It's dead It's been eight years, five since we last saw anything of the game (which was a concept trailer). We've never seen in game footage, Sony hasn't acknowledged the game at a public stage since late 2010, if in spite of all of this, the game somehow is still in development, it is nothing like what we saw, it's probably been retooled beyond recognition, meaning it's not the game we were all hyped for to begin with.

To be fair, The Last Guardian was still in development since the PS3 arrival and now it's 2015, Sony might as well just scrap it and move on.

Its for the best. Entire generations of gamers have come and gone and this game was still talked about like its the holy grail. Maybe now they can admit that Team Ico have done nothing but drain money out of Sony's empty wallet and close that studio.

This doesn't mean anything, The Last Guardian trademark was also abandoned in 2012. The game is in active development with a re-reveal at E3 being very likely.

I reserved ICO. I bought it on reading excellent previews from overseas and playing the ICO demo from Playstation Underground (back then kids we had demo discs that came in our magazines, AND WE LIKED IT!). I had a brand new PS2 and I was aching to take it out for a spin with new IPs (especially games that were cross gen!). I reserved Shadow of the Colossus which ended up releasing in 2005. I have been a Team ICO fan since 2001!

I got prepared for this loss years ago and while I'm slightly depressed, there is a part of me that feels a sense of contentment sweep over me. I can finally get closure and not hold onto a glimmer of hope this game will ever release. It's an odd way to find out disappointing news however I'm glad that tingle of hope I have is finally put to rest...

Second time? It's some sort of bureaucratic oversight? Dang! Small tingle of hope re-activated. Maybe they want to change the name? Bah, I won't invest too much energy to this vaporware in the meantime. :P
