Capcom better at least make a proper DMC5 before they check out

Anyone played The Technomancer yet I'm thinking about buying it. The trailer looked pretty good but would like to hear from someone who played it.
Scratch that reviews are bad I'll pick up Grand Kingdom instead.
Looks like I'm getting a new PC this year for gaming, hoping to get a GTX 1070 shortly after, guess it's time to be a hermit again, lol.
mitu! I didn't even think you still posted here. :P
I didn't think so either!!!=O Been a long time man.

Surprising, considering the blanket bans that are carried out for those against the common molds. lol

Very strange. Bans for speaking out against DSP, his forum is a desolate wasteland. Bans for going against "common molds", NeoGAF is as active as ever.
I'm absolutely pissed off my Doom save got corrupted after an error and I was upto fighting the two hell gaurdians so late in the game. I've had errors before but none have corrupted save files.
Beat Beyond Good and Evil (5/10)
Not a game I'd actively recommend against trying, but its gameplay and camera are more or less a product of their times. There's a smooth pacing here, the Zelda bitch work between dungeons never approaches the bitch work of Zelda games, and generally the game runs smoothly. It's not Ancel's best work, far from it, but I'll have a fonder memory of the good parts than I will all the wonky control and camera issues.
Berserk frenzy mode on in Bloodborne.
How I wish From does a berserk game with Bloodborne combat. Guts is a badass with that sword when he assassinated you know who and his son.
Scott Mofitt VP Of Sales And Marketing Leaving Nintendo

I finished Tokyo Mirage Sessions.
Overall, it was a fun game. Very flashy and colorful, yet meaty as well (unlike the hollow FF13 or FF15).
It is on par with say, Persona 4. A touch less grindy, more lighthearted, and quite a bit shorter.
I would definitely play it again.
@darklight4: same thing happened to me but with Mass Effect 3. The game was a bugfest on ps3, even though my Shepard was the OG one the game changed his face for some odd reason and I read that many people had those issues but with their modified characters. Just as I was at the very end when you run the game decided to freeze and everything got corrupted, so it got deleted and I lost the will to finish it ever again.
@mmmwksil: Don't let @charizard1605 see you say that. He's still under the impression that he's finally found something too weeaboo for him.
@darkspineslayer:
I get that people say TMS looks just WAY too "weeaboo". Honestly it's the presentation of the game; might even say it works against itself. But this is an Atlus game, and it has many of the same features, concepts or what have you that have made Persona so popular.
Remove the colorful development history this game has, and it would be yet another cult classic by Atlus. Which I'm certain it will become as the months roll on. Anyone who thinks the game is anymore "cringe-worthy" than the Persona series is clearly so blinded by their love of the series they don't see that cringe anymore.
And to be honest, you can see the production value put into the game, especially with the music. It was made with a lot of love, and it's a shame it got such poor sales. (Won't even touch the media frenzy over "censorship" though.)
@mmmwksil: I feel like part of it might also be the idea people had in their heads for so long when this was SMTXFE, not pho-persona with tangential connections to Fire Emblem. They weren't sure what to expect, but it wasn't pop idols.
Regardless, I've been convinced to get into it eventually. Though I'll see if it, like every other Atlus game, gets an Eshop sale. My physical copy is staying in the plastic because I agree with you, that this will one day enjoy a different perception.
I didn't realize there was yet another "Teh cenzorshipz" (for lack of a better word) thing around this either. Do people have nothing better to do?
@darkspineslayer:
Honestly I agree, that was the problem. They announced it back when the idea was something more akin to a literal crossover. Would it be a SMT game with Fire Emblem characters? A Fire Emblem game with demons? They latched onto that idea and never let go.
The team has even gone on record saying how it shifted focus following the issues Atlus and Nintendo had during development. And the game turned out well regardless. The nods to either franchise are fun to spot, and it stands as its own thing without leaning too heavily on one or the other (though its overreaching plot is very reminiscent of Fire Emblem).
If they want "Fire Emblem with demons", I'd point them to Devil Survivor 2, which quite frankly outclasses ANYTHING in the Fire Emblem history.
(And yes, many places are in a tizzy over Chapter 2's heavy changes for Western release. Changes I frankly expected if the game wanted that T rating over an M in the States.)
Just beat Bayo 2, great fucking game holy shit lol. Gonna play the witch trials and move on to infinite climax.
I can tell this is one of those games I'll be replaying a lot. Without at doubt the best WiiU game I've played.

Ewww...
That game was terrible. And I say that as someone who loved Devil Survivor 1.
It is a shining example of why relationship management should never be in video games at all. I remember wondering why people on a site that shall not be named hated it so much with the only hint I got was "We want the persona audience". But after playing it... oh god, never before have I seen a game punishing me for playing the game in a way I want to play it. After I got Fates later that year... I got a faster, better paced, more varied, more challenging game with more emphasis on strategy and less on character abilities, with higher tension too, where one wrong move (even by one step) is enough to cause a game over.
Of course, I am probably the anti-charizard when it comes to Persona. I hate social linking with a burning passion. And anything that even remotedly stinks of persona is enough to make me push the Eject button. **** social linking and more importantly **** Devil Survivor Persona Edition's implemenation of it. Because I actually decided to act in character, I was locked out of the true ending...
After seeing this scene, I found myself asking... what does any of this have to do with Shin Megami Tensei?
Sure, there has always been silly dirty jokes in SMT... but it never got cringeworthy. This did. This was even worse than the Izana guy in Fire Emblem Fates, and that says something.
Anyone play that SFV story mode?
Well, I just finished Act 1, and It's real bad man. Everything about the presentation is disjointed and poorly paced. It just jumps around constantly and never makes any of its story beats feel natural. I have a hard time even calling it a video game. You barely do any fighting, and when you do, it's a one round match against a completely brain dead opponent.
I was hoping for some silliness from the cutscenes, but the entire thing seems like overly self serious nonsense. It doesn't have the well crafted story and presentation of Mortal Kombat 9, and it doesn't have the so bad its good joy fest of Dead or Alive 5. It just seems pretty shitty all around.
@Maroxad:
We've had this conversation before Maro, so I know there's no convincing you otherwise.
(Though every SMT game with multiple endings does this. Devil Survivor 1, mainline SMT games, etc.; they all require pretty precise answers to questions to get that coveted true ending. Lobby that complaint to the series, not a single entry.)
However, the video you're sharing? Such a depicted scenario is honestly not uncommon in Japanese games. That you don't like it is fine, but comparing it to the Izana thing from Fates? Izana was bad writing, plain and simple. A secluded feudal lord who spouts "Izana in the house!" takes the cake.
But then again, Fates was one of the worst translation jobs ever. I'll leave it at that.

Those games only required specific responses in specific points. None of them were as bad as DS2 was.
SMT 1 and 2: Just keep your alignment neutral, or descend to neutral. No specific dialogue options needed.
SMT3: Just reject everyone and then choose the right option when talking to the teacher. The rest of the game, say whatever you want.
SMT4: This one is a bit of a guide dangit moment. And one of the things that made getting the neutral path not really worth the effort.
Devil Survivor 1: Keep some specific answers right. But the game had so many viable endings anyways it didnt really matter. 3 Overclocked ending paths, all leading to a fair ammount of challenge. Personally, I felt happy with my Chaos ending in DS1. It didnt make me go an easier path because I chose to roleplay my character.
With Devil Survivor 2. The issue was quite frankly, during the entire game, even in trivial conversations I would have to be an asskisser instead of someone getting into the shoes of a character living during these events. Because to get the good ending, I would have to get a Social Link level of 4 or above with everyone... The whole thing came across as EXTREMELY gamey, unimmersive and quite frankly a terrible system, both for roleplaying and for immersing in the story. I didnt say what I wanted to say, I said what I had to say to score the most points. How anyone can find a system like this to be even slightly compelling is beyond me. The FATE system in Devil Survivor 2 pretty much asked to be gamed. At least Persona 4 had the decency not to force you to max the S.Link with anyone in order to get the best ending.
And no, that scene there was more offensive. The Izana scene, while kinda stupid... did not completely break the themes of the storyline or did not feel completely out of place. The scene in fates may have been hamfisted. But it wasnt hamfisted and out of place, like the scene in DS2 was.
I can deal with fan service and a greater extent, sexuality. Afterall, in one computer game, I did run a brothel to fund my terrorist group, and downloaded a mod to play as a prostitute in Sims 3. But holy hell, in DS2 that scene just came across as so juvenile, so immature, so out of place, so degenerate, so badly written.

@Maroxad:
And this is why I didn't want to engage this conversation with you again. You have a hard bias for Fates.
So if you can't admit that the Izana scene in Fates was grossly out of place considering the setting, then that's as far as we'll get.
(And for the record, the DS2 recommendation was in regards to people wanting something akin to "Fire Emblem with demons". It could have been Devil Survivor Overclocked; point remains. Really wasn't looking to get into this mess again.)

Yeah, every single fight is like that. Except for whatever reason they jack up the difficulty significantly at the end of the story mode.

It wasnt thematically out of place, which is what i was getting at. That guy more or less epitomized harmony, and Harmony is one of the themes of Fates.
As for me being biased. Not really, I only really like Conquest. Revelations is so-so, and I heard Birthright is even worse.
It is just that Devil Survivor 2 was EASILY the worst SRPG I have ever played (It is the only time I even abandoned an SPRG), and the game that destroyed any desire I have to ever touch an Atlus game again. Though... I havent played Disgaea, nor am I touching it with a 10 foot pole.
Edit: I am not responding to you to defend fates as much as I wont miss any opportunity to bash a Neo-Atlus game. The only games I still like from those guys are the Etrian Odyssey games.

Don't forget that Fire Emblem Gaiden had a plot about a God, turned into a Demon as well as other beasts.
Don't forget that Fire Emblem Gaiden had a plot about a God, turned into a Demon as well as other beasts.
Never played that.
One of the reasons I like Fire Emblem so much compared to most sRPGs is because that one has actual pacing in combat. One of the issues I have with Tactics Ogre and its clones is that they almost always get the pacing wrong in combat. Combat often starts slow, with agents being so distant from eachother it will usually take 2-3 turns for melee units to make any contact. This makes for terrible pacing. And I dont see why sRPG devs keep insisting on providing units with only 4 movement tiles per turn >_> Besides ruining the pacing, it also makes it really difficult for melee troops to reach the ranged attackers, whereas in Fire Emblem, medics and archers are always under threat of getting ganked by the melee troops.
Elise is the definitive Fire Emblem character gameplaywise and defines what hte series is about, she is extremely potent, but make one mistake with her, and the game takes her away from you.
Fire Emblem also does enough to shake up combat, and prevent you from getting comfortable. Whereas in the Tactics Ogre clones, lethality is usually not high enough to ever force me to switch plan, a crit, a skill proccing or even a miss is enough for me to force myself to adapt to a new plan. I am always on my toes in Fire Emblem whereas in Tactics Ogre or even Devil Survivor I often felt myself dragging my other units. I still liked Tactics Ogre and Devil Survivor 1, but I was never really sold on the gameplay in either one. They were both too lenient, too poorly paced, too comfortable to enjoy for their gameplay.
Either way, I always greatly prefered western sRPGs over japanese sRPGs.
Give me more of this please! :D

Is this real? Did you honestly just write that? I don't even...!
It's like if they were to re-release Schindler's List but include a line from Itzhak Stern where he tells Oskar "Hey Schind-dawg, I'm all about saving dem Jews!" It would be grossly out of place and harm the rest of the film.
You want him to epitomize harmony, then have him speak like the setting dictates. You want the player and characters surprised by his more laid-back mannerisms? You can achieve that without resorting to "Izana in the house!"
Just... wow.

Your argument has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.
You speak in terms of setting, I speak in terms of themes. He was poorly written, that we can agree on, but he was never out of place with the themes of the story. That is where Devil Survivor 2 and that godawful scene, failed.
The guy was neutral in the war, and wanted to avoid it through bliss and feasting. And banquets has always played quite the part in politics.
Edit: The scene never changed the tone of the story, or make me ask myself, "Am I still playing FIre Emblem?". When I saw that scene in DeSu 2, I wasnt sure what I was playing before, it felt completely out of place in SMT. Having as much to do with SMT as the subway vampires had to do with Fallout.
@Maroxad:
I'm not even comparing it to DS2 anymore. I was just left speechless that you insist on defending the theme of Fates (which was never an issue for me) as some kind of consolation for the line being awful.
You admitted the line was bad. That's it. Didn't need to bring up the theme or how it supposedly tied into it. The line was bad. It hurt the product. For me it was the final straw, but that's inconsequential.
You don't like DS2. Fine. I don't like Fates. Fine. We both know this. But ultimately when I mentioned DS2 to darkspine it was for a wholly different reason, not invite another pointless discussion we know will get us no where.
If it makes you feel better, pretend I said "Devil Survivor series" instead of "Devil Survivor 2".
@Maroxad: Well get on it! :P although the story was kind of meh, but you will see what inspired the Sacred Stones, Awakening, and Birthright's gameplay.
Well folks, I'm gonna re-watch Avatar the Last Airbender cartoon episodes due to I totally miss out Legend of Korra seasons and I need to get that out of the way. As much as it pains me to say this, Avatar cartoon series is totally the best cartoons I ever watch then to any Anime series for that matter. (Can't believe I said cartoon is better then Anime)
