Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be Sonic's comeback!

Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed were both great games, I'm sure Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will also be great. I have a feeling that the critics will like the game too this time around. It looks really fun, I can't wait.

Look at it this way OP. We'll be enjoying the game while others continue nitpicking it for no reason instead of just playing the game.

Just because Sonic 06 and Unleashed were bad doesn't mean this one will be. 2D entirely changes things. I'm not saying that means the game will be good but it's hardly the same situation.

That looked good, and I'm one of the most critical Sonic fans around. There's actual platforming in this one, which is something I thought was really missing from the handheld games.

I expect it to be. Fun fact: I've played all the 2D Sonics, but none of the 3D ones. Thus, I will compare this game to the 2D iterations... I hope to not be dissapointed! :D

Did the Sonic Cycle work for All Stars Racing?

I'm starting to get so sick and tired of these sonic cycle posts. It has been shown many times in previous threads that cycle is null and void because of the way sega's creating sonic 4. So please stop talking about the sonic cycle now and respect sega for once and for all. There not as bad as some other companies.

To answer to sonictrainer's question I don't think the sonic cycle worked for either Sonic and Sega All-Star racing or Sonic and the secret rings and maybe Sonic Heroes and almost all the handheld one'sbecause these games weren't trashed as hard as the other sonic games.

3D Sonic's are good, when you consider just the Sonic Adventure, Adventure 2, the remakes of those two, and that's about it.

For me it went down hill after Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Heroes was the start of the slip for me, that game was terrible in my eyes. I don't think I've gotten a Sonic game after heroes, my friend let me hold Shadow the Hedgehog, and I couldn't get pass the first level. and I got StH:2006 for cheap at gamestop back in 2008, and couldn't get past the first level.

Terrible games, I never really liked the 2D Sonics, I would much rather they analyze what was right with Adventure 1 and 2, and build off of that. Preferably a Sonic Adventure 3 for Wii, or 360(because those are the only controllers I'd play it on). I was more of a Mario guy, so back then when I had Genesis, and Sonic 1 and 2, and didn't much care for them at all.

That's a good question. Sooner or later they're going to get in trouble or get the game delayed.

They've already leaked 3 of the levels.

Having gone back and playing Sonic 1,2,3 and Knuckles though the Sega Genesis Ultimate Collection, I'm a bit more hyped for Sonic 4. I want to see full gameplay and a demo if possible before making a purchase.

I'll stand by my statement that at least 1 month before launch, Big the cat and all of Sonics other high-pitched, annoying friends will be announced to be in the game.

You do notice sega's not doing that for this game.

We all know Sonic is fine when it comes to 2D. The Sonic Advance games and the Sonic Rush games are great its just 3D that is hit or miss. TheColbert

Sonic has become the "Great Pumpkin" of video games. I hope that this will be the start of a turnaround, but I'm not too confident.

That's what Robotnik is called in Japan, where Sonic was made.

Here's all 3 stages for both Splash Hill Zone and Lost Labyrinth. Act 2 on Labyrinth looks annoying as hell, but it could be because this guy sucks. Overall I'd say this is DEFINITELY a step in the right direction, but the bosses do seem rather easy, and I want some more spin dash incorporation, as well as the lightning, fire, and bubble powerups.

1) less painful whining/raging by people with sonic avatars on msgboards about how reviewers are inherently biased against sonic

2) too much boasting by people with sonic avatars on msgboards about how sonic is back, the franchise isnt garbage, you must like sonic now, etc.

This the way I look at it is that the only way to be "happy" or probably a better word, "satisfied", is to throw your previous expectations out the window. I look at Sonic in the same way I do my 49ers. They were the greatest franchise in all of professional sports, but now are a jokefest that hasn't even made the playoffs for 7 years. Fans would be content with just winning the division or making the playoffs, while back in the day it was Super Bowl or bust. Sonic was the same way. It was THE greatest video game franchise at the time (just look at this), but his games and Sonic Team haven't done anything right since the release of Saturn. If you accept that Sonic Team and Dimps are ran by brain dead monkeys, it will be so much easier to enjoy this new game. It won't be as good as the originals, but it will probably be a good game, and really that's all I'm looking for at this point. I don't expect anything jaw dropping or revolutionary like in the old days, but I expect a game at least similar to the c-lassics. So far it's looking that way.

I really hope this game turns out well but until the finish product is out, I will remain skeptical.

As for the Sonic fanbase, they are mostly cool and levelheaded here on GS. However, outside GS, specifically youtube, they are argueably the worst fanbase for any videogame.

But I still love the Genesis/CD titles and thought the Adventure series was good for it's time.

It's looking pretty good so far, but I sincerely hope they don't leave that homing attack spam in the final version, it looks like a potential game breaker.
