@ronvalencia: I don't talk to robots.
Don't get into a debate without knowing your subject matter. I'm not here to school you.
I like that approach and that's how it should be, but E3 works better for you when you announce high profile games.
Nah, not when they are 2-3 years away.
E3 should focus on games coming out in the next 12 months.
That's what I meant, the window between the announcement and release should be short, I'd say 6 months is the ideal window.
I like that approach and that's how it should be, but E3 works better for you when you announce high profile games.
You're right about that. Also, Xbox needs to avoid another Scalebound. High profile and trailers but it still got cancelled in the end.
Indeed!
Was actually waiting for Scalebound, really bummed me out when it got cancelled.
Why didn't you get up in arms when they said NUMEROUS times that its up to developers to decide on how to use the power? Why are you bitching now? Did you expect some magical new reveal? When you were posting all those PRO Xbox threads did you hope MS would announce 12 TFLOPS console and say "Surprise" its faster? He did not change his position because NOTHING announced at E3 about the system specs and capabilities was new. NOTHING. The only thing that was left out from the initial reveal was price and release date. Gamers had all the information they needed about the system's capabilities prior to E3.
Up to the developers, is a recent PR statement. Phil Spencer never said most third party games will be checkboarding to 4K. If we knew that months ago, it be less of an issue right now. He's still pushing the narrative of a stronger console that can handle 4K native easily.
Checkboard 4k and 30fps single player games, is not the narrative they promoted originally.
The following links and quotes are from last E3. Enjoy!!!
Phil talking about first party games being native 4K and not promising third parties games being 4k.
"I should be able to take an Xbox One game today that is in 1080p and 60fps and I want to do 4K/60fps on this new box. And we built the box to deliver that goal." Albert Penello
The headline you linked me to is this
Whereabouts did you see this on that page "Phil talking about first party games being native 4K and not promising third parties games being 4k"
We have video evidence. Phil saying developers must deliver true 4K and we have statements from the xbox one team promoting this console. True 4k, 60fps no compromises.
Just another case of Phil talking out of his ass
A single damn GTX 1080 isn't even capable of consistently running all games in 4K at a steady 60+ fps.
Yet I'm supposed to believe that a $500 console can manage this feat?
It's the epitome of bullshit
The best 6 TFLOPS FP32 class GPUs are reference GTX 980 Ti and GTX 1070. X1X's FreeSync support already indicates dipping below 60 fps.
@loe12k: I mean, that's the stuff I was referring to. Most of that isn't really a lie. It DOES do 4K. It DOES do 60fps. Calling it "true 4K" is a jab at the Pro, which wasn't really classy since it currently (and they probably knew this would be the case at that time as well) has a growing list of dynamic res and checkerboard titles. But, the only thing on that that I think is actually a real lie is the statement that it does this "without compromises" - that's a lie, because 1) there are always compromises; even when developing the PC version of a game devs will hold back because it needs to be able to kind-of-sort-of run on a 1080TI. It can't be just unplayable by anyone because they refused to compromise "their vision". It's also a lie(ish), because 2) it really does suggest games will be 4K 60fps Ultra. That's clearly not the case for every title, it was never going to be the case for every title, and by giving the devs the freedom to choose how to use the hardware (a good thing) it kind of ensures that wouldn't happen. So no, it doesn't give "the highest quality pixels" "without compromises". But it's technically true that it does "real" 4K gaming and can do so at 60FPS.
I don't think it means a damn thing until the games are released. Phil is known for cancelling games that are well into development, and shown to the general public, both first and third party games.
Spencer talks out of his ass constantly
3 years on the job and what the hell has he actually done to improve the XBOX brand?
The XBone X is going to be DOA.
On top of being totally redundant, they couldn't have picked a shittier name. The average consumer isn't going to know what the hell the difference is between an XBone S and an XBone X.
No to mention that if you don't already own a 50+" 4K TV, the thing is fucking pointless.
This whole "mid-gen" bullshit from Microsoft and Sony is beyond stupid.
Just wait until the PS5 or XB whatever inevitably come rolling down the pike by 2019.
Your ignorance is quite astonishing. Will read again.
Wow reading what he wrote...he reeks of ignorance...lmao
3 years on the job and he's done quite a lot, not that it benefits anything YOU actually care for...
Don't already own a 50" 4K TV? Lmfao. Phil said numerous times if you don't have a 4K you'll still notice supersampling on 1080p sets...lol
Surely they have games coming out before 2-3 years.
Of course, people just prefer a hyperbolic narrative. All I see this as is that they have more new games in the pipeline, it shouldn't be viewed as anything else.
By the time the new exclusives are ready PS5 and XboxTwo will be out already. I guess it's his way of saying MS has given up on this gen. ? GG lems, you guys had a decent run,
We sign for 3 games yesterday so hold tied until 2020 and enjoy Halo gear and forza a little more.
Surely they have games coming out before 2-3 years.
Of course, people just prefer a hyperbolic narrative. All I see this as is that they have more new games in the pipeline, it shouldn't be viewed as anything else.
Your view is the only view, of course.
Phil seems like a good guy and his focus on strengthening his hardware is good. He's made big strides there, I feel.
But, personally, I don't come for the hardware. I come for the games. Their conference had good titles but left me wanting, and it certainly didn't convince me to jump into the Xbox One X pool at $500. And knowing these games are years away because he didn't put in the effort in securing deals or games like this earlier?
Eh, I'll stick with my OG XB1 and have it continue as a Halo machine with some other highlights around (like Ori). I still like the machine and have a bunch of titles for it.
Surely they have games coming out before 2-3 years.

None of this addresses your claim
We knew since LAST YEAR. I provided links from last E3 that demonstrates this. Stop pretending that this is a new direction or statement. After the E3 2016 conference the media bombarded MS (rightfully) to clarify what they meant and I gave you links to that clarification. You were wrong and its it time to move on. Not because you placed your head in the sand means MS is deceiving you.
Directly from the link provided. Last year E3.
Gamespot:- Microsoft GM Shannon Loftis recently said all first-party games launched in the Scorpio time frame will run be rendered natively at 4K instead of upscaled--do you think third-party games will generally follow suit?
Phil Spencer:- I want to put the tools in the hands of the creators and let them decide.
Dude he put a video of MS stating true 4k if you don't know what that stand for i advice you to go into google and find it.
The fact that MS allow developer to use power as they want is not an excuse to under deliver, worse when a developer use Checkerboard rendering and dynamic resolution is because the machine in question doesn't have the power to run the game at native target resolution without heavily compromise performance why do you think the Pro use it?
Oh sony could have done that already as well claim developer are free to use the power as the want and move on.

Duh!
What's happening to you? You were all pro Xbox and now you're shitting on the brand. Tell me your story!
I still like Xbox and it's exclusives. I just see the bullshit after this E3. Where is new AAA exclusives for next year and after? Microsoft should have started developing those games last year or before. And they kind of lied about the power of Scorpio or least tried to push the narrative it was a 4K native console and there be no compromises..
Completely disagree, they were completely transparent. They clearly said:
Also they already have decent exclusives coming... Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, Forza...

Dude know what the discussion is about before jumping in with your usual fanman drivel. He stated that Phil leaving it up to developers to support 4K is a new thing and it FACTUALLY isn't. Its that simple.
Seems about right. PS4 didnt have any exclusives for the first two years.
So that means they'll come out the same time as Death Stranding and TLoU2. Seems about right again.
Forza 7 is coming this year. Crackdown 3 is coming this year. Cuphead is coming this year. Conan Exiles is coming this year. Player unknown Battlegrounds is coming this year. Combined with all the big multiplats thats more than enough to tide me over til far into next year.
I'm actually more hyped for all the good indies coming this year than the big games anyway. Dont care if they are multiplats I'll be playing them.
Just go ahead and change your avatar TC. We know one of those infected cows bit you and you now have H1Z1. You're turning into a werecow and its not a pretty sight.

Saying they signed new deals isn't saying they have nothing in the works. And they didn't lie about the console, xbox one / ps4 is 4k at a particular standard graphics. Its impossible to make a native 4k console targeting the future, even a 1080ti struggles at 4k...

People are so silly on this forum. Grown men acting like babies. People complaining that there isn't any games when high profiled games are being released later this year. People complained about upscaling to 1080p then both companies made a machine that surpasses 1080p and now they are complaining about upscaling to 4k. Then they complain about mid gen upgrade. Then they complain that its too expensive. Then they complained that their is not enough games supporting the new tech.

And where are the AAA exclusives on the PS box for the rest of this year, and the year after next? I feel your pain.
They never lied about Scorpio. They said developers could do whatever they wanted to. They didn't want to force them to a resolution or frames per second. If they did, the developers would not build on their console.

its system wars, its all about attacking frivolous nonsense. Like M$ isn't doing anything... and they only count exclusives, and exclusives have a meaning of only on a single system, unless it hurts their argument.
@loe12k: You do realize that Microsoft doesn't have any IP out in the wind right now as far as what may show up at E3 2018? Do you really think they're going to show up next year and say "i got nothing"?
Phil has been executing a strategy to get away from announcing games before they're ready so he doesn't have to face more situations like Phantom Dust, Fable Legends and Scalebound. I doubt he's been sitting back for 3 years completely ignoring the most important part of his job, games just take time to build.
The way I see it, we've got plenty of good games to look forward to between now and next June. I've got at least 6 games from the conference on my buy list plus the horse dick of a console coming out on Nov 7th.
So yeah, I'm fine with how things are. We know MS has games being worked on and we have damn near no idea what those are, for once their line up is a mystery and may actually surprise a few people.
So in 2-3 years when the next gen consoles will be ready to release. Lol I knew the xxxxbx was a quick cash grab for Microsoft this gen. It was never their intention to take it seriously.
It's like watching those animal shows with the groups that eat their own kind.
TC has a point. That comment does not sound good.
Xbox one x is good for people who never owned a next gen system or medium to spec PC, but useless for everyone else.
I think it would outperform a medium spec PC though
I see they're buying exclusives again even though they have employees that can make games for them, so lazy
I have 2 sides of this personally.
1. part; I want to see the whole road map for the next 3-5 years. aka: finding all the Xmas presents early. Then when Xmas or e3 in this case comes. it's ruined because I already knew, and have to sit through the same shit over and over again.
part 2 and the more realistic side says: enjoy the ride and surprises. And show me the stuff that is coming within the next 18 months. If it is 2.5-3 years away, just wait and don't jerk my chain with a CGI trailer with no game play. I like the blow your mind and you can get it in 6 months or less reveals.
And c'mon man! Just because they are announcing this does NOT mean there is nothing else til then. Playground, Rare, and Mojang all have new IP in the works that have not been seen. And these are just ones we have heard of!
And if the typical system wars BS argument comes up about no games, can always respond with a PS4 fanboy gamer response before this year. "Well I am playing all the best 3rd party games in the best console format"
What's happening to you? You were all pro Xbox and now you're shitting on the brand. Tell me your story!

They've had the same games announced since last E3. Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and an annual Forza. Only other games in that time period have been Gears of War 4, Recore, Dead Rising 4 and Halo Wars. Very small lineup.
Oh well, at least there's Ori 2 and a plethora of mediocre looking indie titles on the way.
Meh. I think Phil has been doing a really good job with the Xbox brand myself. I really enjoy the current lineup of games that they have as console exclusives, not really interested in PC gaming so whatever games that they have shared between Xbox and PC is irrelevant to me. I'm sure they'll have more exclusives down the road so I don't really mind waiting for them myself.
@Pedro: Well done.....totally agree on the true 4K thing, as long as numerous games deliver that Im good, I absolutely never expected every game to be Native 4K lol
So let me get this straight. I'm supposed to buy the X1X, and then wait around for three years for exclusives*? Really? So far the multiplat games shown look identical in graphical quality to the PS4 Pro. We've seen nothing that shows otherwise. Therefore, there literally is no point in buying this console, because its main selling point is power, yet the Pro seems to equal the X1X on a visual scale when it comes down to it. MS had such a huge chance to stick it to Sony this E3 with the reveal of a new spec-heavy console loaded out of the gate with exclusive games, and they completely blew it. No one except for diehard MS fans is going to want this thing. On top of all this, by the time the exclusives* roll around, the PS5 will be here.
Here is a news flash from the future that you can bank on. All those games with a 2018 date on Sony stage really meant end of 2018, and by end of 2018 really meant 2019.
Delay station back again with extra smoke and mirrors for all your milking pleasure. Stay tuned for a 2016 re-remastered E3 of 2016. Glad you liked watching those trailers because you will be watching them next year too.

As opposed to Sony who announced a plethora of new games not seen at last years E3 like, Spider-Man, GT Sport, God of War, Detroit, Days Gone etc, etc.
Sony opened the show with 2 lots of DLC, and it's newest announced game is a remake of remaster, keep drinking the kool aid kid lol.
It's not surprising all you cows are talking about MS after E3, because in your hearts you know Sony's E3 was a shit show.

Xbots cannot accept this unfortunately, they flip flop all the time.
I prefer that they wait to announce stuff until it's closer to being ready... I hate it how Sony announces shit years in advance. It's stupid. I mean don't get me wrong, it's smart from a PR perspective, but I think it's ridiculous to announce games years before release... like LOU2. That game will be lucky to come out before 2019.

So, you want all your games to launch like the MasterChief Collection because being on schedule is more important than working?
Riddle me this. Riddle me that.

Well, at least the OP has awakened to how ridiculous the situation is. Gotta give him credit for being honest.
@hrt_rulz01: This Narnia Wonderland yourself and the Lemmings have created where games development is bereft of creative direction changes, bug testing, game engine revisions, optimization, more bug testing, version control, then quality assurance (that must mystically go 100% perfectly every time a game is about to go gold).
Videogames can be massively difficult to release, let alone at some arbitrary time point after a major press conference. You guys have been dead wrong on the subject all gen long.
