You guys are missing the point!!!

TC is comparing the 360 with all of that stuff. And it shows that the 360 with all of the stuff that the PS3can dowould cost 200 dollars more than the PS3 does.

It proves that MS is ripping people off!!!!!

The BD doesn't exist and not everyone needs Wifi. You are also implying all the extras the PS3 have are needed, when they aren't...

I am implying is that why the 360 is costing way more than what the PS3 can do for less.

It can be argued that at least the 360 has choice. Some people don't need a harddrive so they can opt for the cheap arcade. Some people don't need WiFi, so they don't need the adapter. Whereas with PS3, even if you don't need or want some of the features you still have to pay the same price. Then again that argument was better before the PS3 pricecut

@garland people like to have a lot of space on their consoles some peoples set up doesnt allow them to have a wired connection so wifi is not pointless imo online services shouldnt cost anything kind of a stupid argument because you just said buy a 200$ model then spend 100$ more for a 120 HDD when you could just buy a 300$ system, newboba707

To be honest, first of all, I prefer the white color on the X-Box 360; I don't feel good about the black color. Second, you can just take an ethernet cord & connect one end on the back of your 360, & the other end onto your computer or laptop (with internet access, of course). Third, PSN isn't exactly up there with X-Box Live, & just because it's free doesn't make it better. And finally, you can get good deals off Microsoft's HDD for space like I said earlier.

a lot of people need wifi. and the CEO over at microsoft said that BR players would be accessories so it may/or may not exist and no im implying that the ps3 is cheaper because it includes everything

There's a poll on SW done by AdobeArtist that shows that there is a split between who uses wifi, who uses cable, and who prefers one over the other.

Everything you mentioned is not needed though I will agree that it does not match the excellent quality of the PS3 hardware. Yes, the PS3 is worth more bang for your buck when you want an overall better piece of hardware. I dont think anyone disagrees that the PS3 is one fine piece of hardware while the 360 is a lot less reliable and less featured.

360 owners get on just fine without these add ons, and it sucks for the ones that need them. Your point has been made numerous times before, so I'd like to say u are stating nothing new.

Blu Ray is not required for games, many people are fine with no wifi so your extra $200 is pointless.

But he's listing stuff you don't need and stuff that doesn't exsists (read the kotaku article TC it doesn't state a blu-ray drive is in the works)He was referring to the instant 1080p movie streaming "Our immediate solution for Blu-ray-quality video on an Xbox 360 is coming this fall with Zune Video and 1080p instant-on HD streaming. As far as our future plans are concerned, we're not ready to comment". They didn't really say there is a blu-ray drive in the works.

Oh give me a break, put that figure in realistic terms and you can still clearly see that the what the 360 is charging for the same abilities of the PS3, is way more than what the PS3 charges.

but in the event that you would need it, if microsoft decided to start making games on a BR disc what would you do. and yes the 100$ price is not confirmed and it will probably be much higher seeing that the wifi adapter sells for 100$

So the real cost of the PS3 is

-$299 for the PS3

-$10 for the HDMI cable

-$600 for the gaming PC

Which is $909 and way more expensive then the 360. See I can do that to....

I'm sorry, your thread promised to demonstrated the "REAL" cost of the 360. All you've done is given me a hypothetical cost based on loose and unlikely assumptions.

Why do you want to pay for twitter & facebook from a gaming console? You can just get on your computer & log in with your free account. I don't need it to buy it on a gaming console. Plus what are you talking about, "paying more money just to play a game that you bought online?" If you already bought it once, you don't need to buy it again.

Haven't we already gone over that these items aren't a necessity? Seriously, I don't understand why this is so hard to understand. Do you think its some sort of victory that Sony charges less for these esoteric items? How does that reflect on the "real" 360 price when you both admit these ideas are hypothetical?

What if I demanded factoring in the cost of the more expensive PS3 controllers against the cheaper 360 controllers? It's a pointless exercise trying to call this all 'real', it's based on hypotheticals and shifting goalposts.

But they don't have. You promised a 'real' cost analysis for the 360. Yet you threw in items that are purely luxuries, and some items that don't even have real prices.

Having a Blu-ray player and adding it to the 360 cost makes no sense and is completely irrelevant also. As is the Wi-Fi adaptor. You have a very good point on the rip off that is XBL Gold, but surprisingly that's the only argument you haven't pursued.

[QUOTE="gamerlifegrace"] you were joking about that figure right??? ok.... 1500 dollars to play crysis and say its the "best looking game ever".boba707

So you're saying $1509 for the PS3 now? Ok

having a gaming PC and adding it to the PS3 cost makes no sence and is completley irrelevant

Irony coming from the TC. We can say the same from the OP....

[QUOTE="gamerlifegrace"][QUOTE="Danm_999"] Haven't we already gone over that these items aren't a necessity? Seriously, I don't understand why this is so hard to understand. Do you think its some sort of victory that Sony charges less for these esoteric items? How does that reflect on the "real" 360 price when you both admit these ideas are hypothetical?Danm_999
esoteric? Those are items i use all of the time!!!

You'd use the Blu-ray player on the 360 all the time? ok 5$ difference for the controllers, controllers that do more might i add
And I know its a hypothetical, but these figures (even a little) proves that the 360 charges way more for their stuff than the PS3!!!gamerlifegrace
What if I demanded factoring in the cost of the more expensive PS3 controllers against the cheaper 360 controllers? It's a pointless exercise trying to call this all 'real', it's based on hypotheticals and shifting goalposts.

you do realize that people use these features, it would be one thing if they didnt, but they do

But they don't have. You promised a 'real' cost analysis for the 360. Yet you threw in items that are purely luxuries, and some items that don't even have real prices.

no they dont have to but they do and if they want to they are there, unlike the 360 where you have to spend an extra 200$

So then you did not provide a 'real cost' analysis for the 360 and the PS3? You provided a highly contextual and occaisonally fictional one.

No, it's actually a very real one. There's a reason why those accesories (well except the BluRay one of course :P) have hundreds of days on the top 100 of amazon and I usually see the wifi between the top 20 (even higher than the Xbox!). A lot of people buy the 360 accesories, there's nothing "fictional" about it.

How am I overreacting? Real promises some measure of truth. Not only did the TC add things that didn't need to be added, he made up prices. In what sense is all that 'real'?

My fictional comment was aimed at your fabricated Blu-ray price. And Amazon sales do not make this anymore real. You've given me an anecdote. The 'real' cost of the 360 is 300+XBL fees.

How about no! Wrong you are, silly noob.

360 + Live = $350. There you go, happy gaming.

I was just making a point that it would cost more for the stuff on the 360 for what we have for the PS3.

The REAL cost of an xbox 360 is the price of the console, plus tax. Plain and simple. If you want your 360 to do everything a PS3 does, maybe you bought the wrong console from the jump. And even then, you still miss out on exclusives features and games that are only on Playstation.
