Pretty sure it only costs 300. If you buy a bunch of addons then yes you're going to get milked. Solution: don't buy lame addons. XBL is cheap. I paid for WoW for three years of my life. Paying for Live doesn't bother me.
The best thing about all of that is that its OPTIONAL. I despise $ony because they have a track record of forcing technologies on the consumer, specifically their loyal fanbase and then charging premiums for it.

haha i never seen the lems so angry about something haha you would think the TC slept with their mums or something. when i bought my xbox i wanted wifi but i costed 150 AU! I nearly fell over when i found out. a complete rip off - and yes wifi is great, not everyone can have a wired connection. what the TC is talking about is how much microsoft really is ripping of their fans compared to sony especially when sony offer free wifi, online, blueray and ability to install ur own hard drive. In my opinion the ps3 blows the 360 out of the water console wise - however the 360 does have a great bunch of games.joel_c17
No MS has stated, if you want you console to play games here it is. If you want optional accessories, you have to pay for them. Stating PS3 is better because it offers optional unwanted and unneeded accessories is moot. I find it funny that in every cow argument, they say the additional features of XBL are unwanted and uneeded yet try to tell me the optional features of the PS3 are wanted and needed...
so what's the real cost of a ps3 if you buy a HDMI cable and a headset aswell? i am beginning to think the word OPTIONAL ie NOT ESSENTIAL is completely lost on cows, by the way the blu-ray add on is for MOVIES, not GAMES, so it's not really essential is it now
