Sony have officially adopted the system wars tactic of the add-ons list. :lol: They even go with the 360 arcade and then add-on all the stuff you could just get with the pro. Ninja-Hippo

And where is the add-on to make the PS3 lineup as big and diverse as the 360 one! And the other one that makes the multiplats look as good on the PS3 as they look on the 360???

A $199 360 is enough to play the most superior lineup of this gen! This is the most important thing imo

its good business to give more variety in accessories so theres more revenue.

But if all u want to do is play and save games, then the Arcade is all you need.....half the cost of a PS3.

The thing that Sony doesn't seem to understand is that value is relative.

I agree with you that you get more for $400 by buying the PS3 than you do with the Xbox 360 but not everyone thinks like us. That's Sony's problem. Every time they talk about the PS3's price, they always seem to think consumers will automatically conform to their definition of value instead of trying to adapt to what the consumers want.

See the problem is sales numbers and trends as of recent would clearly indicate that Sony is 100% wrong with their hilarious assumption. Then you get the damage control but but teh misinformed masses only buy 360!

Yeah well 50% of the current gen gaming market share is owned by the Wii. So hear I'm supposed to believe that PS3 fans are the only educated gamers out of all three. Sorry I'm not buying that.

Its about time Sony took a jab at Microsoft, I mean MS has been doing it every month! PS3 is a much better value for money then 360 and as far as games are concerned 360 fanboys always bring up the fact that 360 has much more and diverse games like they believe the average consumer plan on buying ever single game for the platform :lol: PS3 has enough quality titles to warrent a purchase easily and the fact that you get hard drive as standard, blu-ray player, free online and a solid reliable hardware, I dont see why 360 is the best choice like the lemmings claim.Swift_Boss_A

Why didn't Sony take a full on right hook? This is the same jab they threw last year and as we can all see it didn't phase MS in the slightest. Recent sales have shown that the consumers obvioulsy don't have the same ideals that Sony has with the PS3 and its value. By not coming up with anything new this is just as equally embarassing as the last time they did this.

Um the people here in SW aren't the average consumer and what does it matter if someone buys every game on the platform? All that should matter is that there are good games available for the platform or heck any other platform. You can't just downplay a platforms games in claims that not every consumer is going to buy them. Games just don't evaporate and their are plenty of good games that are made that don't even sell well.

Check out some recent sales charts on hardware and software sales. That gives an idea on why people think X platform is a better choice over Y platform.

I wouldn't call it a low blow, just a half-hearted effort at doing something that they should have been doing a loooong time ago. It's still the same weak ass snipes from PR people instead of putting it where it counts..In the marketing. This kind of thing is just pathetic when anybody does it...Especially this far in the cycle.

It's the same problem with the PSP, nobody knows exactly why it exists or what it actually does. We all know it's more powerful than a DS and it's pretty, but why should you want one over the competitions product? Sony's marketing has done a horrible injustice to 2 fine pieces of hardware. On top of that, the actual focus of these products is non existent.

You would think after a few years of being last place, you would develop a "new" strategy.

In this economy, Price is king. It's sad, but the reality we live in. And while I'm all for educating consumers to make a more solid purchase, this isn't the economy and gaming isn't as simple as what features a system has.

The problem is that VALUE is subjective. If the consumer doesn't need or want that stuff then it has no value to that consumer, thus you're paying more for nothing. This is what Sony doesn't understand. If all those add-ons had any value to the consumer then Wii wouldn't be stomping all over the competition this gen.

It hasn't worked before, dressing it up new won't make her any prettier. Screw the bigger HDDs they keep coming out with. 40GB model for $299. 80(or whatever)GB with BC for $349. That and good marketing is what Sony needs. The Bluray feature is losing it's value quickly. I'll be selling a Samsung Bluray Player for $149.99 in the coming weeks. Prices are dropping like flies for standalone units.

You're right though. They are currently like Homer, stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I was simply stating what Sony needed to do inorder to move hardware compared to their competitors. And that their list of features grows weaker as time goes on.

A revolutionary new feature or.... Add on(gasp) might be able to help them.
