@getyeryayasout: Ah, didn't know that. I think it's gonna be boss-cinematic walking with narrative-boss etc.

I've been playing Pikmin 2, but a No Death Run. I've always been against Pikmin 2 (despite it being the best game in the series) because I found it so wrong that they were dying for the greed of Olimar's company. So now, I'm going to finish everything Pikmin 2 has to offer without losing a single innocent soul. I've already collected the 10000 poko debt, so all that's left is the much more challenging Wistful Wild region.
@nintendoboy16:
eww Smash. Haven't liked Smash since the original game on N64.
@mmmwksil: SSB: Melee Gamecube still rocks today's standards. After that, SSB series went downhill big time and Wii U SSB is hardly better. I'm not buying anymore SSB unless Nintendo does a crossover or something newer we haven't seen before but I'm not holding my breath if the NX version will make any radical changes.
@davillain-:
Thing is I never found the game to be particularly fun after the first one. And even then I found the first one fun in that my cousins and brothers could all get in on the madness when we were kids. As time went on, I found it less satisfying as a fighter and turned to the likes of SF3, Guilty Gear and Blazblue until I kinda retired from the fighting scene altogether.
and the most un talked/underrated game of 2016 is
Furi
can you say best boss fight ever? (don't watch it if you want to be spoiled)
Seriously it's free on PSN, play this ****
The game is in 60fps. Also, what do you think of the music?

I like GAF and all, but they sure do have some bad opinions over there.
In what world are Bioshock Infinite and MGSV considered bad games? Way to many over there unironically say Arkham Origins is the best Arkham game.
Ugh
I like GAF and all, but they sure do have some bad opinions over there.
Fam, gamers. lol
To be fair the hivemind opinion of the Batman games is that City is the best, there is just a group that loves Origins story more. Which is the same type of crowd that dislikes MGSV, because of the story.
Ugh

Which is dumb, the Arkham games never managed to form a half cohesive story until Knight. Even then, it's really not all that praise worthy. Origins is seriously abysmal tier. City and Asylum didn't have much of a story, so they were pretty inoffensive.
Oh yeah, and the entire game is just a low tier carbon copy of City. Shit sucks man.
In what world are Bioshock Infinite considered bad games?
I'd easily go to bat for that, that game has a shit story, whatever, but to have legitimately bad gameplay in the most popular genre of its time? C'mon.
I've played a lot of shooters over the years. Bioshock Infinite is a good shooter.
You want a bad shooter? Go play Hell's Highway or Dark Sector.
@JangoWuzHere: I've played both, neither inspire confidence as good, even mediocre games, but the only way they separate themselves from Infinite is noticeably poorer production values and less pretentious stories.
The garbage two weapon system, poor use of hit scan and Halo's shield, terrible upgrade system, lack of variety in Vigors, poor enemy variety and design, bad combat arena design, and occasionally terrible fights like that last one on the ship make it anything but a good shooter, even a mediocre one.
I'll totally say the DLC is a good time. Infinite? Legitimately bad game.

Not gonna get deep into this debate. I played the game more then three years ago and don't remember the design specifics. I thought it was a totally fine game with a few annoying flaws. The core action of shooting things felt good in that game, unlike the first Bioshock.
Also that DLC is garbage and a total waste of time. Base game is cool man.
Attention game industry.
Not every game needs to be open world.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst for example.
That is all.
So I've collected all the treasures from three of four regions in Pikmin 2. Death Count remains at 0 and I intend to keep it that way. Though the Wistful Wild terrifies me with the abundance of enemies.
All in all though I didn't think the challenge would be this easy? I've reset dozens of times already but for the most part it's actually quite easy to get past obstacles without losing a single Pikmin.

But it makes the game long
@illmatic87: It make the game a fat bitch.
But think about the gameplay hours per dollar u get
@jg4xchamp: I'd be interested in how you would have it be a meaningful open world.
IMO Mirror's Edge is at its best when they have the ability to plan one way routes that allow a speed running kind of flow to them. The open world breaks that.

That being said, I disagree with the other game used as an example, because open world racers are fucking cancer and Paradise was a horrible example of one, but the point he makes is pretty good otherwise.

MGSV more or less showed us how you would do a sneaking game with an open space, make it fucking open. The things that suck about it are the things that suck about all open world games: boring, dull, uninspired, lazy side shit meant to satisfy some upgrade system (unlocking items) to take advantage of the fact that the personification of aids that are gamers, are compulsive, and have enough carrots to keep playing to satisfy some bullshit per square inch quota.
Point the things that worked about MGSV in the main missions, was that it played like a sandbox. Not a linear game in bigger world, an actual open game. Mirror's Edge should be that. It should have never played anything like an open world game, it shouldn't have an upgrade system, it shouldn't have fucking areas where they close off the room like this is Bayonetta so you could fight dudes. Because Faith is no Bayonetta, not on her best days.
Kojima was more or less half way there on not making an open world game the way the west does, and then he fucking did, and somehow one upped them in finding something tedious and stupid. And it still fucking plays better than, just about any western open world game we got this gen.
Side note Burnout Paradise is fucking great.
Crazy how they lock Key abilities behind a skill tree in that game when the first game had those skills on the go. Bu but guys we are giving you the incentive to go out there to do our shitty side content that we really worked hard on to get xp and unlock the skills and feel like your character is developing throughout the story. We also encourage faith to kill enemies when she should be avoiding them. They bump into each other like noodles. The parkour itself is great but everything else is just poor. side missions and collecting are just for the perfectionist people who want 1000 achievements to feel good about themselves and think yeah this is worth the money. I did good by borrowing it cause no way I'd buy this at full price just like Assassin creed.
Unless this gets good sales I don't see them doing a sequel.
@Blabadon: Ah, I must have missed that upload of his. I feel like his biggest point, the world design not being memorable and too fractured, are the biggest reason why it doesn't work. might have been smoother.
Anyways, @jg4xchamp, Your point about it having a bit of the Ubisoft syndrome, yeah I can see that. But that's what I'm saying. The game does next to nothing with it being an open world other than add filler bullshit, because some market research said "Add some collectables, bitches love collectables". MGSV worked as an open world because it's asking for a completely different, measured pace, as opposed to the reactionary Mirrors Edge. And not asking me to collect 100 feathers.
Mirror's Edge could take at least one leaf from Bayonetta and give me a shorter, liner game that promotes mastery and goads me to replay. Would have come out a stronger game.
Also, yo, he's right Blab. Burnout Paradise was fucking tight.
@darkspineslayer: if anything, the first one worked better for me because the outside levels promoted running around to create your own paths, often under the duress of a chase, while the indoor levels demanded proper execution of a designated path. Both complimented each other brilliantly. There were the puzzle platforming sections, I didn't mind them, they were what they were.
Everything here is fucking boring, no particular jump or section has been exhilarating in the slightest. Plus these mission designs suck, absolutely fucking suck. There's no reason a package arriving in 41 seconds instead of 40 makes a difference except this game can't write a decent excuse for you to speed run when that's already its best mechanic.
@illmatic87: It make the game a fat bitch.
@jg4xchamp, you shouldn't take over other people's accounts.
I just read the GTA thread.
Not defending the guy but
I don't think there's going back from that. I'd probably leave the forums after. Very harsh. People have ended their lives over less matters believe me.
I'm nowhere near as good as some of you guys are when it comes to arguments and discussing the weak and strong points of games ( I usually make shallow points as to why I don't consider a mechanic good, I usually just adapt to how the game is and work on it to get better at it even if it's not to my liking lol) .
I just love video games and usually enjoy reading on what you guys think about them and I try to keep up with you guys with what I have learned of the language to express my opinion when I can.

IMO MGSV did not work as an open world game. that was the worst part.
@DarkLink77: Damn, caught again.
You never answered me on who you were writing for, you know.
I think the open world of MGSV worked well when the mission took advantage of its scale. The map wide missions that gave room for dynamic/mobile objectives just added something more strategic and often provided you a sense of urgency to an objective that was occurring at a distance.
I was fine with the open world. Didnt really need it to be lively or anything. I just liked how it added a layer of logistics in getting from place to place, planning out an entry and exit if things go south. It also served its purpose to inform you having to choose your preferred LZ and an infiltration point.
@illmatic87: yea but they could have just made each episode their own level and nothing would have been lost. That game would have probably been better as a 25-30 hour game with more focus. Instead, they added this empty, soulless open world that was a pain in the ass to get around when you were doing a main mission, a half baked base management sim and a bunch of repetitive filler side quests to pad out the length
Even when I make threads in Games Discussion, it takes a very long time to get any post and yeah, it sucks that SW is the only active place in all GS. Even in the Retro gaming, it takes like a day to find any discussion. SW maybe stupid but it's the only place to have a discussion.

True. Gotta sift through endless amounts of fanboy garbage and zombie behavior to get to the good stuff. And get told to behave exactly like a zombie or go somewhere else. I'd love to go somewhere else, except somewhere else on Gamespot doesn't exist.
Stuff I learnt from the latest TexasGoldRush thread.
I can see why you called his posts eye cancer @jg4xchamp
