and ps3 are very much alive and still selling hardware and games both hard copies and digital.
To call the wii the winner at this point would mean that sony and ms had next gen systems on deck and stopped shipping the current systems. The wii was a winner for nintendo only not for gamers or for 3rd party devs.
Dude I honestly have a hard time reading any of your posts.wait since when did it not win the games bracket,
-- its got everything snes and n64 had and more except fzero and starfox-
so ya im going to call bull on that call , its got double the games gc had and n64 had , most of the games being actually very good , dispite what some may refer to bargin bin titles, ive played a fair share of them
- my sims comes to mind this one is alot more fun to play then sims is lol ,its not even a close battle, cause my sims is a actual game where you have to do stuff unlike sims where u can just simulate life lol
and then you got alot of off beat racing games- like mini desktop racers which mimicks micromachines very good
and yes wii won this gen even without wii nintendo won this gen -ds any body
ds actually won this gen by a mile and 2nd is wii 3rd is psp 4th 360 5th is ps3 , pretty bad , for sony but i wont say it was good for ms as they could not hold onto the lead!!! now what company before it could not hold on to the lead ? i ll give you a hint - they are third party since 2001 , and their only succesful console is genesis--- ya thats right microsoft may be following in segas foot steps not sure when but man they are on their third platform pretty soon and we will see how that pans out but right now their record is in line with sega!!! coming out with a console first but finishing cant say yet ,, ps3 and 360 still going at it , but wii won by default -- not because of number of sales but profit , and wii u already being out that will be like 3ds is doing now - a third pillar until wii is dead period then theyll focus on it remember itl take time before people switch over,
people c all 3ds a flop but they forget ds was doing this with gba around to ,so add ds and 3ds together to get your sales number for nintendo handhelds ,, thats how itll work unt il its done, people will have to transfer then , and i doubt theyll leave nintendo for shooting games on a psp lol
have fun with that little theory , handhelds have to have different types of games then consoles to succeed -see how psp already failed--- hello ports more ports of ps3 360 wii etc titles
thats not how you make a portable sell ,
and thats not going to make one sell next gen 3ds will have exclusives
what will vita have in terms of them well probably just spin offs of ps3 titles from sony ,
while 3ds has steel diver nintendogs continuing , resident evil revelatiosn and mercinaries
etc so ya nintendo as a whole won this gen and if i added gc and gba sales they came 2nd last gen
mariokart64fan
