There is only one reason that the PSP2 beat the 3ds.... wait... no... no there is not. It only beats the 3ds if it sells more, and as you cant claim to know that yet, your two listed "facts" do not relate to who wins. Could it win? Sure. But if there is one thing last gen taught me, its that big hardware does not win a console war. In 05 I was completely out of the video game scene, and when I saw the PSP in store shops next to the DS I thought to my self "Wow someone will finally beat nintendo in the handheld market.". Oh how wrong I was. And I know its popular to say that pokemon is not that big of a deal but it is. It really really is. Pokemon will pretty much make the 3ds fly off the selves in japan as well as everywhere else in the world.

Well, no matter what, you can not deny Nintendo's cult following. Not to mention we are lacking one very crucial piece of information: PRICE. How well the NGP (PSP2) does in sales will greatly depend on how much SONY charges for it. And knowing SONY.. well, lets just say they aren't exactly known for launching with competitive prices. If the PSP2 is $300, I would expect SONY to take the handheld gaming market by storm. However, if it's $400 or more (which I am more inclined to believe), then it's going to have a rough launch. Nintendo is no slouch. they have games people like to play, and they have Miyamoto. I will say this is going to be an interesting generation for handhelds. Though I am skeptical, I think the PSP2 definitely has the potential to take the market. It has the controls, it has the technology. SONY just needs to get the price right, and all will be great. I mean, even at $400, if you think about it, it should still sell relatively well. Think of how many people bought the iPhone/iTouch for that much (or more!). But yeah. It'll be close. Definitely more interesting than last gen. :)

I disagree, in the end it will come down to games, and how well the games are designed for handheld gaming. Who has the advantage at this point is not yet known however going by the previous entries I would say Nintendo is more likely to win in terms of sales. In terms of games it could go either way, and in terms of personal preference, I think I will have to go with the one that offers Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Metroid games.

With that said, I think both the NGP and the 3DS have a lot going for them.

Agreed. PSP2 will be a great system as PSP was imo. But the DS was all over it. Ninty will be hard to dethrone in the handheld market, and going more expensive is not going to do it Sony.

Sony is going to get manhandled again because it's trying to be the jack of all trades. Didn't work with the PSP so why would it work with the NGP?

Seriously. NGP won't have anything on the same caliber as Pokemon.

Though not quite as popular, Monster Hunter could be called the other Pokemon game for companies like Sony.

whats funny is the 3ds is supposedly getting monster hunter.

This gen the DS won because it introduced a new want to play games on a handheld, which is touchscreen. Next gen (3DS) they added a feature that doesnt really improve gameplay which is 3D and an analog stick that the psp already have. The current psp had nothing to innovate handheld gaming, it was just a regular handheld. NOW the NGP has 2 analog sticks, 3G, and dual touchpads on the back. thats features that could potentionally improve GAMEPLAY. 3g could mean online gaming on a handheld which sounds pretty awesome. 2 analog sticks allow developers to make an actual good shooter. and the dual touchpad on the back just adds more options for developers to use, it could be used like R1 and R2 like the PS brand controllers who knows?

Auto loses when the gen didn't even start?

Whoa this 3DS vs NGP war going on really makes me see how silly people can be, lol. So many people thinking their predictions are fact.
