People just dont look at GS for reviews you know they hear from word of mouth and other gameing centerd sites. If they wana uniform opinion of the game then they need to go to metacritic or gamerankings.

In other words, they should have never released an online game with broken online. Seems like a no-brainer. Fix it, then ship it. I hate this ship then patch stuff that is becoming accepted in the console world.

but it was that bad and its been confirmed by nearly every site. The game was broken out of the box which should never happen they could have postponed release easily but didn't.

Well I've been playing the heck out of the background screen now for about a 1 1/2 weeks lol. So NO it wasn't quite as bad as he was saying or else I wouldn't be able to play it for the past week or 2 for about 4-6 hours at a time :)

But I do like that he didn't just put up some review knowing that it wouldn't be true to what the game actually has to offer.

this game deserv a 7 without the bugs

they really need to redo reviews for alot of these online only games, since patches and updates can completely change everything. Look at burnout: paradise and warhawk, they are significantly better now than when they were first released.piano_pimp

I've read the review, and no way does it sound like an average shooter, I would personally give it an 8.

You get one chance to make a first impression, and if you buy SOCOM and receive the virtual equivalent of a Cleveland steamer when you put it in the disc drive, followed up by a good teabagging, then it's not really enough when Sony pats you gently on the head a couple of days later and apologizes.DJ_Lae

Actually it is considering Socom player/fans forgive and forget easily once patches are released (especially since this is an online only game). I'm not sure if the review should change but I think GS should have waited a week.

That's all you really needed to say. I completely agree.

SOCOM is just another in a long list of games (this generation alone, mind you) that has suffered from the all too common "release now, patch later" mentality many developers have adopted.

They didn't entirely re-review it, but they did take another look at Lair after the analog control patch.

Well it looks like the overall opinions in this thread (with the exception of mostly cows) are that you don't re-review games for patches, updates etc. and I agree. It's up to the publishers and devs to make sure the game is ready and playable on day one.

Do cows actually believe they are better than everybody else? Like they have a sense of entitlement that others are not afforded?

Stop complaining about reviews already. Lemmings, sheep, and hermits dont' act this bad over reviews here.

Just to put this to rest, here is a quote for GS's Kevin V regarding reviews:

Our policy regarding reviews remains the same; that is, we will not change review scores based on updates made to games after their release. Reviews provide a snapshot of a game as it existed when the review was written, and we cannot consistently revisit every game based on patches, tweaks, and added content. Nor will we be giving add-on content a score in the traditional sense. Consider the information we cover here to be an adjunct to the original review.
