Well, we know that InFamous helped PS4 hardware sales jump by 106 per cent week-on-week [on top of a 72% sales increase the week before]. Titanfall, meanwhile, helped Xbox One to a 96 per cent sales boost.

MCV has also been told by a trusted retail source that Titanfall sold just under double the amount of units its first week than InFamous managed in its debut week, although of course Titanfall sales fell around 75 per cent in its second week leaving it behind both Sony's game and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

Cool.

MS did an official price cut in Feb, 11 days before Titanfall release: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-one-price-cut-to-ps399-99-in-the-uk-from-this-friday/1100-6417929/

They also bundled TF free with Titanfall Xbone bundle at the new slashed price.

Thanks for the article. Google required far too much phrasing.

I noticed the TF bundle at $500, though it's not an official price cut -- likely after the TF bundle, it will stay at $500.

So basically you are prove wrong and you are to bitter to amid it,it didn't get a price drop in US because it sell well there,in UK it was bombing,so MS slashed 30 pound and included a new hot free game that was 43 pound that is basically a 73 pound drop relative to what early adopters pay for the xbox one + what they pay for titanfall.

In US alto they did not drop the price the game is been given free a $60 dollar game,so the xbox one is just $40 dollars more than a PS4 with infamous.

This month has seen both next-gen consoles finally get their hands on a big exclusive, but what do the arrivals of Titanfall and InFamous: Second Son reveal?

Well, we know that InFamous helped PS4 hardware sales jump by 106 per cent week-on-week.

MCV can also reveal that around one in four UK Xbox One owners purchased Titanfall. Meanwhile, around one in nine PS4 owners acquired InFamous: Second Son.

None of this takes digital purchases directly from Microsoft and Sony into account, however.

It’s easy to argue that really InFamous and Titanfall are sufficiently different in theme and potential reach so as to render such comparisons meaningless. However, it’s just as easy to argue that at a time when hundreds of thousands of consumers are desperate to get their hands on new games for their still new gaming hardware, the performance of these early titles is telling.

Thank you for validating my argument..

MCV can also reveal that around one in four UK Xbox One owners purchased Titanfall. Meanwhile, around one in nine PS4 owners acquired InFamous: Second Son.

Thank you because i told you that most xbox one owner were going after Titanfall while PS4 owners were not going all for just Infamous the fact that on that chart MGS5 is 2 and beating Titanfall the same week Infamous hit prove so,it was very easy to read, meanwhile MGS5 sold like 3 to 1 vs the xbox one version.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2014/videogames

It doesn't lie the only 2 games on Amazon top 100 of 2014 are Ghost and Titanfall for the xbox one,not even Fifa made it into the top 100 funny enough the PS4 has 11 games on that same list including MGS5 and Infamous at 13 and 14 spot Titanfall is at 6,so yeah Titanfall sold great because xbox one fans decided to not get anything else basically, and while games like Tomb Raider are charting on PS4 on on amazon on xbox one they are missing in action.

again with the amazon links. Man get over it, Titanfall sold more copies than infamous and MGS combined.

maybe the reason XBox gamers (like me) haven't been buying everything is that we are satisfied with enough games to play already, since the releases on xbox one are better.

Titanfall just couldn't be ignored though and sold almost double that of infamous within it's first week.

Nice way to own your self, you post info which you want to invalidate..hahaha

Fact is lemming went for Titanfall and pretty much nothing else,PS4 owners went in all direction and is proven even by your own links..hahaha

Is 3rd party first person shooter is no better than Ghost selling better than Infamous or MGS5,so keep cheering for those multiplatforms..lol

lol please score wise all xbox one exclusives flopped where only Forza got carry was here, all of them at gameranking are under 80,and on meta basically as well.

Yes and is a FPS which tent to sell better than 3rd person games, and on a platform with a love for FPS,did i forget to mention hyped as the second coming of Christ,.? lol

Still waiting on MS to come clean with Titanfall sales numbers and they haven't 2 weeks since launch and we have no official numbers from MS,boy that damage control PR most be harder than any other to take this long...lol

And did PS4 exclusives did any better?

Knack flopping hard, KZ:SF flopping while cows still "safely" hyped it as AA

Infamous barely getting a 80 on MC,worst in the franchise

Seriously? You lot buy any old shit. Ryse, Kinect Sports Rivals, a slaughtered Halo franchise. I'd list more but MS has released **** all pre-Xbone since 2010.

Only SCE games I bought last year were TLOU and Tearaway and they were better than every exclusive released on the Xbone so far.

I'm not a 40-year old individual with a crush on a piece of plastic, so engrossing, that you can't even comprehend that I thanked I_can_haz. So, if you please, do one.

Like I said before I hate percentages without a number to base them on LOL

Lets assume Titanfall sold 500K in it's debut week. That would mean IF:SS sold approx 250k in it's debut week

If Titanfall fell 75% from week one, using the pretend numbers above, they still sold another 125k units bringing their total in two weeks to 625,000 units sold (312,500 units per week average)

Lets assume Titanfall stopped selling after week two - Infamous would need their week one sales to continue for 10.5 days after week one (17.5 days total sales) to match Titanfall's 14 day sales numbers

Those are UK sales we don't know world wide, but we can only guess how bad Titanfall sales were, and i am sure that MS will account bundle copies as sold which will be a joke, just like sony with Knack in Japan, the game has been given free so if MS sold 300k xbox one in US that is 300K titanfall that MS will claim alone side sold apart units when the game was given free.

I don't know how long its legs will be but as of now on amazon US is not on the top 20 is fell to 32 spot the bundle is on the top 10 how ever, behind Infamous stand alone and the PS4 stand alone.

In amazon UK is on spot 7 while Infamous continue on spot one,and is the titanfall bundle what dropped out of the top 10,to spot 33,while Infamous bundle is at spot 14 and the PS4 stand alone is at spot 11.

It has more than 2 weeks of sales and we have no official sales number for the first week,it is obvious it didn't sold as planned.

Your logic is flawed. If Titanfall sales were "bad" then Infamous were worse.

However the "almost double" sales of Titanfall in it's first week versus the sales of Infamous:SS in its first week were retail copies and not digital download.

Some people probably bought the console with the DD code (so I guess TF is a system seller ) I bought the DD code and I already own the XB1 (I prefer digital)

Also, not all companies release game sales weekly (not many do). (I have not seen any Infamous sales numbers either, why are you not criticising them?).

edit: and up to your tricks of using Amazon's hourly sales??? Citing ONE retailer is extremely LAME

First of all prove to me that Infamous 1 and 2 sold 4 or 5 million copies each, because that is the only way its sales could be consider bad,1 million pre-orders is quite allot for Infamous SS considering the PS4 is 3 months old,and considering Infamous is not a very popular game to begin with.

How can titanfall be a system seller when it been given free and with a price drop.?

A system seller is a game that sell for full price and make people get the console regardless, almost 400K PS4 were sold in Japan with Knack i guess that make Knack and system seller.lol

The bundle is been offer for 70+ pounds less in UK that the xbox one would cost you at the beginning of February so off course people will go for it,it wasn't TF per say it was a free game + price drop, they could have included a crappy game and a price drop and still would have sell, when there is a price drop sales jump.

And they should but then again Infamous didn't cost sony half a billion in advertising, nor has been piggy back ride by journalist since E3 as the best thing since slice bread.

MS does have a tendency to ride sales,it does it with all its successful game, and it take 1 day not 2+ weeks or more, sony on the other hand is not that open with numbers, find me sony hyping Infamous sales 1 day after launch by sony, because i can show you MS gloating Halo sales 1 day after the game release.

Denying that TF has cost MS a ton of cash in advertising is a joke, another joke is pretending that this game carry the same hype as Infamous they are not even close,TF has been hype here to be the be all end all of FPS,Infamous is just another sequel,TF should be selling xbox one by the ton, because it was advertise as the greatest thing ever, and you lemming call it a system seller, now system seller games are not given for free on launch that is a joke,Halo wasn't and was property of MS.

Oh please go and use the 2014 one it show the same the PS4 on top of the xbox one.

Go to gamestop and you will see the same.

http://www.gamestop.com/browse

TF show be selling units by the ton even more when is free, system seller aren't given free.

Want me to tell you what i think happen with Titanfall.?

MS and EA had a clause probably for certain numbers of copies that need it to be sold in order for the game to stay on the xbox one this time, when this deal was done EA and MS were sure that MS would beat sony, and EA already admit that the make a wrong calculation, now the game sold average probably and MS after putting so much money into advertising the game had no choice but to bundle the game free and pay EA for it,TF is costing MS a fortune between advertisement and the free copies, there is no point in claiming that the xbox one is selling at record breaking pace, only out of desperation to bundle your best and most hyped game,no sense what so ever and MS didn't do that ever not even when the PS2 was destroying the original xbox.

Yeah i am butthurt about a game that is not even exclusive which failed to grab scores in relation to how it was hype and that it had to be given free because the xbox one and the game were bombing sales wise..lol

Face it TF with all the hype it go will probably go down in history as one of the biggest blunder and flops in gaming history this game should be moving consoles and selling like GTA because well it was even more hyped than GTA5 was and you can't deny that.lol

Cool.

LOL what?

TF sold closer to 120,000 in the UK on launch week. Wind your neck in.

even if that is true, his maths is still good.....untwist your knickers

120,000 is smaller than 500,000

There's a lot of variables, but let's assume that TF continues its plummet next month, a 50% drop. That's 15,000 copies sold. That's 165,000 copies sold. Another variable: Infamous drops off at around the same rate as most games so far this year, about 30%. That's 43,400 second week. 25% drop the next week because of an improving stock situation, 32,550 in the third week. 137,950 over three weeks. Not bad with the game no one cares about compared to the game changer, the most anticipated game of the year. Similar trend continues and Infamous has surpassed it in about five-six weeks. Wow!

Just a variable, of course. :)

Like I said.. made up numbers just to get a ratio. Assuming your numbers are correct (who knows), Infamous would still need to sell at the same daily pace as week one for 17.5 days to match Titanfall's 14 days sales. Whether the number TF sold is 120k or just 100 the ratios are the same, that was my point.

FYI The numbers the previous article gave of 'almost double' were just how much the XB1 version sold in comparison to Infamous

edit: and if Titanfall was selling as poorly as You and Tormentos are saying, why would they already be talking a second game???

Yeah, 120,000 based on 60,000 FIFA 14 copies sold in W1. Regardless, it's sort of pointless predicting future sales trends considering how many variables there are.

EA was talking rotating Battlefield and MOH long before Warfighter flopped, it's what they do.

Hey @tormentos instead of using the hourly charts from Amazon UK why not use the ones for 2014??? (even though it is kinda stupid to use one retailer to say that a game is selling well or poorly)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/2014/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsar (AMAZON UK)

LAMO, really? Its the first game of a new franchise, will likely push around 1 million game sales across the One in a month and has reviewed very well. MS will likely win NPD and UK for the month of March, and all of this without any launch day DLC. The hype came from gamers and journalists. Reviews validated the hype. Titanfall has done exactly what MS intended. Its been one freaking month for crying pout loud. A brand new franchise on 3 systems that will move over a million sales in its first month is a success as GTS 1, CoD 1, and Battlefield 1 did not do that. Titanfall met the hype with reviews and first month sales. Only Cows hyped it to sell millions in the first month. The game will likely move 1 million units on the One in the month of March, likely sell around 450 to 600 thousand systems, and be supported by Respawn all year long with new maps and modes. Titanfall was worth the money spent by MS.
