Sony as a developer is pretty overrated.

But it seems more appropriate for Sony currently, which is why I said it.

M$ lost mostly all of its exclusives to PC

Didn't know you could play UC4 on PC

$ony lost mostly all of its exclusives to PS Pro as of November 10th, and mostly all of it's PS3 exclusives to PC.

But PS Pro and PS4 are the same thing

But Xbox One and PC are the same thing

Yes,exactly the same

It's hard to compare, Sony has owned studios that make their first party games. I really don't think Sony themselves develop and publish anything inhouse.

But Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Ape Escape, God of War, StarHawk, Socom, Gran Turismo are all great franchises with some great games in them. And that's just off the top of my head.

Actually and surprisingly for some, Sony does develop in-house besides the owned studios that also make 1st party games.

Here's a small sampling of in-house Sony games I posted earlier in the thread that you probably missed:

  1. Gran Turismo 1-4,
  2. Puppeteer,
  3. Everquest,
  4. God of War 1-3,
  5. Siren,
  6. Twisted Metal Black,
  7. Shadow of the Colossus,
  8. Legend of Dragoon,
  9. Singstar series,
  10. ICO,
  11. Ape Escape 1-3,
  12. War of the Monsters,
  13. Planetside 1-2,
  14. MLB: The Show SERIES and more above should be looked at as well.

@SolidTy: I see, I didn't realize those were Sony inhouse developed. That is a pretty solid list of games, I really don't agree with the TC's argument. I think Sony has a great first party, even better when there are 2nd party games included.

I don't think they are good as nintendo, but they aren't bad.

@R4gn4r0k: motorstorm apocalypse came out 3 years after motorstorm pacific rift yet looked and played worse. I don't know if it was the talent or lack of resources but something bad happened. And that game sold horribly.

I guess I don't blame Sony for closing them. First they embarrassed them by delaying the game from being a launch title to an entire year later. Then when they do release it the game doesn't even work online. Embarrassing for Sony and the PS brand. Can't make your boss look like shit and make it to another day.

A next gen PS4 Motorstorm would be nice. Or a next gen Jet Moto. Or Twisted Metal. Or Socom. Too bad these things will never happen

@jcrame10: Yeah we could blame Sony. But in fact they got another chance after Apocalypse and made a few more games.

A lot of big publishers would just close a studio after one flop. But it seems Sony is not like that, which is good, because firing a bunch of talented people after one misstep (or the market not reacting to what they created) seems like a waste of talent.

I didn't know people rate them highly as developers..

But yeah, compared to other devs they really suck.

In terms of first-party development:

Tier 1: Sega, Nintendo

Tier 2: Atari, SNK, Sony

Tier 3: Hudson Soft, Microsoft

God of War, Little Big Planet, Killzone, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, etc, off the top of my head.

TC your opinion is without basis.
