my PS3 is 299$ it can play GT5,MW2,GOW3. and it will play the latest games till 2017 at least! good luck with your rig.austral0pitecus

Wow is that all you can manage? I already stated the PC's advantages over the PS3 to justify its price and thats all you can come up with? 2017? We won't be stuck with outdated pieces of garbage for that long next gen is around 2011-2013 and PC can be cheaper. Its 2009 assuming you buy 10 games a year then thats: 600$ for console price around 400$ for PC price (in europe difference is 10-20$ not to mention some pc games are 40$ or drop to that price really fast and Steam/Impulse weekend sales), you save 200$ with your pc that goes on until 2012 for next gen then thats 1.6k$ for pc and 2.4k for consoles, 800$ price difference, upgrades are usually only every 3-4 years but since were this deep into the gen to the point where graphics can no longer go much further then I won't need to upgrade until next gen unless I want to play the latest Total War/Crysis games but multiplat it will always be the same.

In the long run consoles are more expensive than a pc (if you know how to make it that way).

But then again I don't even expect you to make a constructive counter arguement.

and considering you can watch any movie thats available on Blu Ray on a cheaper dvd that makes it not needed there either. I am not saying that its not a nice addition to the PS3 im just saying yet again that Blu Ray is not necessary for anything as of yet. Now if it outlives DVD's and becomes the only format movies or games are released on than yeah it will be necessary.

THank GOD we don't have to see any more cheap PC build threads. PC gaming isn't cheap, if you're a gamer. If you're a casual (non enthusiast) then sure you can play games at a really low price... but its not going to be a current game with a decent framerate on high settings.

$300 that won't even buy the GPU I'm looking at upgrading to for my rig. Let alone, MB, PwrSupply, RAM, CPU, etc.

Still have no plans to buy a PS3 though.... I'd rather spend $500 on a vid card than $300 on a PS3. PC exclusives > XBOX exclusives = Wii exclusives >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PS3 exclusives. Take away Blizzard though... and the PC becomes much less attractive. Anyway... I rambling.

OMG Hermits make me laugh....

Ah I can buy them all on my CC.... Hooray... that means they are FREE!

Also, when you buy a console you already have a TV.... 99.9% of people have a TV, before ever buying a console. Do those people also have a Monitor before they ever buy a PC?

Guy walks into a PC shop to buy his first PC... does he need to buy a monitor? Most likely YES!

Same guy walks into a store to buy a console... does he need to buy a TV? Almost certainly NO!

But even monitor/TV aside, you can't build a good PC for $300, unless you are stealing parts/software... and/or taking parts/software from a pre-existing system.
