[QUOTE="2scoopsofempty"][QUOTE="Cute_Gamer"]The 360 is the best console ever, MS is the first company to get online console gaming right
Cute_Gamer
It shouldnt cost 50 bucks a year though. not for p2p. and i have encounterd plenty of lag over XBL in my day as well. oh and by the way, whats with all the ads latley. i pay primium price for a ad riddled service?
The ads don't pop in front of your face so they are no big deal
When another console can have just as good as multiplayer as the 360 then maybe XBL will be free
Until then I'll gladly pay 50 bucks for a full year which is nothing
if im going to dish out 50 bucks a year i want ZERO ads. but instead i get hit with more ads and a microtransaction for everything, like new maps and such. and since when should i have to PAY for new themes? or gamer pics? there are no dedicated servers, and WHY in gods name does it cost 800 Microsoft points to change my gamer tag?!?!?
the only thing XBL has going for it is that its unified.

I agree. it really doesn't justify the 50 dollar tag. I guess microsoft needs to make positive profit somewhere.
[QUOTE="Yellow_Rose"][QUOTE="blues3531"]ok so your basically admitting and agreeing with me that the console as a physical piece of hardware isnt great?? and please its ms we're talking about here, they can flex their wallet when ever htey want
blues3531
less talky, more proofy.
What ever man its not like MS ever openly admitted it but anyone who knows their history in business knows happens. Many MANY games either went 360 exclusive went ps3 exclusive to ps3/360 or went straight ps3 exclusive to 360 exclusive. MS bought those games and i dont have a problem with that at all because ill get to play all those games but no one can honestly say the 360 is great physical hardware
You're trying to go back to "hardware issues" again. Sorry kid. you don't get off that easy.
You do know that Capcom has released 2 (technically 3) games on the 360 so far and every one of them EXCEEDED sales expectations, right?
You wanna try and claim that had absolutely nothing to do with Capcom's decision to bring DMC4 to 360?
I've been hearing this getting tossed around quite a bit but its really a misconception. Take my word on this I own one and am no part of any fanboy camp. 360 is the only current gen console I own.
But lets be honest about this. The 360 simply as a console is down right terrible, maybe one of the worst ever.
No next gen format, no standard hdd, everything is add ons. No built in wifi. AND the biggest thing of them all is the terrible reliability. The RROD is an epidemic. Yes 100% of all 360's will fail. Its a matter of when not if.
On the other hand, it does provide really the best gaming you can get for your money. I'm not saying its a bad idea to own one. But dont call the 360 a great console. Just thank, yes thank M$ for buying up exclusives and thank the devs for flocking to the 360 to make such amazing games on. The games are its only strong point but as a console it simply fails.

Umm, that´s why i bought my 360. For games.
As my Wii
...and PS3.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this.. but a console is meant to play games, so if games are its strong point, how does it fail at being one?
stopped reading when you started judging it based on what you think are 'next gen' features.
i go by games. and the experience involved in playing them by myself, and with other via xbl. it's some of the best fun i've had since i started console gaming.. with my Atari 7800 :|

Well whatever. you can have your opinion on the matter. All I'll say is I strongly disagree. The 360 is a great console. It may have its faults, but there isn'ta system out there that doesn't.
O.K. nitwits,
A long time ago, there was a car. That car was called the Ford Pinto. Now, the Pinto was a very popular car, it sold like gangbusters. People loved to drive it. Everyone was having great fun and feeling superior to their neighbors. Then one day, they all started breaking down. Soon the President of Ford Motor Company announced that the Pinto was in fact defective due to a design flaw. Soon after they quit manufacturing it. Pretty soon those "jealous neighbors" were feeling pretty good about spending a few more bucks on a Toyota that turned out to be a better , more reliable car.
To make long story short, enjoy playing "GREAT" games on your Brick with the pretty red ring.

How about I go enjoy great games on my launch xbox 360 that is still humming along nicely. I definately will, thanks.

Uh just for you info, the Wii is almost as bad for add ons, at least I don't have to buy a seperate controller to play the old games, and then I have to buy a Wiimote, then the nunchuck, it gets really expensive very fast
as for RROD, the design is flawed, but no fatally, I bought the fan stand from pelican, and placed the system in an open area, that why I believe I have had no problems at all, even when the system has been on all night long, it just gets to hot, keep it cool, and it will last
I agree, out of the current crop of consoles, only the Wii is "good" because it delivers what it intends in a well made and designed machine. I've owned a 360 and a PS3 and to be fair, they are a much of a badness.
I'd give the 360 a 5/10 and the PS3 a 6/10 for purely rating the hardware alone. the 360 does have the better versions of games, but like the girl that gets around, you just cant trust it. What's the point in having the best games if you have to send it off to Microsoft when these games actually come out? Out of 6 people I know with 360's, 3 of them have had hardware errors (red ring of death). Add that to the power brick that takes up 1/4 of my room and the sound of the console (know what the technicians at Chernobyl must have heard now) and you have a stinky piece of hardware with very nice controllers and games.
Sony just seemed to whack as much crap under the hood "for tomorrow" without any serious thought as to whether it would actually, you know, be able to run games "today". Add that to the laughable wii rip off, and now soon to be obsolete "SIXAXIS" controllers and you arent doing much better, though atleast you know there's a good chance you'll be playing the crappier port of a game in 3 months time.
ideally, I'd have the look, pads and ports or the 360 and the free online, running nose and reliability (haha, sony for reliability?) of the ps3.
The fanboys are both arguing over which emporer has the best clothes to be honest, or whose dad could beat up who.
The xbox was a superb piece of kit and the slimline ps2's were nice as well. (original was tat tbh), so that is why I was a little dissapointed that the 360 was a bit of a let down.
I saw some nice Watercooled 360's that would be perfect to be honest for me (improve reliability and no noise), but I have neither the time or inclination to do this myself.
Do yourself a favour and be objective. If you like your console, go have fun with it and contribute intelligent considered discussion to it's technical merits. But, dont worship at the altar of Sony and MS.

Well spoken, but your in the wrong place. I'm sure greater men than all of us has tried to appease the mob and been torn asunder. Hell, heres to trying.
So, PS2 was not a great system??? I mean PS2 was plagued with DRE problems, to the point there were horribly long petitions over it.
360's are surprisingly sturdy to everything other than overheating. I say that with confidence asI have a friend's console sitting on my floor, it has been hit, out of anger, with a hammer, no less than 6 times. (BTW, don't get caught cheating on your GF, she may take it out on your console).
She hit the harddrive and it's fried, the dvd drive got hit and bent as well (won't open up now, bent), yet the system itself will still boot to the dashboard.
It's a great console your negatives are true and I understand your opinion.
But I like what MS did. HD-DVD is not needed at all but they should have included a HDD as standard and that would have solved any storage problems. No built in wifi is a little problematic but then so is the price if it was included. The reliability is MS biggest fault imo.
The PS2 had huge problems and PS1 but they were ironed out after 1 year. 360 has only just started to iron out those problems, shame...
But as a console its very good it has a lovely GPU that has a few tweaks to get more out of it and add-ons. The cpu is easy to use and develop for and has a massive tool set. MS are right about 720P really beingstandard as 1080P is not really possible without cutting other areas of games, which I dont want. So in all the console has been great for developers which is what really the consumers should want for the artists to have easy to use tools to create amazing experiences. Something the PS2 and now the PS3 have had problems with. The PS2 overcame those problems but developers took along time and were not totally happy with Sony.
This time the PS3 should of had better architecture. PC's lead the CPU/GPU arena and choose the avenues we take not consoles.
"Best" is a subjective term - but for accessing the same library it makes a great deal more sense to invest in a gaming PC than the Xbox 360. That said, the point does stand.
The Xbox 360, from the hardware and reliability stance, is honestly a piece of junk.
The Xbox 360, from the library and gaming stance, is a solid console.
But it's not unusual for bad hardware to provide a good library in the console world. It has only been in PC gaming where a solid library has met solid hardware - consoles have always been a compromise - whether it was the PS2 or the SNES.

WOW a ford Pinto refrnce, nice but flawed, the Pinto's main problem was the placement of the gas tank, at the rear of the car, something that many car companies, including the almighty toyota did at the time, but it just so happened that if you were rear ended the tank on the pinto had a tendancy to rupture, and spill gas, and that would generally lead to fire, it was sort of an engineering mistake that no one saw coming, it had never really happened before.
again, other than that the car was no better or worse than anything else, Vehicles made NOW have to have thier gas tanks in front of the rear axle, or tire, that is why on most cars the tank sit under the rear seats, yes your childen are sitting on the gas tank
As for the 360, Mine has been perfect, I replaced it once, not due to the RROD,I went through three Ps2's, I truely believe the RROD is overblown somewhat by fanboys, its really the systems only weakness, and its kicking the crap out of WII and PS3 in regard to quality titles available, yes Wii has some great games, but 360 has more
I have a wii and a 360, and the 360 get ALOT more playtime, it has much better games, and it is the most fun I have has with a single console since the Dreamcast, and thats saying something, because my dreamcast is still connected and played
Yes 100% of all 360's will fail. Its a matter of when not if.
blues3531
You need to rephrase that, I can guarantee that everything is 100% likely to fail eventually.
[QUOTE="LessThanMarcus"]That's why I'm sticking with the PS3, it's only a matter of time before devs realize 360 is garbage. Look at UT3, almost impossible to get it on 360 the way it isYellow_Rose
Jesus H Crakers
The only reason UT3 isn't coming out on 360 isn't coming out on Dec 10th like the PS3 version is because of a dispute with user modsand MS stubborness with Xbox live closed format. Nothing to do with 360 at all.
Nothing to do with 360? I read it was because the game was too big to fit on a DVD. Put games on HDDVD, built in some FREAKING wifi, free your service and xbox has me locked in

it is kinda silly that people are even trying to deny the tc's post...
how does one deny an opinion anyway? silliness...
