For what its worth, you could say the same for halo's always scoring 9s across the board...even that stepchild odst(at least on gs). That is, if it wasnt for its jump on the sword fanbase. Scores and sales dont mean much.Good for gt5, but I wont be a part of those sales until it hits the 20$ mark. Even with the updates, I cant see myself taking the time to play it. Still, pretty impressive.

Not really. I trust published scores more than I trust sales of a game as reviews are more closely indicative of quality. A game is still good even if it sells poorly(Panzer Dragoon Orta) and games can still be poor if it sells well.Depends who you ask. How many people call foul on supermario kart 64 or play mvc2 immensely even at a 7.5? Hell, mgs3 vanilla, and dropping from its 9.0 days, yet being widely excepted to be the best. Foul Ball? Maybe, maybe.. There may be a general consensus of scores, but if I had a nickel every time I got a bad taste in my mouth over an AAA... When it comes down to it, reviewers are gamers, like us, with a paycheck.
Of course they'll be more closey indicative of quality; Its their job. but when the hype train comes, I never put all my eggs in one basket over them. A realistic approach is to read a review. Multiple reviews. Then look up gameplay and get a consensus from the bigger group. "Normal" gamers you could say. Not see a score, read the good/bad and jump. Just my view.
As for sales, Well they dont matter whatsoever.
