http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/06/06/new-3d-display-and-ps3-accessories-debut-at-e3/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=3d_display_e311_060611

sony has created their own new line of 3D TVs specifically directed at PS3 gaming. and.......... its ****ing affordable!!!

"Each 3D Display will include one pair of 3D Glasses as well as an HDMI cable and a copy of Resistance 3 on Blu-ray disc—all of $499.99 (MSRP)"this also comes with 2 pairs of 3d glasses.

That alone has got me excited. but there is more

sony has developed a new method of split screen, in which 3d is utilized to make the players perceive the entire screen to themselves. Im not making this up. this is going to be at E3

3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode

3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode

3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode

kinda blows the microsoft showing out of the water, doesnt it? I mean, this is just mindblowing.

The $500 includes the 24 inch 3D HDTV, a PS3, and an HDMI cable I believe. The glasses are $70 bucks each. Not too shabby, but I dont need 3D.

it doesnt come with a ps3. it comes with resistance 3.

Lets wait and see what the picture quality is like on this thing. I appreciate Sony trying to being 3D to the masses, but if it looks like crap, there is no point.

It would be like buying a crappy and cheap 5.1 surround just so you could have surround.

It would be neater if it were actually a decent size. 24" is suitable for dorm rooms and little else.

aroxx_ab

No, then again you have to buy a second pair of glass for that making it $600. I am not saying it's a bad deal. It's a good deal, but the price of 3D TV have gone down alot. For a couple more hundred you can get a much larger TV.

It's amazing how many people think the split screen feature is a new innovation. It's not. I remember reading about a 3D TV that did this at least 6 months ago.

Well it's a great package deal. It's hard to overcome the 24 in part. In this day in age it's rare to see many people with anything less than 36 to 42 in tv.

You get what you pay for though. You can buy a cheapo TV but you're not getting Sony quality. Look up a 40" 1080p 120htz 3d TV with extra glasses and let me know how much it costs. Remember you're also getting a $60 copy of Resistance 3. 24" is too small for me, but you cant say its not a good deal because it is.

Why not? I am all about quality and my last monitor was a 22.5" Alienware 1080p monitor with a SUPER low latency. I dont get it...Its almost like an accessory for playing 3d games, I would think this would appeal to someone who is:

a) currnetly plays on an SD TV and wants to get an affordable 3d tv or

b) someone who has a 40"+ HDTV and wants a TV for 3d gaming without spending a fortune.

I'm happier that 3DTVs have gone down in price so much since a couple of years ago. Soon you'll be able to get bigger Internet-connected 3DTVs for less than $1000.

not some scam of a deal that will have my wallet screaming for mercy sorry i paid 600 at launch of the phat 60 gig , and 300 at launch of slim ps3, i refuse to buy another for 500 , sorry

I'm a cheapo though, I don't ever see myself spending that kind of money on a television--especially when my 720p/1080i 32" television from 2006 (lol) does the job just fine.

everywhere in the US. You get an antenna and receive all the local channels (CBS, ABC, etc) in HD for free.

You can already get a 50" 3D plasma for under 1000. Its only 720p, but until DisplayPort replaces HDMI thats all you're gonna get for 3D gaming.

After buying my 42" Panasonic plasma, I find it hard to watch any television of a smaller size. 24" 3D display... affordable? I lol'd. Get back to me when they get a 42" 3D display down to that price and have more than a couple games that have something more than a gimmicky novelty to take advantage of the technology. Also, find me 3D glasses that will fit over my current glasses I wear and not be uncomfortable. Or do away with the glasses altogether.

If you paid attention to sales during christmas/early this year, the Panasonic GT25 was in fact around 600 bucks at a few locations and it included free glasses and a 3D blu ray player.

Sadly I had no money because that deal is f'ing incredible.

I think they should also make a 32" version. 24 is about computer monitor/small dorm size.

Easier said than done. Glasses are covered by my benefits. Contacts aren't. I can't really afford either (been wearing the same pair since 2003, lol). >_>

Only had so much money... I couldn't afford the 1080p Viera, and here in Canada, I doubt the GT25 would have been only $600. :P That, and I have no desire for 3D, lol. Not until it shows its worth in more than just a handful of games and movies. I waited several years to upgrade to HD and am glad I did. Saved me a lot of money. Same will go for 3D. Which I do believe will be just a passing fad, unless someone can come up with something quite ground-breaking.

A monitor you use for PC gaming, right? PC gamers can get away with small screen sizes because they sit so close to the monitor, console gamers generally prefer much bigger since they usually sit at least 6 feet away. How many people will be willing to lose 16" (using your 40" example) on their TV for a silly gimmick, anyway?

Also, I don't know if any of you actually own a 3D TV, but I do and the appeal of 3D is immersion, and you're not going to get that on a tiny 24" screen. Mine is a 55" and I still feel it's too small to be completely effective and not anywhere close to the experience you'd get on, say, an IMAX screen, which is how 3D is meant to be enjoyed. My overall feeling on home 3D is that it's a pricey, uncomfortable (glasses) gimmick.
