Hoping to see more soon. It's a bit of a lackluster announcement.

5 second teaser trailer along with part of a screenshot... Eh, I'll wait for the rest :P

Hmmm, I was kinda expecting them to go all out on a remaster/remake and make it a showcase on PS5/Xbox Sex

But hey, it's not even sure we'll actually see the new consoles this year (Corona)

Before DF analysis of the Switch. The game runs in 28fps on average. Sees drops into mid teens. Resolution is a dynamic 580p. But its on the go btw, so who cares about it having unacceptable performance.

Not to mention that both Doom and Witcher 3 have settings lower than the lowest settings on PC... They literally had to create new levels of fugly for the switch.

I love my Switch but I'm not going to buy these games on it just for the sake of them being portable as I never take my Switch out the house, so if I want to play Witcher 3 in 2020... the Sub 720p version on lower than lower is not it baby.

But... Why? The first half was really solid, but the last half just went down the drain.

it's a common complaint. i won't pretend the open sections of the game weren't by far my favourite bits, but after coming out the alien ship it made sense for the sake of the story as the aliens were escaping and the island about to blow to create a sense of urgency and remove that freedom, becoming more linear and set piece oriented, and i thought they pulled that off pretty well with a lot of memorable and tense bits

and thats the reason why i beleive Crysis played more like console FPS rather than PC FPS. there has never been PC exclusive FPS before Crysis that had regen health and on rail segment. and many PC gamers fail to admit this.

some justify it "herp derp its due to nanosuit" come on.

Things they better not change on PC but probably will

  • F5 to quick save F9 to quick load
  • The original lean not the weak strafe like in 2 they replaced it with
  • Original Nanosuit powers and controls. In the Crysis sequels they nerfed maximum speed and it's not even in the third game I believe.
  • Original FOV weapon models if you look at the first game the weapon models are smaller for monitor size which should always be this way but if you look at the sequels the gun models are ridiculously big and closer to the screen because of TV size for consoles this always drove me crazy.

Also fixed the entire second half.

it seem like the one who worked on excellent first half didnot worked on second half. 2 different team worked there and seem like different games. not as bad as Far cry 1 second half where second half was so bad that even overshadow first good half but still.

It's the cheap-o solution they seem to pull off at the end of every gen now.

Why invest in new games? There are hundreds of games to choose from that you can remaster instead.

It's Hollywood levels of being creatively bankrupt.

Not anymore as they made a hit game from Hunt: Showdown and the company still going but not so much. From what I remember, they still have a case in court with Roberts Industry with the whole Cryengine...I think.

Wished they showed some gameplay to see how it's going to look. It's been awhile since I've played Crysis 1 and even on modern hardware it doesn't always run that great. With this remaster not only will it look better I also suspect it will run better on modern hardware.

Pretty much this. I am not a game dev, but I've heard talk about the supposed abysmal optimization in Crysis. Apparently, it doesn't support threaded CPU work loads at all, meaning that even on modern hardware, Crysis has some major performance issues and stuttering.

I still have Crysis on disc so if they work on the optimizations, I'd buy the game again. Plus my disc version doesn't support V-Sync and I have to manually patch it. Plus the DRM prevents me from playing my disc copy of Warhead without hacking the game.

Im willing to give crysis another shot with the remaster for some reason 2 didn't click with me on PS3. Definitely a high intensity game to put on the switch so how they fit it on a cartridge will be a huge effort.

Despite Crysis still holds up very well today in 2020 with mods, no more CPU bottleneck is what really needed in the first place and this remastered is a miracle.

And yeah, It was a fun game, then the Aliens showed up and it completely went downhill.

@davillain-: It remains to be seen.

I think a Crysis 4 is what could really blow the competition out of the water. Be a showcase for PC and next gen at the same time.

Right now all we're getting is a polished up 2007 game. It'll be a gorgeous game, but I doubt it'll have the same impact.

If Crytek is still able to make games, proper AAA FPS experiences, than they should try and really reboot this franchise.

It's the perfect time because a ton of people have show interest at this news.

@R4gn4r0k: I'm still hoping for a proper Crysis 4 as well and I did enjoy Crysis 2/3 in their own rights, but Crysis and Warhead will always be the best. If this remastered version does well, it'll show gamers are interest in this series again.

Switch can run it...but should it?

@vfighter said:

@mrbojangles25: Crysis 2 and 3 are garbage. Pretty garbage, but still garbage.

Crysis 2 is "garbage", sure (still fun, though), but Crysis 3 sort of circled back around to what was good about Crysis 1. It didn't really excel though in any area, although I thought the story sort of came together nicely. I liked how the nanosuit was more or less it's own entity and it sort of absorbed it's host (in a good way).

After all the hoopla about consoles holding back PC gaming and that Crysis cannot run on consoles, its going to run on a console that is on the same level as last gen... the same gen it was impossible?

The Switch really is a gem for third party Publishers.

Selling last generation games, sometimes 2 generations old for a contemporary price like they were new.

Between Nintendo fanboys, ignorance and gaming media practically sucking them off, no one bats an eye-lid.

@mrbojangles25: The nano suit was the only interesting thing about 3, the rest of the "story" was laughable. Had the game been fun, good, challenging, etc I wouldnt have minded the horrible story but it stuck out like a sore thumb when everything else was medicore or worse. The series has so much potential, but its just wasted.

It can run on PS4/Xbox one or next gen.

It couldnot run on 360 and PS3 because Crysis was ahead of them. thats why when Crysis 1 released on consoles. it run on Cryengine 2 and having Crysis 2 gameplay.

The Switch is not on the same level as last gen.

The Switch has 4 GB of RAM, as opposed to the 512 MB found in the X360 and PS3 (technically the PS3 has 256 MB). Not only that, but the speed of the Switch's RAM is significantly faster than what was even available in 2007.

The big reason why it was an issue was RAM. The system requirements of the game was 1GB of RAM MINIMUM to even run. So it makes complete sense it could run on the Switch and not on those consoles.

@ghosts4ever: That's good. Warhead stays good throughout even though it's not as lengthy.

If they do a good job, ill get it on pc. I never beat the original, so i want to see if its just an engine demo or an actual video game like many are saying. Both, crysis 2 and 3 were abysmal gameplay wise.
