Yeah, we all know no good science fiction flick can have cute little Saturday-morning-cartoonish aliens...

SparkyProtocol

Ewoks were one of the main reasons why Return of the Jedi was pure crap compared to previous two movies

Also there are Jawas :D

And like Grunts, they distract the audience away from the real badassesof Tatooine.

Dude, ewoks are awesome. They are the only creatures to ever manage to capture and nearly burn alive Han Solo and a Jedi, and their freaking teddy bears. They also defended the forest from an army of stormtroopers. Doesn't that say something about the awesomeness of ewoks?

Please don't be sarcasm because they were great. I guess every alien in the universe has to be atleast five and a half feet tall to not be considered a P.O.S. :(

Also just look at another Spielberg movie with E.T. and that is that is a cute little alien that was the main star and was a huge success.

Funny you say that, because a *LOT* of people love Ewoks (they've become quite the positively perceived icon). But eh, you are one of the people I've seen in this forum most likely to lord your opinion as some sort of overarching truth (which in this forum is saying a lot), so I guess if that's how you see the world, who am I to argue? ;)

Any which way, based on responses, I guess it's pretty clear that "cute" aliens can be components in some of the best science fiction movies ever made, so, I've made my contribution to the post. Good day to you all ;) Oh, and, yeah - I was thinking about E.T. too, but I figured Star Wars would be more like Halo in general tone and space-opera'ishness.

I'm obviously just stating my opinion, that's all we do here at SW.
I'm not lording "the one and only truth" anymore than you do. iof course you seem to be the one who can't grasp the idea not everyone has to agree with you. Just because I have a diffrent opinion than you do doesn't mean I want to forbid you from having one.

for all those complaining about the covenants cute little aliens: For every grunt there is a hunter, brute, elite, and jackal...none of which posses any "cute" qualities.. Im really excited for this rumor. I dont understand why MS put the brakes on so quick after Universal and Fox fell out. It seems like they didnt really care as much as they should have. Seriously, at the moment, there are so many games being made into movies (asteroids wtf?!) when some of the few that could actually work as movies (halo, Mass Effect) are being completely neglected

Spielberg + Halo film = PG13 = No Thanks

I don't care about his latest films other than his earlier works and historical based films, which were R-rated.

And he seems to have some kind of bias towards making R-rated films outside the Historical genre.

If he wants to exec-produce it that's great, but if it's anyone besides Neill Blomkamp directing, I don't think i'd want to see it.

I think Halo would be hard to do well as a live action movie as many of the characters and lore would need to be CGI and there is always a chance thatit would become more anime than live action. I think I would prefer it in the style of Avatar as opposed to Transformers though the budget would need to be massive. I think a Gears of War movie makes a lot more sense, not because the story is better but because the main cast will be human and easier to identify with and also means only the Locust need to be CGI.

And what has Spielberg done recently that is good? War of the Worlds was meh, the new Indiana Jones was beyond meh, The Terminal was painfully crappy, Minority Report was a lousy adaptation of a great Phillip K. Dick story, AI was horrible and not even close to what a genius like Kubrick (the original director) could have done. I think the only respectable movie he has done recently is Munich and even that doesn't come close to some of his old drama movies like Schindler's List. He should have retired a long time ago while he was still good now he's just awful.

I was disappointed by the new Star Wars and Indy, but at the very least they had good effects. South Park had it right though.

At the very least Spielberg's Minority Report and Munich were bold and fantastical far cries from the shlocky action films of Michael Bay that are so popular.

Also I don't think insane critical reception to recent releases like Minority Report and humdreds of millions off the latest Indy (which Lucas ruined up) are a damning statement to him.

I think they should skip Reach, and do an intro similar to Fellowship of the Ring, recapping what happened. And then do the Halo Trilogy.

As brilliant as Spielburg isi think Halo would be safer in the hands of Blomkamp and Jackson, they did an amazing job with District 9 and it totally had a Halo vibe to it.

I think they should skip Reach, and do an intro similar to Fellowship of the Ring, recapping what happened. And then do the Halo Trilogy.

do you mean doing a movie similar based of contact harvest(assuming you mean the UNSC vs the covenant when you said what happen).
