Too bad MS doesn't have commitment over free online gaming.

my point is that sony backtracked from rumble is bad and 'last gen' to rumble is great we love it on the dual shock 3

Wow lets not talk about backtracking...... How about Microsoft, in the 360's lifespan theyve added HDMI, an HD-DVD Addon, 1080p Support and 3-year warranties along the way after denying all their consoles are faulty for so long.....

lol @ him for trying to make those things sound bad

What?! where are these games?! cause i wanna play them i own an hd dvd addon! where are the hd dvd gameS? oh i know microsoft said an NEXT GEN Format wasn't needed for games and instead made an addon that played movies and not games, hd dvd movies lost the war! not hd dvd games because there never was HD DVD games.

Sry but sony holds the crown this gen and last gen for most broken promises and most stupid statements sony this gen has said some of the stupidest things and then totally been owned later when it was proven wrong, among them the whole entire mockup of the ps3 console back in 2005-6 and thus changing it cause it would cost the consumer 1000 dollars, that its a computer, that is a super computer, 120fps 4d, rumble is last gen no one wants it, or translation we are currently geting are asses shreded in the courtroom by immersion and cannot figre out how to use rumble and the 2 week old motion sensing we shoehorned into the controller to compete with the wii.

here and there microsoft might have said something stupid, But i've yet to see them proved wrong that a next gen format is needed this generation i've yet to see a game rival the 360's games on the ps3, MGS4 is proven only needing 50+ gigs cause every thing in it is uncompressed, textures, sound EVERY THING is uncompressed in that game.

Would you? Have you seen committment on any other MS products in the past? Do you get committment when you buy Windows or Office??

They did to Xbox owners the same they do with all their products. Either way there is no way X360 will see 100 million. And Sony has supported PSOne, PS2, and even continued to support and never gave up on PSP and look at it now.

They definitely do. Only problem is they take so long to do everything. I've got the feeling everything is just building up for this fall to be a mega awesome rebirth of PS3.

Release dates for PS2 games

Amazing that, so long after the next gen consoles have been released, the PS2 is still being sold, produced and having games made for it despite its already massive array of titles on sale. It's even getting Mercenaries 2.

Your arguing for and against respective corperations to what ends? Nothing except making a fanboy out of yourself. PS2 still makes Sony ALOT of money, why the heck would they drop it?

yep i did. I used windows 95 and that survived 10 years all most pople were still using it towards the end of windows 98's life windows 95 was supported standard for 5-6 years, after that it was just support then support was dropped after what 7-8 years? 98 the same, 2000 the same, xp the same. you talk about commitment well i highly doubt if microsoft didn't have a good product and was commited to making it excellent they would have 95% of the PC OS market. but hey microsoft brain washes the world into using its OS right? they manage to do that? couldnt they brain wash us and take over? bill gates could have been world dictator within a week with the amazing powers of microsoft.

No microsoft stays commited to its products, its not like they stopped servicing, fixing...ect when they stopped producing they continue to fix, and service original xbox's to this DAY!

Sony and commitment?? Thats a funny connection. How many of those games are published by Sony...........ummm.... thats right ZERO!! Sony has long moved on. It isn't making any games for the PS2...... only for the PS3.

The list above is an example of how economics work. PS2 continues to sell, hence there will be a few developers that will make games for it. When ppl. stop buying the console, developers will stop making the games.

Finally, Sony will continue to keep the product on the market as long as it sells. It will be pulled off shelves when it ceases to sell. Sony has nothing to do with it. Every company does the same thing.

What Sony lacks is true commitment. What happened to the rumble fiasco? How about the removal of the emotion chip? What about forcing you to buy a new controller (for rumble). And then those massive price cuts of $200 within the year?? I'm sure the early adopters felt screwed......... I know I did!! Sony doesn't know the meaning of commitment. Looks like they got you brainwashed kid. An economics course may be in order.

[QUOTE="MegaPigeon"]Sony are still releasing games for the PS2 because it still produces money. MS have killed off the Xbox because if they continued producing stuff for it the 360 would be lacking the support it currently has and would be costing MS money. It's not "commitment" or a lack of it, it's basic buisness practice.HuusAsking
No, the big reason was because the old XBox was a money sink--impossible to put in the black. The 360 is currently in the black.

Percisely what I meant :)

I'm not talking about patches, go and try to find a machine with XP on it right now at your local retailer. Pretty hard to find one isn't it? The only reason there are even a few with XP on them is because businesses decided to stop buying new PCs and MS caved in. People do not want Vista, it's not because hardware manufacturers want it. I sell software for a living I know MS far better than you do. So check before you talk. Oh well enjoy your X360 while it lasts or MS supports it, some people have to learn the hard way.

Tragic_Kingdom7

Mark my words: once the next Microsoft console comes out, they will ditch the 360 as fast as they can.

No, they won't.

People don't seem to understand that the reason they ditched the original Xbox was because they were stuck in a truly horrible deal with nVidia for the GPU. They were basically buying GPUs wholesale from nVidia, and nVidia was artificially keeping prices high because they knew Microsoft couldn't go anywhere else. The Xbox business was unsustainable under those conditions, and Microsoft wisely got out.

With Xbox 360, Microsoft owns all of the technology powering it. They aren't buying the chips from anyone; they are merely paying for them to be fabricated. Xbox 360 is profitable now, and will continue to be profitable for a long time to come. Microsoft will continue to make them and support them for as long as it is profitable.

your statement is totally contridictory and false...buisnesses stopped buying new pcs? lol wow so how many buisnesses have gone out of buisness? because thats what happens to a company that doesn't expand...and thats what happens when you dont buy new pc's and you dont sell software for a living dont lie, the day you sell software for a living is the day the geek squad at bestbuy can make the same claim, if there is no pcs with xp installed in the retail market..and yet buisness like dell aren't using vista..then aren't they using xp? so that would be contridictory to the statement of not finding xp machines in retail.

It is easy to find new pc's retail with windows XP preinstalled people dont want vista? lol ok then i guess its selling 0 units then and no ones buying it, I love cows like you whom make statements well the 360 isn't selling at all in japan...what you mean its selling 0 units? because thats what not selling means it means 0 units if its selling just 1 unit then its selling no matter the words you use, If people dont want vista then i guess it must be selling 0 units right? oh you mean it is selling? wow that must mean people want it.

P.S: I just called wal-mart and the pc's they have for sale come with xp installed not vista..

XP is not hard to find. the PC's with it preinstalled have gotten harder to find but they are still out there. the actual XP OS is available just about everywhere.

go find an older model sony tv camera 5 years after it was released and after the new model is released.

[QUOTE="donwoogie"][QUOTE="taker42"]True, but you aren't seeing all that millions of "loyal Sony customers" jumping ship now, are you? I do not doubt the PS3 will sell once it gets the big games under its belt, but my point is, will it be too little, too late?taker42

How is it a litle too late? The PS3 is beating the Xbox 360 on sales.

Barely. Not exactly the millions I mentioned. And I was not talking about the 360 anyway. Most of PS2 buyers are definitely casuals. I cannot imagine millions of hardcore cows running about. And the Wii has them square in its sights. Heck MS tried too with that Viva Pinata thing.

The hardcore JRPG set is still firmly on PS2s.

Eh? That's a tiny list of games, and most of them will probably be canceled... I don't doubt that the PS2 lasted much longer than its competitors, but that list is shorter than the list of upcoming GC games was in 2007... :|

MS had to move on quickly from the xbox so they could get ahead of the competition and not have the same mistakes they did last gen with little variety of games. The original xbox still was awsome though.

i agree that's awesome, but the reason they're doing it is not commitment. it's money. ps2 brings in way more revenue than the ps3 probably ever will.

xbox brought in close to nothing so microsoft killed it off.

For real man, not to mention PSP is selling well.

Ya know I've never really thought about it but it must really suck for all the Sony haters to see the PSP, PS2, and PS3 doing so well. That's a fact. Sony is still a dominant force, and will continue to do so. To say they only have one system that is "still selling" is complete nonsense.

Back to the topic, yeah, Sony shows commitment to the fanbase. If Sony is only supporting the PS2 because it's still making them money... then why is it that they just dropped PS1 support a little over a year ago? You cant tell me they were still making the jack off the PS1. Sony supports it's systems, and Nintendo and MS should do the same.

P.S: I just called wal-mart and the pc's they have for sale come with xp installed not vista..

ahahah..you need to calm down and not be so techical, big deal if MS sells 1 in Japan thats nothing compared to Wii and PS3

Release dates for PS2 games

Amazing that, so long after the next gen consoles have been released, the PS2 is still being sold, produced and having games made for it despite its already massive array of titles on sale. It's even getting Mercenaries 2.

/me looks at Xbox dust catching on shelf above computer................

I wander if the Xbox 360 will get the same treatment..............

As impressive as that is, and it is. I'm onto bigger and better things now, and dont really care about getting anymore last gen games.

Ha. It just happened that game was a launch title for the Wii too. If nothing else, Nintendo hasnt put anything else on the GC since the Wii came out... yet Sony has for the PS2 since the PS3 has been out. So what's your point?

Is it really a big deal that Sony Backtracked from Rumble not necessary to now its needed? Tehy lsitened to their fanbase. The fanbase wanted rumble and they gave it to them. black_awpN1
That's a load of BS. Sony couldn't use it because of a lawsuit and then made up the 'it was so last gen' bunk. They don't care about there fanbase because they can poop in boxes, stamp the name Playstation on it and most of Europe will trample over each other to buy it...

first of all does it really matter that it launched for Wii? we are talking about GC support and it was supported, plain and simple.

second of all my point is it's not sony that's supporting the PS2... it's third parties.

Ok then. Nintendo hasnt shown the Gamecube any support since what? November 2006? Ok. It's April 2008. And the PS2 is still getting support from Sony. Do you have a point here?

For some of the fanbase, that's absolutely true. It's prevalent in the US as well - at least, amongst the hardcore Sony fans (The same ones who still tell themselves that the PS2 was the most powerful console last generation).

You have no idea what you're talking about. MLB 08 just came out a month ago. Nice.

A lot more. I don't know how people is satisfied with a 3 year warranty, when the problem asks for a total recall and system redesign. Also, how could they accept that they're first Xbox was discontinued so early?

Yea, that Sonys commitment to the consumer explains why it took them 5 years and a lost lawsuit to fix their hardware problems, but I know, we only mention last gen when it pertains to sales...

It didnt take Sony 5 years to fix the hardware problems. Quit trying to make the PS2 sound like it was as bad as the 360. Sure, it was bad, but no where near the 360. The RROD is part of the 360 experince. It's not rare to read people who claim to have had 2, 3, 4, 5 360's. I'm on my third right now. But you wont beleive that, because I'm a "fanboy".
