The latest patch 1.3 is on it's way and it's a dandy....

New Features

  • SOCOM Awards and PSN Trophies
  • DTS audio support
  • Add HUD and scoreboard opacity
  • Scoreboard invocation improvements (tap select for persistent scoreboard, hold for temporary)
  • Spectator mode HUD turns off after brief interval
  • Spectator camera look now respects user invert on/off setting
  • Spectator camera pan now consistent with in game camera
  • Add dive-to-prone
  • Add lean control to d-pad
  • Gear items stackable
  • Extend post-round period
  • Restrict RPGs and grenade launchers in ranked rooms
  • Increase prone movement speed
  • Adding support for lefty control configuration (analog stick functions swapped)
  • Increase frag grenade effectiveness
  • Prevent incorrect reload interruptions
Bug Fixes
  • Fix animation issue when prone rolling near certain objects.
  • Fix remaining issues with statistics gathering and display
  • Fix bugs related to equipping of C4 in breach mode
  • Fix occasional audio drop outs
  • Fix last remaining framerate hitch when other clients late join
  • Fix remaining stability issues
  • Fix hostages being affected by smoke

Socom Confrontation just keeps getting better and better :D (Highlighted some of my favorite additions)

Slant Six has released the 1.20 patch today, in doing so it makes the GS review from this point on inaccurate....HOORAH!

The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.20 update addresses the following issues:

  • Fixed many issues which would cause the game to crash, hang, disconnect and exit to the PS3 XMB.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause large numbers of players in a high player count game to be simultaneously disconnected.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause players to be invincible.
  • Fixed a physics issue which would cause players to occasionally "warp" around on the map.
  • Fixed an issue where a "corrupt save data" message would be incorrectly displayed after updating the game.
  • Fixed some player model issues related to team swapping.
  • Client/server optimization.
  • Fixed an issue where the scope camera had an incorrect offset from the barrel of the gun while prone or leaning/peeking.

If anyone is still hesitant about picking up Socom Confrontation, don't be the game is great and running oh so smooth.

That's good to know, the game isn't out till December here in the UK so I guess it will all be plain sailing for me and SOCOM: Confrontation.

Why didn't they ship the game with this update rather than having to update it later?

Yea IGN actually waiting till the game is playabel. They couldint get into games or they would constally get disconnected from the servers.Thats why the review hasent gone up. If a game is unplayable whats the point of reviewing it.

Ohh well, might as well get it now :D Was waiting for this update. But still, I must defend GS USA review of the game. Gamespot UK better have a personal review though as they are receiving the real deal.

Its like with STALKER CS. The game released flawed, and the reviewer MUST take notice on that. So, I still see GS review as correct.

The update helps but there are still things that need to be implemented. Overall, I like the game and it's addicting.

They should reconsidered reviews and scores when important patches are released.

So Shall we add on to CoD2's score of an 8.8? I mean it had serious online problems but with them fixed I'm sure it would be a AAA title. One of my fav games this gen.

as much how you and me want GS to do that, it wont happen.

i do agree with the review score actually.

shipping a MULTIPLAYER-online only game with the servers on a bad mood, then of course it didnt recieve the respect and praise it deserved.

  • Fixed an issue where the scope camera had an incorrect offset from the barrel of the gun while prone or leaning/peeking.

W1NGMAN-

That issue was driving me freaking nuts...I hated being scope in and had the drop...only to find out I was hitting nothing but wall ...So I had to pull more out of cover....With it fixed.... I will push into cover A LOT more...

I played quite a bit today and it still had a lot of lag...I want this thing Warhawk smooth

They now have 3x the amount of ranked servers in each channel. Much quicker to find an open room while searching for what you're looking for.

I always liked Socom I and II , so I still have my eye on this one to se how things progress. I'll consider buying after the next patch along with a features update if things are going well then.

I think Slant Six should make up for it by giving fans the first planned map-pack dlc for free. Do it.

W1NGMAN-

I'm happy that the game is fixed but the review is still 100% accurate. They reviewed the retail copy of the game on release and that is what was reviewed. So they are 100% accurate in the retail arrival of the game. Most reviewers do not review games later in their life span when they are updated.

Regardless of which glad the game is fixed. Next game this team makes they best not make the same mistakes or they will just get penalized in the saem exact way.

Flops are about scores not about the quality of the game unfortuantely. If a AAAA hyped game scored a 9.5 its still a flop even though that game is amazing. Its wierd I know lol.

How many games has GS ever re-reviewed? I can think of Metroid Prime Hunters on DS because they legitimently messed up the review with info that wasn't true but they did not change the score.

What i find interesting is that if GS UK gives it a higher review, is it still a flop?. In system wars people say that GS reviews only, the UK part is still classed as GS though.

That's why I put 10/21/08 - 10/29/08....it was accurate for 8 days but from this point on not anymore, and anyone looking to pick up Socom Confrontation should not make their judgement based off of GSs review.

W1NGMAN-

Holy **** that changelist is embarassing. How the hell could they release the game like that? And I bet that's not all of it. Should be fixed for the European release though, it better be.

Overlord for the 360/PC. There was also some Wii game last year that go re-reviewed, the name escapes me.

Even if Confrontation get's re-reviewed, the score honestly won't change much. The game is very much bare bones. Missing important features we were promised.

W1NGMAN-

Regardless of 100,00 future patches the review is accurate. GS only reviews the original retail product. Not later updated ones. Thus it is accurate to what they recieved originally. When you look at a game review its not going to tell you about the Map Packs, the DLC, the updates ect. All reviews are done on the original retail product.

So yes the game is improved but it doesn't change the authenticity of the review as we all know reviews are not updated to fit game updates.

I'd put that up as a temporary review. "This game is so unbelievably broken to **** that we couldn't play it extensively enough to provide you with an accurate review. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Do not support ass games."

and LO's score was docked for long loading times that aren't even an issue with the retail version of the game. It was ONLY an issue for the copies sent to places for review. :|

and LO's score was docked for long loading times that aren't even an issue with the retail version of the game. It was ONLY an issue for the copies sent to places for review. :|

and besides, it doesn't matter whether one was SP or MP.

My point was that one is required to have online capabilities to play the game while the other doesn't, meaning you're leaving out a certain percentage of players that won't get the patch.

They should reconsidered reviews and scores when important patches are released.wado-karate

how so , they gave them socom to reveiw, its kinda silly to change a reveiw because of patches, it should be reveiwed how it is at launch, its not gamespots fault socoms online was released in a buggy state.

Nope it's still a big flop! I guess after the patches for Fable II are released gamespot should do a new review for it too.

PS3_3DO

Yep it's still a flop, and why exactly does Fable 2 need a patch? I didn't see a "Broken" emblem in the review.

Slant Six has released the 1.20 patch today, in doing so it makes the GS review from this point on inaccurate....HOORAH!

Not-A-Stalker

I'm happy that the game is fixed but the review is still 100% accurate. They reviewed the retail copy of the game on release and that is what was reviewed. So they are 100% accurate in the retail arrival of the game. Most reviewers do not review games later in their life span when they are updated.

Regardless of which glad the game is fixed. Next game this team makes they best not make the same mistakes or they will just get penalized in the saem exact way.

Some reviewers have already said they are going to review the game (1UP), but Gamespot has yet to say either way... So at this point either could happen...

How many games has GS ever re-reviewed? I can think of Metroid Prime Hunters on DS because they legitimently messed up the review with info that wasn't true but they did not change the score.

Overlord for the 360/PC. There was also some Wii game last year that go re-reviewed, the name escapes me.

Even if Confrontation get's re-reviewed, the score honestly won't change much. The game is very much bare bones. Missing important features we were promised.

I believe Shenmue 2 was rereviewed.
