I highly doubt it. I dont think the average Wii owner is someone who has any interest in games consoles, never mind owning more than one of them. Ninja-BearWii's attach rate is of 7.5 games per system so that people is the minority

most wii owners arnt satisfied with amount of core games they are getting so actually they do consider going to either 360 or ps3,, so naturally a wii owner would be inclined to go towards the ps3 because they know that if all fails they can still play the type of games they enjoyed on the wiiRight because they have teh Mario and Zelda? To me the avearge Nintendo consumer is:
"Wow the PSmove, it looks like the Wiimote + nunchuck but without my favorite games"
Havent exactly met a Wii owner excited about blu ray

everyone wishes the wii was in hd and sony plans on fulfilling that wishWhats the appeal? better graphics? Thats all Sony has and Nintendo has an established pool of good motion based games, and their core games have been converted to motion controls. Sony needs to just hope that hardcore players will view it as being worthwhile.

if Wii 2/HD is coming this year which is something Im pretty sure it will happen then Sony and MS will fail big time with their motion controllers.
Wii 2/HD should happen this year, people who own a Wii can't afford to buy NATAL or MOVE this year and Wii 2 come next year, it's just too much, best timing for Nintendo to keep their installed base is to release Wii 2/HD this year.
What would happen if there isn't a new nintendo console this year?
I say it's going to be tough to predict the future.
the NATAL stuff is really something appealing that looks like it would sell like hot cakes for casuals and non-gamers but it isn't proveyet and it is something new and since it is something new if even the slightest thing goes wrong ( something like clear lag or something like NATAL won't work properly, resulting a ton of heat from casuals ) then it's going to fail miserably.
As for the MOVE, it is either the natural upgrade from the Wii which will guarantee great sales or people will see it as a Wii copy cat which will guarantee greatfail.
Right because they have teh Mario and Zelda? To me the avearge Nintendo consumer is:

I hope you realize how absurd that sounds. System wars is not a good gauge of the real world.
I am getting a ps3 in the future but it certainly is not going to be from move. Move is nothing new. Everything they showed has been done. They are not showing new exciting games. They are showing games that make casuals say, how is this different from the wii or hardcore gamers say, how is this making the game better?
Already have aa PS3 so I'm already on board, anyone else?

I'll wait to see if the cost comes down.
Wow, and I thought Microsoft and Sony would wait till next gen before Wii-ing their systems out. Is no one else worried about this trend? Next gen consoles that are barley much more advanced than their predecessors with gimmicks for their main controllers and little to none AAA titles? I guess this may be my last generation in gaming if this trend continues. :(
Yes because I'm going to get the same freakin' experience that I'm enjoying on my Wii on the PS3.
Seriously, Sony? Seriously???
I'm not Jumping ship to the PS3 because of some gimpped controller. I'm sorry but you were better before the Motion Control came in.
I dont mind motion controls on the PS3 as long as they are not standard for every game. Its one of the reasons I dont like the Wii, I dont want to be using the Wiimote for every game I play. I know there is a classic controller for some games. Another thing I dont lik about the Wii is that it doesn't support an HD resolution, games just dont look right when playing on a HDTV. I dont mind the graphics I just wish I could play at an HD res. And finaly the online on the Wii is a joke, at least to me. So I'm looking forward to the PS Move, and I hope it does well.

Monster Hunter Tri, Heard of it?
I heard it has full Classic Controller Support.
No Motion control.
i think some might switch over.. how many depends on the games.
KBFloYd
most will probably switch for Move then eventually abandon the games and just start to watch movies on it and forget the PS3 is even a gaming system. Until they see the wand with a ball on and then they'll say "oh yeah we traded our Wii for this...."

I have yet to watch a single Blu Ray on my 6 month old PS3, and I have a HDTV. None the less its one of the many perks I got it for.[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"][QUOTE="KBFloYd"]

You should really try and watch a BluRay movie on there. There is a BIG difference between the DVD and BluRay.
First of all Casuals don't even know what Move is.
Second of all this sounds really dumb but casuals like things simple. When you buy the Wii it comes with the controllers and a game (5 sports games wow omg! lol). To get Move you need to buy a Sony console + Move + game? Or does Move come with a game... either way it's complicated and casuals won't understand... neither will they buy the whole package for $500.
Casuals don't want to spend that much money. Sony also needs to realize that out of those 50 million Wii owners, about 20 million of those Wii's are collecting dust after playing Wii Sports once or twice on Christmas morning.
Unless Sony makes some amazing games that take advantage of it and not some gimmicks I don't see Move working.

Ha yeah right, they dont honestly think people are going to with the $300 price tag, and the controls being priced at $100 each do they? That will just lead them back to square one with a $600 console.
Phaze-Two
math is hard
300 + 100 = 400
400 =/= 600
Does that include the price for the sub controller and the 2nd wand you will need to be able to play some games how they were meant to be?
That's my problem and the reason casuals won't flock to the PS3 because of Move. It would be far more expensive than the Wii.

I don't think casuals will flock to Move (or Natal). But I doubt the casual purchaser will think about the need for a sub-controller or 2nd wand.If the PSMove ends up offering a similar gaming experience to the Wii, in addition to it's current features, someone considering buying a Wii for their family, may look at it and think, should I get the Wii or the Wii HD which doubles as a Blu-Ray player.
The "IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING" advertising will presumably try to drive home this message of "IT ONLY DOES Wii HD TOO"
Although on the whole I think it will have negligible effect on hardware sales.
I realise Sony and their rabid fans think they took Sega down because they are full of win , but one of the major contributing factors to Sega losing popularity in the mid 90's (even before the Saturn) was their obscene prices and the fact they released a lot of add ons and upgrades (which were also expensive). Both Sony and MS are oblivious it would seem to the fact eventually your customers will get pissed off at you.
That is very true. Nintendo have ignored the move to 3D, analogue and now gesture based control schemes and jsut repackage Metroid II: Return of Samus witha new player roster every year. Can someone please tell me what is soo special and awe inspiring about metroid, mario and zelda...arent these the same games people have been playing for about 2 decades?

I think Nintendo proved you can successfully launch some peripherals without alienating your current install base. Just look at motion plus, the Wii fit balance board and the zapper. Heck, look at Guitar Hero and Rockband.I realise Sony and their rabid fans think they took Sega down because they are full of win , but one of the major contributing factors to Sega losing popularity in the mid 90's (even before the Saturn) was their obscene prices and the fact they released a lot of add ons and upgrades (which were also expensive). I wasn't talking down to you. I was saying any answer you could get from a Nintendo fan that still supports Nintendo after the Gamecube probably wont have a very good answer as to why they continue to play ancient game series over stuff thats more recent. The best you could probably get is that they're content with Nintendo. Anything else would be fanboy rambling.what are you talking about? I'm an open minded guy. If I didnt want answers I wouldnt ask questions. The gamecube is a far superior gaming machine than the wii, Pikmin, f-zero, eternal darkness, resident evil...I could go on[QUOTE="Zaibach"]

Do you honestly think the same Nintendo fans that weathered through the Gamecube and still support Nintendo really care about anything other than Nintendo? Any answer they could give is probably something you wont accept anyway.vashkey

Sorry Sony. Just becuase you have a blueray player and think your god. Isn't going to want to make people spend 400 dollars for the move and ps3 over the wii at 200.

What about this scenario would cause a reduction in AAA titles?
