seriously. i have gotten 3 to 4 ps1s(most recent can barely read a game) 2 PSOnes (one still in use), 3 PS2s(one water, one power, one still in use) and now technically 2 ps3s(1 BR player, now the YLOD). how many do you want to know of other companies?
1 snes, 2 n64, 1OG GB, 1 genesis, 1 DS 0 for everything else
sadly this
fanboys want this though but i never got it

Funny, I had one ps3 which works even now. I had PS2 for many years and sold it in perfect condition, no problems at all. I have had a ps3 for over two years, no problems at all. Now I sold it and got slim which works like a charm and is super quiet. You either had a really bad luck, didnt take care of your consoles, or are just trolling.
That doesnt mean anything. The article only shows than xbox had a terrible failure rate during the first year or so. If you put a system into a closed cabinet, you are just doing it wrong.I see that the 360's reliability is once again under attack by ignorant posters here in System Wars!

[QUOTE="nintendo-4life"]Your blaming Sony for spilling water on your PS2? :|bigM10231no but it happened to another console of mine and it still worked
That's definitely a standard, everyone has their own standards.
Perhaps, it's a standard I should live by. :P
I spilled some water on my Girlfriend's lap, and she left me!
Yet, True Story, when I spilled water on my buddies lap, he stayed my friend. :o
There is no imo about it. The 360 has higher failure rates then the PS3. The PS3 has higher failure rates then the Wii.
'Imo the PS3 has sold more then the 360.' Just because you say imo doesn't mean you can say anything. It just doesn't work like that.

so what you saying is he cant have an opinion
My PS2 and 360 both broke once. Nintendo are the only reliable ones.locopathoi agree with this,i have never had a nintendo fail on me, i even dropped my gamecube a good 4ft to a concrete floor and apart from a tiny chunk of plastic missing at the front (right above the little ATI sticker) and it still worked like a charm, in my life i have had various other consoles fail on me 3 Ps1's, 5 zx spectrums,3 commodore 64's, 2 atari ST's,1 amiga a600, 1 megadrive ,2 dreamcasts,1 atari jaguar and 3 xbox 360's, both my original xbox's still work flawlessly, my wifes Ps2 slim has been going strong for 4 years but her Ps3 i had to replace 2 months after i bought it for her cos the blu-ray drive died (40gb model) it's all very well people on here saying to take care of yoyr stuff but it doesn't always work that way, Gaming is my core hobby, i am OCD when it comes to taking care of my hardware, my consoles get cleaned every week without fail, i use canned air to clear the dust out from inside them and i always put them where they cannot be knocked with plenty of ventilation, these consoles are only as good and reliable as the people that make them in the factorys, this is why people recommend that if you buy a 360 you try and buy one manufactured by the FDOU team, they have less chance of red ring of death.
[QUOTE="Brownesque"]You spilled water on your Playstation. What, are you gonna blame the Playstation?no. the water spill wasnt my fault and i wasnt drinking it But the water got in the system so it isnt Sony"s fault. Consoles arent waterproof so I dont know what you are trying to accomplish here.[QUOTE="bigM10231"]why are people thinking its my fault? i obviously proved it wasnt my faultbigM10231
The original XBOX and 360 are the only systems that have ever died on me in 20 years of gaming.tomarlynThe first Xbox was actually a very reliable console. So wow if that was your first console to die on you.

So wow if that was your first console to die on you. when somebody says the only consoles that ever broke on them where microsoft ones it sounds fishy to me, especially when the original xbox was a very, very reliable console, i know i have 2 that still work and the kids have one of them, they have kicked it, dropped it, spilt juice on it, not so much as a DRE,i think he's trying to imply that only MS make unreliable consoles, lol

Actually, I had two Xbox's go bad last generation, they were brand new. I got two Halo Model replacements around that time.
Furthermore, my buddy owns quite a few repair shops and has repaired Xbox, PS2's, 360's, you name it. Both my Xbox's died said the same error message :
"Please insert an xbox disc", it was really odd.
I also had a PS2 with DRE, and I had a broken NES that just stopped working one day.
I've never had a problem with SNES, SMS, Intellivision, Genesis, PSOne's, Dreamcasts, Wii, Gamecube's, or PS3. All my handhelds are still fine as well. PS3 with DRE sucked, but the worst for me by far was this generation's RROD. When you factor in the crippling nature of RROD, and how small the 360 install base is, it really is a shame they rushed out the machine. My first RROD I though perhaps I was unlucky, but RROD two, everyone I knew in RL had at least one RROD by that point, and news was getting out there.
I even had a Halo 3 360 E74 on me, and that had some new parts.
I have had three RROD's this generation, and one E74. I was the one that broke the news about E74 to SW actually, with many never heard of it when I made the thread. Kind of a fun read looking back.
History records these things, but RROD is the worst I've suffered as a gamer all these years.
My two 60gig PS3's are still functional as is my one 2006 launch Wii. :P Though, I'm at year 4, so if they do go bad, I feel I got my monies worth. I actually bought 8 PS3's at PS3 launch for Family, cousin's, and Friends, and those models are function as well. I heard the slim models for both 360 and PS3 are even more reliable, but they are newer so who knows.
Sony has a poor history with console quality, but no problem has ever been as widespread or as famous as the 360's 3 red lights. At least MS ended up extending the warranty, but you can be your ass that was due to the negative press they were getting. Stupid really, the Xbox was a decent piece of hardware (though the dvd drive on mine gave up the ghost after 4 years).

You must of been the unlucky few. The xbox way more reliable almost on par with the cube. That lil thing was tough i remember g4 was it? I wasn't even going to post, since I've posted in these types of threads for 5+ years, and it's always the same. Damage control, arguing, whatever. I only wanted to back that other posters testimonial since he's not alone.
I can tell you with great assurance, No, I wasn't part of a few, many repairs shops made quite a living repairing these things, but yes, DRE was worse last gen. There was also 140 PS2's out there vs. 25 million Xbox's. I do remember that lulzy G4 segment, but that has nothing to do with consumer wear and tear.
I can say, I've owned 3 GC's, and they all work perfect.

unlucky, sounds like both you xbox's had dodgy thompson DVD rom drives in them, i heard those thompson drives could be a liilt hit or miss, lolThat's what I was told long ago. There were three manufacturers for DVD ROM, and one of them were terrible, I think it was Thompson, but that was so long ago, I don't even know anymore.
The fact you know about Thompson means you know about those dodgy drives, as those repairs shops did. That was their bread and butter. The worst part is the customer service, I got directed to India or somewhere, and I couldn't understand what they were asking, and I had to keep telling my issue over and over. That was the worst part, honestly. I spent 2 hours on the phone in a constant state of aggravation.
I've explained all this before on SW and other websites, but yeah, it's just one man's experience. For the record though, I bought multiple 360's at launch as well, and I kept two. I didn't expect RROD deal back in 2005. It probably didn't help that I actually played my machines 3-4 times a week.
I sincerely hope this isn't an issue at all next generation for any machine, any company. I just hope that this is a non issue next generation...although, I may not early adopt so quickly. :P

Yeah my original Xbox would sometimes get a disc read error and I even made a joke about it to my friends cause it was the console I took the most care of, never even moved it from it's place. As much as you post on here you expect us to believe you have all that hardware to play? Nice try but no.
If you include the previous gens, sure. The ps1 and 2 were extremely unreliable. I remember a lot of people had to orient the ps1 at some weird angle on its side to keep it from overheating.

I had to run mine upside down to get it to load games.

I had an old Xbox, 2 360s, and a Dreamcast all die.
Even though my PS1 had to be upside down, and I had to take apart my PS2 every couple of months and clean it they both still "worked". Same with my Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis (Sega CD broke though) Gamecube.....
"They don't build 'em like they used to"....
Granted stuff is a HELL of a lot more complex these day to even manufacture but still.....:(

If the Xbox 360's failure rate utterly blows the PS3's out of the water like everyone says then I must live in the twilight zone because I still have yet to have my Xbox 360 break down on me yet my week old PS3 is freezing up a storm.

Each gen there is one console that is gonna be totaly crap quality... Last 2 gens those were the PSs, but luckily Sony made the PS3 quite reliable. Still better then M$ that wen't from that tank of a conosole called the Xbox to the 360. The original Xbox i dropped down the stairs, played games for 14 hours non-stop (not joking, i finished Half Life 2 in a single sitting from 7 in the eavning when i started to about 11 in the evening the next day. I just took a few breaks for lunch and bathroom) etc. and it still works like a charm. Yesterday the 360 shut down (thank god i got the new slim) after i was doing my final lap on the Nurburgring R1 endurance race in Forza 3... That made me go insane...
thats like me saying oh....Rotosound are better cuz i got ernie ball strings and the broke stuff like this happens things break unexpectedly it could be a small thing likeitnot being used correctly, faulty from the get go (had a setstrings that were horrendously wound cause of a faulty core)you just forgive forget and get on with it.
none of my consoles ever messed up not even my dreamcast:p except about a month ago my ps3 stopped readingblu ray disksbut it was a launch system and i did play quite a bit....i sold the system for 300 bucks along with all my games and controllers and ps3 eye and bought a ps3 slim with black ops....problem solved
i had 2 ps3s and they both YLOD
they both the old models.
though sony takes features away from its own consoles.
they are the worse console maker in history
take off your fanboy goggles. taking away features off a console makes them the worse out of the big 3.

i personally based off your posting history highly and i mean highly doubt you ever owned a PS3....
Uber lol at this bolded part its minbendingly ironic.

you base fanboys on posting history?? what kind of logic is that?
ever thought why someone would hate a ps3?? maybe cause its just that bad.
seriously the logic in SW never fails to amuse me

that still doesn't make me a fanboy. im just neutral as anybody. you only notice me more than others so you have a bad impression.
That's silly to compare both games. Resistance is only 3-4 years old.[QUOTE="razgriz_101"]
[QUOTE="BIacckAce"] This is weird because Xbox fans have no problem touting Halo sales over Ps3 games that had less time to build up a fanbase also, like Resistance.
BIacckAce
its not silly. resistance is a copy cat of halo and the fact the games have died literally proves resistance series shud die out completely. With 3-4 years time you expect a halo copy cat to have lots of fans.
i rest my case Biacck ace.

if you check my reviewed games most are megamans which are from ds/gba so by that logic im a sheep now?? and i have a pokemon avatar
what did you prove?? its a opinion that resistance is a clone of halo. its been compared by other people too.
this is cowspot huh? so no one is allowed to have the same opinion or else im automatically fanboy. so in the 'what do you think is GOTY' thread everyone must say uncharted 2 right?

sure, but most of the time i've seen you post in here it tends to be in a topic related with the PS3 with some really bad grammar, stupid comments like the resistance/halo one.Maybe if you dindt spout comments like that and various others i wouldnt think you a fanboy.Besides a lot more of the time im playing games on the PC or a retro gamerbefore you try claiming im a cow lol.
Just saying maybe be a bit more sensible with your posts and not post silly stuff like that and people wont think your a fanboy man.
