never do this to your console :P

Yeah, that's one time where I would think that the RROD isn't Microsoft's fault. You have to give these systems room to breathe, no matter which one. It looks like it is in a bubble, quarantined away.

I've never had a console break on me. But that's probably gonna change if I get a 360.

Really? Why? Unless you purchase a older used one, like a 2007 model, or older, then u may have a issue, but the new slim is very reliable, and my 2008 HDMI equipped 360 has been going strong for the last 2 years. If you worried don't get one.

The first Xbox was actually a very reliable console. So wow if that was your first console to die on you.

It was a launch model, the kind with the faulty PSU that they had to release new power cords for.

when somebody says the only consoles that ever broke on them where microsoft ones it sounds fishy to me, especially when the original xbox was a very, very reliable console, i know i have 2 that still work and the kids have one of them, they have kicked it, dropped it, spilt juice on it, not so much as a DRE,i think he's trying to imply that only MS make unreliable consoles, lol

Well excuse me for calling that a steaming pile of BS.

There is no imo about it. The 360 has higher failure rates then the PS3. The PS3 has higher failure rates then the Wii.

'Imo the PS3 has sold more then the 360.' Just because you say imo doesn't mean you can say anything. It just doesn't work like that.

This and i have a 2 ps3's from 2007 and 2008 and both still work great.

That still isn't Sony's fault that you spilled water on it.

Yet the 360 is still the least reliable console of all time statistically.

Mine currently requires you to use a bank card to open the disk drive (which recently chewed my COD Black Ops up because of a slight knock to the desk). I personally thought it was very appropriate, it's more and more likely that I will be using that card to pay MS to take this thing and fix it. I think that MS lacks any sort of passion for quality tbh.

nope, that honour goes to the zx spectrum 48k the damn thing used an unregulated power supply if you didn't have it plugged into a surge protector and you got a big power surge it would fry, i solved this by getting my old man to build me a regulated power supply for my last one, stillonly lasted 3 years in the end.

I've owned the systems from the three big companies. IMO this is how I rate them in order of reliability: 1. Nintendo 2. Sony 3. Microsoft

WTF is your problem?

I never asked you to answer to me matey boy, yet you think its ok to make my case sound invalid like I'm blinded by hate or something. Just because you have an obvious soft spot for Microsoft doesn't make what I say untruthful either. I hope you realise the 360 is one of the most unreliable systems in history and the former marketing exec eventually claimed every 360 on the market at the time was defective. Right before they extended the warranty.

I have a

  • NES
  • SNES
  • Jaguar
  • N64
  • Gamecube
  • Wii
  • Dreamcast
  • PS1
  • PS2
  • PS3
  • XBOX
  • XBOX 360
  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Colour
  • GBA
  • DS
  • PSP

The only ones to break are the XBOX and 360. But think whatever you want I really don't care. The 360 is my favourite platform ever BTW before you try anything smart.

I also like my 360 the best out of all platforms, but I can agree that it was probably the most prone to defect out of all of them. They seem to have the issue fixed with the new slim model. Have you seen the size of that fan? It's huge and much needed! I also have one of the newer,HDMI equipped, 360's, which was manufactured in 08, and is supposed to have the cooler chip in it. So far so good. But yes, I can agree with you that the 360 WAS one of the most defective consoles in history. Thankfully they corrected it.

Its ok I understand. Obviously since the Slim and better chips its gotten more reliable but it shouldn't have taken 2-3 revisions to get there. What I don't understand is a random response from that guy getting all high, mighty and patronising because I said I've had bad Microsoft products, as if it never happened. In 20 years its only the xbox and 360 that have failed on me so I'm well within my rights to believe MS make shoddy hardware. The 360 is my favourite platform ever but the PS3 is a better console, wrap your head around that one :P

I had 3 PS2, one sold, one stop reading discs, the other sold.

I had 2 PS3, one stop reading discs, the other still functional.

Maybe my luck but I've experienced both failures at some point.

Indeed. While I love the effort they put in supporting their hardware, with a great gaming library, excellent online, and with a ton of marketing, but I hope they invest a lot of R&D in testing this next console. There is no hiding the fact that the initial wave of 360's , or at least the ones from the first year and a half , were pretty faulty. Everyone of my friends has had theirs succumb to RROD. My son's and mine both fell victim. There's is working fine after they installed a new heat sink, and I switched mine out for a newer HDMI version. I'm just glad they extended the warranty and fixed the issue, but it was probably the worst console , as far as dependability, to hit the market.

I've had PCs fail on me before (Laptops), but only one console -- a Dreamcast I had a few years ago. But I don't blame it, I didn't really treat it well.
