Depends what we're calling great William. Indeed, sah. I'm thinking maybe the Galaxy games, Demon's Souls, that sort of thing.[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]I can think of maybe 10. I don't know how you could get more.jg4xchamp
[QUOTE="GOGOGOGURT"]I disagree with the Empty shell part. In a sea of dramatic over-the-top cheesy game characters, master chief is the only one who keeps his head. He's mysterious and caulussed, but you can tell there's a soft spot.ZevianderHeh, talking about Gordon Freeman. :P But you bring up a very rant-worthy point. John is given a huge backstory and tons of exposition in the novel Fall of Reach, and going from that to Halo 3 feels very jarring. On the one hand, he is a very human character with emotions, desires and flaws (always wanting to win no matter what)... then in the game, all he really becomes is a nearly-characterless shell that requires lots of player input to really get anything out of it (i.e. projecting things onto him that might not have been intended by Bungie). It makes me hopeful that 343i really can bust the shell open on John, and show us his human side ("A Hero Awakens" definitely makes me think this will happen). There are very few duty-bound heroic types left in gaming.Halo's story has a lot of the same problems as Gears of War's; much of the plot points and character development happens in the books instead of the actual games.
But yeah, given how 343 has been responsible for much of the recent Halo EU, I'd imagine they'd want to keep Halo 4's storyline consistent with those as well.
