@darkspineslayer: meh, idc. That was all pretty poorly written, I just wanted to shit on this game because **** it getting a 97 MC, and **** the ho hum criticism SW otherwise gives it. I'm not on NeoGAF, might as well go on a tirade.

@Blabadon: Yo, I agree. GTAV pretty much is everything I hate about hamfisted open worlds in games. Give me a smaller world with meaningful shit to do, not fucking QTE yoga.
Also, holy shit ZTD is blowing my mind.
I'm not the biggest fan of Diablo, but they took the wrong lessons from Diablo. Character build options are what make these games really work, shit it's what makes Monster Hunter work for so many people. And Destiny and The Division are far too limiting. They need more robust skill trees, with actual passive skills.
Yeah, sadly that seems to be the wrong lesson far too many devs took, even Blizzard themselves when they designed Diablo 3.
Looking at the skill trees online... Holy shit, those are bad.

They are skill twigs fam lol
Only lazy people criticize Prince of Persia 2008 for being so easy you can't die, it's no easier than plenty of other games with how it handles death, it just simply chooses not to let it get in the way and be a burden.
The game's easy because its mechanics are simple and it doesn't require much skill to get past most parts. Even then there are parts that test the player. People just get caught up so much with how it handles death when it actually weaves it in the narrative well and doesn't interfere with the pace it's trying to build.
Pretty much this, too. It's no different than alot of the new 2D platformers that have an instant restart when you die. The difference is that the PoP2008 just framed it in a way that did not visually kill you.
You can also lay the blame on how easy it was on the difficulty curve the game had. It was mostly flat due to its world design that let you complete each sector in whatever order you want. It opted for horizontal challenges based on specific mechanics associated to that sector and never really combined them.
Where the hell is my copy of ZTD Amazon?
And Tokyo mirage sessions has yet to arrive.
DB Xenoverse is broken as shit btw. Just go to Xenoverse 2 cause I hear I fixed all the problems that plagued the first.
Zero Time Dilemma looks cool.
But then I have to wind up having to play through more Japanese adventure games with Japanese designed puzzles. \o/.
And risk getting sick playing VLR.
Beat Limbo
I feel the way about it now, the same way I felt about it in 2010. That first half is a genuinely great experience the game oozes atmosphere, there is a nice sense of actual world building in something so basic with little touches like how you can basically drown, dropping traps on you, and it's a clever touch much like Mooksi said about Doom 2. They are gotcha deaths, but they are traps, they should get you. The game's instant respawn helps matters, and there is this great sense of an actual journey happening with the way you start and then cross the river, and then work up to your first encounter with the spider and the bad kids.
The game's highlight is still very much taking down that spider (spoiler you take down a nemesis in a video game, more at 11), but it's after that I feel like the game just becomes less interesting. Because it doubles down on the aspect of the game actually isn't all that great: The puzzle platforming. Don't get me wrong I much prefer Limbo compared to average fare like Munin or The Bridge, but it's not exactly Braid or The Swapper either.
The puzzles simply aren't interesting enough, they more or less solve themselves, and you just go through the motions. Often maybe failing more because the puzzle requires very specific timing. And other ones just feel more tedious than they need to be like this one stretch where after the mind jacking worm thing I had to back track back to the area I actually need to do some platforming. Made the whole mind jack thing feel pointless.
The mechanics heavy nature of the 2nd half, if anything takes away from the game feeling like a journey, and as Ben put it the game's narrative thread vanishes after you reach the factory.
It's still a good game, and I was wondering if I was just less than enthusiastic about it because of my excitement going in the first time as it was supposed to be the next big center piece of summer of arcade, but no I still feel the same way. Limbo is a good game, but it's a tale of a really strong first half, followed by a second half where it's mostly an okay puzzle platformer.
I do actually like the game feel though, there is a proper nastyness to it. And again, that atmosphere. I could fall asleep to just the main menu of this game. It's relaxing.
@ArisShadows: Holy ****! Good to see you, man! :)
Thanks for the welcome back. I never fully left, sometimes lurking..
@AznbkdX: Yeah, that monitor is crazy good. G-Sync is just so wonderful. I got mine at a pretty decent price, I was waiting for a while for them to drop, and heard nothing but good reviews on this one, so I went with it.
Played the first mission of Halo 5 guardians on legendary to try out my new capture card, um did they make the Knights more fucking annoying on legendary? Gotta pop their shields first, and then shoot them in the back. And they have shotguns? What in the ever loving ****.
Say, has anyone seen Charizard1605? He's been missing in action for days.
I had to suspend him for too much weeb shit.
Nah, he's just taking a much needed break from this place apparently, can't say I really blame him.
-
Also, woot! My M65 just arrived. Damn this thing feels good, great ergonomics. Also, finally no more holding shift or ctrl for stupid shit like sprinting and crouching.

Can't say I blame him, we all need to go on a hiatus these days but anyways, that's a nice mouse, if you was looking for a mouse, I could've recommended you to: Logitech g502. Great mouse in my opinion and I love it.
Say, has anyone seen Charizard1605? He's been missing in action for days.
He's building a gaming PC.
@davillain-:
Yeah I was looking at that mouse as well, it does look excellent. Probably a bit more functional than what I got too seeing as it has an additional 3 buttons. It's just a little busy for my needs, I wanted something that could double as a gaming and work mouse.
I really just wanted something comfortable that eliminates the need for shift and ctrl. I'm not trying to compete in the worlds strongest pinky finger contest, I hate that shit lol.
I own a Logitech G502. We are destined to be enemies from our differences in owning rival mice products.

Time for the Great Mouse Wars.
I'll dig up sales, you dig up reviews, and we'll create a thread about it.
Only then will SW be complete.
Better hope you don't see me on the streets cuz.

I don't mind big open worlds at all, Rockstar is the only one to nail subtleties about a place as vast and variable like Los Angeles with appalling amounts of detail (though I do prefer a game with what you said). It just feels like the game designers and the level designers were on two opposite sides of the globe with this game. I've liked GTA games before, most notably Liberty City Stories on PSP, because they manage to have an overall tone of zaniness and less tedium among the collection of different missions they have.
Not far enough into ZTD to start blowing my mind yet, just been doing escape room after escape room, so I gave it a break.

According to Tom's Harware, which is a highly reputable hardware site as it was created by the guy that created myspace.
The G502 gave the logitech brand an AAAAE mouse. It got one con, though. So it really got an 11/10 as they took a point off from the review score. But to quote the reviewer: "we can confidently say that the Proteus Core is the best all-purpose gaming mouse ever." - Pramath
Compared to the AAAE of the M65. Even though it's slightly cheaper, reading the mouse manual takes only 10 mins to complete...
I believe Logitech also has more twitter followers and Facebook likes than Corsair, too.
Yay! I finally got to order the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X that I wanted (at a non scalper price)! Cards have been in short supply it seems.
I'll be honest... I wanted pretty much anything aside from the FE versions lol.
I'm waiting for my MSI GTX 1070 as well but I'm making that move in September when the hype blows over and I want to use it by the time Battlefield 1 hits this October.
@davillain-: My luck with anything electronic in general is quite high, and I rarely get disappointed in any product that I get even if it's something impulse bought, so I tend to just wing it haha.
Its been awhile since I bought anything build related that is still in its infancy for the most part. Lets see how it fares.
@Blabadon: They do front load the puzzle rooms. Pace yourself through them, you'll get to the meat later.
@illmatic87: Pfft, biased mainstream mouse media, everyone knows that Toms Hardware is Logitech Spot.
I'm doing some work on the new Jacob's Ladder. I'm not permitted to say... well anything about it really lol.
But I will say it's some creepy shit to work on.
@getyeryayasout:
Yeah I've seen it but I was like 12 years old lol. Don't remember much about it, but I plan on watching it again this weekend.
@ArisShadows: Holy ****! Good to see you, man! :)

I do post alot over Neogaf these days.
and the most un talked/underrated game of 2016 is
Furi
can you say best boss fight ever? (don't watch it if you want to be spoiled)
Seriously it's free on PSN, play this ****
@Ballroompirate:
Interesting, haven't even heard of it.
That actually does look pretty sweet, both the visuals and gameplay. I dig the shmup lite meets beat 'em up thing they have going on.
I'll give it a spin tomorrow for sure.
lol, looked up who developed Furi. They made that fun as shit smartphone game previously (Squids). Was this uhh, turn based tactics thing where you flick/bounce your units around to hit the enemies. Quite a big jump into Furi.
Say, has anyone seen Charizard1605? He's been missing in action for days.
He's working his ass off to pay the Steam gift he owes me.
